ODESSA -- Bob Hankins, 59, of Odessa, owner of Tommy Service General Contractors, died Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Sherwood Church of Christ with Lynn Money officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was born in Gladewater. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors: Wife, Marsha Hankins of Odessa; sons, Wesley Hankins of Odessa, Ryan Hankins of Lewisville; daughter, Heather Hankins of Odessa; and parents, Jack and Flossie Hankins of Kilgore.

Mary Carl
ODESSA -- Mary Francis Carl, 91, of Odessa, a secretary, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Cordell, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1996 from Wewoka, Okla.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Melba Williams of Odessa; sons, Daniel Carl of Columbia, South America, Charles E. Carl of Bowie; sister, Flora Miller of Tulsa, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Bud Crump
KERMIT -- Bud Crump, 87, of Kermit, a retired postman, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Grace Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Lee Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel Inc.
He was born in Coleman County and was a 50-year resident of Kermit. He was Baptist. He was a veteran of the Army Reserves.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Wilma Crump of Kermit; brothers, Louis Crump of San Saba and John Crump Jr. of Coleman.

JoAnna Land
ODESSA -- JoAnna Carolina Dampier Land, 63, of Odessa, a retired employee of Seabury Nursing Center, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at University Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Witherspoon officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was born in Gainesville, Fla., and moved to Odessa in 1975.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Millard W. Land of Odessa; sons, Wallace Land of Odessa and Edward Land of Odessa; daughters, Ann Werger of Odessa, Levine Turner of Andrews, Janet Sutphen and Shelly Palmer of Odessa; brothers, Wilbur Dampier of Gainesville, Fla., Laythen Dykes of St. Augustine, Fla., Bailous Dykes of High Springs, Fla., and Danny Standridge of McIntosh, Fla.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Joseph Pool
FORT STOCKTON -- Joseph "Joe" C. Pool, 76, of Fort Stockton, a retired heavy equipment operator, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in Big Spring.
Services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. at Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Witcher officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Marietta and moved to Fort Stockton in 1947 from Cisco. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Celia Pool of Fort Stockton; son, Jerry Pool of Monahans; brother, Bill Pool of Lake Ivy; sisters, Rene D’Spain of Junction, Robena Blackman of Austin and Ernestine Russell of Woodville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Alberto Rodriguez
SHEFFIELD -- Alberto Rodriguez III, 30, of Odessa, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Sheffield with the Rev. Hendrix officiating. Burial will be in Sheffield. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
Rodriguez was born in Crane.
Survivors: Daughter, Angelica Michelle Rodriguez of San Angelo; parents, Alberto and Cruz Rodriguez of Odessa; grandparents, Antonio and Teresa Ybarra and Rosie Rodriguez, all of Sheffield; five brothers, Jose Rodriguez, Mike Rodriguez, Paul Rodriguez, Ricky Rodriguez and Johnny Rodriguez, all of Odessa; and two sisters, Suzanne Rodriguez and Yolanda Chavez, both of Odessa.

Gladys Mayfield
MIDLAND -- Gladys Inez Mayfield, 82, of Midland, a retired Midland Independent School District cafeteria worker, died Thursday, August 13, 1998, in a Midland nursing home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Pipkin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnnie Brown officiating. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Pipkin Funeral Home.
Mayfield was born in Coleman. She moved to Midland in 1946.
Survivors: Three daughters, Linda Brown of Midland, Donna Wray of Rochester, N.H., and Barbara Bauck of Durant, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Lazaro Alvarado
BROWNFIELD -- Lazaro Alvarado, 92, of Brownfield, a farmer, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Brownfield Regional Medical Center.
Mass was celebrated Monday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Burial was in Brownfield cemetery. Arrangements by Head Family Funeral Home.
He was born in San Luis Pososi, Mexico, and moved to Brownfield in 1950 from Paducha.
Survivors: Sons, Cruz Alvarado of Odessa, Frank Alvarado and Fred Alvarado, both of Lubbock, Ignacio Alvarado, Lazaro Alvarado Jr. and Paul Alvarado, all of Brownfield, Steven Alvarado of Hobbs, N.M., Richard Alvarado and Raul Alvarado, both of Seminole; daughters, Olivia Morin of Brownfield, Yolanda Vilialva and Aurora Rodriguez, both of Seminole, Mary Lenora Ortiz of Hobbs, N.M., Mary Rodriguez and Olivia Auguellez, both of Brownfield, Gloria Gomez of Lubbock; brother, Emilo Alvarado of Sinton; sister, Ofe Alvarado of Sinton; 83 grandchildren, 184 great-grandchildren and 54 great-great-grandchildren.

Allen Beckwith
SEAGRAVES -- Allen R. Beckwith, 60, of Andrews, a retired roughneck, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Seagraves cemetery with the Rev. David Humber officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Bowie County. He was a veteran of the National Guard. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors: Son, Danny Randall of Lamesa; mother, Dorothy Skidmore of Andrews; brother, Jack Beckwith of Odessa; sisters, Wanda Reitzer and Shirley Loyd, both of Andrews, and Carol Bishop of Hobbs, N.M.

Ernestina Gonzales
FORT STOCKTON -- Ernestina "Tina" Gonzales, 41, of Fort Stockton, a homemaker, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, in Midland.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Vasquez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Fort Stockton and was a lifelong resident. She was a Catholic.
Survivors: Husband, Jesus "Jesse" Gonzales of Fort Stockton; parents, Agustin and Maria Elena Velasquez of Fort Stockton; grandmother, Sarah Rosas of Fort Stockton; great-grandmother, Carlotta Martinez of Uvalde; sons, Jeffrey Gonzales and Jason Carrillo, both of Fort Stockton; daughter, Abigail Carrillo of Fort Stockton; brothers, Augie Velasquez, Jimmy Velasquez, Albert Velasquez, Ernesto Velasquez and Marcos Velasquez, all of Fort Stockton; sisters, Margie Velasquez and Delma Robertson, both of Fort Stockton; and one grandchild.

William Decker
ODESSA -- William "Bill" Decker, 43, of Odessa, a senior operator for Mobil Chemical in Temple, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was born in Bell County and moved to Odessa 15 years ago from Belton. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors: Daughter, Blaine Lavonna Decker of Odessa; brother, Robert Decker of Odessa; and sister, Donna Reynolds of Hermitage, Mo.

John Henry Dixon
ODESSA -- John Henry Dixon, 32, of Odessa, a truck driver for the City of Odessa, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church in Jeferson with the Rev. Carl Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Mims Chapel cemetery. Local arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Jefferson.
Survivors: Wife, Melinda Fox of Odessa; mother, Gustavia Floyd of Jefferson; sons, Hayden J. Dixon and John Henry Dixon Jr., both of Odessa; sisters, Nona Byrd and Mattie Ervin, both of Jefferson; brothers, Joseph Dixon of Jefferson, Pat Dixon of Dallas and Alfred Dixon of San Antonio.

ODESSA -- Ruth Prater, 68, of Odessa, a retired meter reader for the City of Odessa, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at her residence.

She was born in Okemah, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1971. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors: Daughter, Karen Short of Odessa; son, Kent Short of Odessa; brother, Melvin Devore of Henrietta, Okla.; and sister, Alice Pierce of St. George, Utah.
