Maudie Rains

MIDLAND - Maudie Marie Rains, 66, the Director of Education at Midland Memorial Hospital and a registered nurse, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Services were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Midland with the Rev. Gary Dyer officiating. Burial was at Resthaven Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

She was born in Dawson County and was a longtime resident of Midland.

SURVIVORS: Nephew, William R. 'Butch' Rains of Oklahoma City; nieces, Sherry Smith of Midland, Diane Vallie of Monahans, Suzan Collins of Bozeman, Mont.; Rosemarie Axelson of St. Louis, Mo.; and Rilda Rodgers of Klamath Falls, Ore.

David Sneed Jr.

SEAGRAVES - David Harrison Sneed Jr., 85, a retired pipe fitter and owner and operator of a supply company in Muleshoe, died Monday, Aug. 11, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Westerman officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Lubbock City cemetery. Arrangements by Head Family Funeral Home.

He was born in Oklahoma and was a resident of Seagraves for 25 years.

SURVIVORS: Two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Roberto Urias

PECOS - Roberto Urias, 63, a laborer, died Monday, Aug. 11, 1997, at Reeves County Hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Antonio Mena officiating. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

He was born in Buena Vista, Chihuahua, Mexico, and had been a resident of Pecos since 1968. He was a Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Olga Urias of Pecos; sons, Dagoberto Urias and Roberto Urias Jr., both of Odessa, Rigoberto Urias of Lubbock and Gilberto Urias of Pecos; daughters, Angie G. Urias and Aggie U. Gabaldon, both of Pecos; brothers, Armando V. Urias, Cesario V. Urias and Ezequiel Venegas, all of Pecos; sister, Agricola Urias Ontiveros of Ojinaga, Mexico; and 10 grandchildren.

Wayne Carter Sr.

MONAHANS - Wayne Carter Sr., 50, retired truck driver, died Aug. 10, 1997, at Ward Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Faith Temple Church in Monahans with A.J. Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Marlin. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Belinda Adams of Atlanta, Sheilah Adams, Terri Carter, Destaney Carter, Rachel Ramirez, all of Monahans and Vicky Carter of Odessa; sons, Lewis Carter and Wayne Earl Carter Jr., both of Monahans.

Barbara Sue McDougal McPherson

EASTLAND - Barbara Sue [cl10.5]McDougal McPherson, 55, a pilot and bookkeeper, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997, in Eastland.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Lively officiating. Burial will be in the Merriman cemetery in Ranger. Funeral arrangements by Edwards Funeral Home.

She was born in Iraan and lived in Hobbs, N.M., Valliant, Okla., Breckenridge, Deer Park, Fort Worth, Odessa and Eastland. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Ranger.

Survivors: Two children: Amanda Stubblefield of Crockett and Allen McPherson of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Sandra Lutz of Austin; 1 grandchild.

Jack Linwood Brown

MIDLAND - Jack Linwood Brown, 88, a retired DeKalb Drilling Co. superintendent, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Garden cemetery with the Rev. James Otterness officiating. Funeral arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., and had been a resident of Midland since 1933. He was an Episcopalian. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific with the Marine Corps.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Marjorie Ann Brown of Midland, and daughter, Adele Brown of Long Beach, Calif.

Liles A. Easley

SEMINOLE - Liles A. Easley, 43, an employee of Walton Construction of Hobbs, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, from injuries suffered from an auto accident.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at South Seminole Baptist Church with the Revs. Shane Kinnison and David Mercer officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be at Gaines County cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Ratliff Funeral Homes.

He was born in Tulsa, Okla.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Clydean Easley of Seminole; son, Anthony Clyde of Seminole; daughter, Jessica Dean of Seminole; parents, Joseph A. and Helen Easley of Oklahoma; and sister, Helen Sherod of Nevada.

Victor E. Herget

ODESSA - Victor E. Herget, 78, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Odessa Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Sam Jordan officiating. Funeral arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Novelty, Mo., and had been a resident of Odessa since 1991. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Odessa Tabernacle Church.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Martha J. Herget of Odessa; son, Doug Herget of Odessa; daughters, Laura Jordan of Odessa, and Victoria Epperson of Palos Heights, Ill.; sister, Ann Wright of Pinole, Calif.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Michael Hubnik

ODESSA - Michael Paul Hubnik, 47, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albuquerque, N.M., after a short illness.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. An additional Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church in Marakville with the Rev. Charlie Davis officiating. Burial will be at St. Cyril Methodius cemetery.

Arrangements by Metropolitan Burial and Cremation Center of Albuquerque.

He was born in Fort Worth and was a longtime resident of Odessa. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

SURVIVORS: Mother, Mallie Marak Hubnik of Odessa; daughter, Paulette Hubnik Bicknell of Austin; sons, Christopher Hubnik and Ashley Hubnik, both of California; sisters, Paulette Hubnik Foster of Cross Plains, Eleanor Hubnik Mitcham of Odessa and Joanie Hubnik Ward of Fort Stockton.

Bobby Ray Hurt

MONAHANS - Bobby Ray Hurt, 63, a retiree from the Door of Hope Mission, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, at the Monahans Senior Center.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. David R. Pistone officiating. Funeral arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Haskell and lived in Odessa. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Larry Ray Hurt of Odessa; daughters, Debra Burgess of Odessa, and Penny Hurt of Abilene; sisters, Betty Walls, Laverne Warden and Sue Olgin, all of Monahans; and four grandchildren.

Charles Edwin Perry

IMPERIAL - Charles Edwin 'Bozo' Perry, 66, a night watchman, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Graveside services were held Friday at Imperial cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Snavely officiating.

Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Dundee, Okla., and was a resident of Imperial since 1945.

SURVIVORS: Several nieces and nephews.

Marco Krasnohira

ODESSA - Marco Antonio Gutierrez Krasnohira, 57, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Alec Ethan Aguirre

FORT WORTH - Alec Ethan Aguirre, 1 month, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997, at Cooks Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.

Graveside services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday at Rosehill cemetery in Odessa. He was born in Odessa. Funeral arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

SURVIVORS: Mother, Alive Denise Aguirre of Odessa; sister, Dixie Zelleste Aguirre of Odessa; and grandparents, Arnulfo and Nelida Aguirre of Odessa.
