Velda Park

ODESSA - Velda Park, 92, a homemaker, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997, at her residence in Odessa.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Kermit cemetery in Kermit. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

She was born in Many, La. SURVIVORS: Son, Jerry Armistead of Odessa; and daughter, Deverne Jackdon of Odessa.

Letha Shelton

ODESSA - Letha Mae Farmer Shelton, 73, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital. Services are set for 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rex Clayton officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home. She was born July 24, 1924, in Columbia, Mo. and was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Paul Bivins and Claudia Moore, both of Odessa; son, John W. Shelton of Odessa; sisters, Sheila Byers of Bogalusa, La. and Arline Rogers of Katy. and three grandchildren.

Kenneth Chesshire Sr.

ANDREWS - Kenneth Don Chesshire Sr., 63, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Andrews cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.

Chesshire, who was born June 25, 1934, in Gladewater, was a career Army veteran who served in Vietnam and Korea. He was a member of the Army Officers Association.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Kenneth P. Chesshire Sr. of Pensicola, Fla., Thomas W. Chesshire of Catesville, Rickie Chesshire of Andrews and Russell L. Chesshire of Odessa; daughters, Linda S. Chesshire Fields of Andrews and Laurie A. Chesshire Tarboy of Odessa; and 18 grandchildren.

Richard Jorgensen

GEORGETOWN - Richard H. 'Dick' Jorgensen, 55, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997.

Memorial services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Cornhill cemetery. Arrangements by the Gabriels Funeral Chapel.

He was born Dec. 11, 1941, in Midland.

SURVIVORS: wife, Kathy Jorgensen of Jarrell; son, Ricky Jorgensen of Brownwood; daughters, Kerri McCoy of Odessa and Tracy Corrall of Round Rock; stepson, Rick Odell of Irving; stepdaughter, Angie Kepler of Longmont, Colo. and nine grandchildren.

Wilma Lefevre

ODESSA - Wilma Faye Lefevre, 81, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997 at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors chapel with Martin Kehler officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

She was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Rule and had lived in Odessa since 1953. She was a Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Earl Phelix Lefevre of Odessa; son, Jerry Don Lefevre of Odessa; daughters, Shirley Morris of Odessa and Linda Dianne Spragins of Dallas; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Nancy Slater

CRANE - Nancy Slater, 95, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, in the Kermit Nursing Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Crane County cemetery with the Rev. Van Dixon officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

She was born in Eastland County and was a resident of Crane for 56 years before moving to Kermit four years ago. She was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Bobbye Swinford of Crane; Son, Harold Ham of Garden Grove, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jessie Clifton

BRECKENRIDGE - Jessie O'Neal Clifton, 70, a homemaker, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997, at Hendrick Hospital in Abilene.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Morehart Mortuary Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be at Wayland cemetery. Arrangements by Morehart Mortuary.

She was born in Bienville, La., and was a resident of Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Son, Lowell Dale Clifton of Breckenridge; daughter, Margaret Ann Brown of Brownwood; brothers, W.C. Poland of Jonesboro, La., James Allen 'Pete' Poland of Brownwood, Nick Poland of West Monroe, La., and Jerry Poland of Bienville, La.; sisters, Lenora DeLatte of Beaumont, Ree Hay of Bienville, Jean Kunkel and Donna Pyron, both of Odessa, Sue Billingsley of Bastrop and Mary Wiggins of Minden, La.; and four grandchildren.

James Parisher

CHEROKEE - James 'Hoss' Parisher, 62, a retired Odessa firefighter, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, in Austin.

Services were held Friday at Cherokee Church of Christ. Burial was at Kuykendall cemetery in San Saba County. Arrangements by Howell-Doran Funeral Home.

He was born in San Saba County and was a resident of Odessa before moving to Cherokee 11 years ago. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Carol McManamy Parisher of Cherokee; sons, James Ray Parisher and Kenneth Parisher, both of Odessa, Terry Don Parisher of Blackwell and Patrick McConal of Austin; daughters, Karen Dennis of Odessa, Linda Munoz of Austin, Tabitha Frame of Ohio and Cynthia Pierce of Waco; brothers, Ricky Don Parisher and Johnny Parisher, both of Cherokee, and Odell Parisher of Orange Grove; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Guillermo Lerma

ODESSA - Guillermo Primera 'Bono' Lerma, 66, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

He was born in Fort Stockton and was a resident of Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Paula Lerma of Odessa; son, Nylo Lerma of Odessa; daughters, Marie Salinas, Laura Alcorn, Graciela Camacho and Norma Ruiz, all of Odessa; brothers, Gilbert Lerma and Ruben Lerma, both of Odessa; sisters, Lucinda Martinez, Rosa Romero, and Corina Chavez, all of Odessa; and eight grandchildren.

Shell Denison

LUBBOCK - Rev. Shell Denison, 61, who served his pastorage in New Mexico and in West Texas, died Sunday Aug. 10, 1997, in Lubbock.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Barry Denison, Lynn Moore, Gene Crane and Lloyd Stice officiating. Burial will be at Fort Sumner, N.M. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.

He was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Roswell, N.M., and was a resident of Seminole.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Melva Denison of Seminole; son, Barry Reed Denison of Jerusalem, Israel; daughter, Sharon Lopez of Fort Sumner; brother, Stephen C. Denison of Pasco, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

Frank Knight

SEMINOLE - Frank 'Holly' Knight, 72, a retired employee of SE&E; Paraffin Service, died Monday, Aug. 11, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bob Zapp and Rodger Teaff officiating. Burial will be at Gaines County cemetery. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.

He was born in Wylie County and was a lifetime resident of Seminole. He was a Presbyterian and an Army veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Debra Castleberry of Seminole; brother, Dennis Fred Knight of Roy, Utah; and three grandchildren.

Achsa Lewis

ODESSA - Achsa Nadine Lewis, 72, a homemaker, died Monday, Aug. 11, 1997, at her residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Mount Vernon and was a resident of Odessa. She was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Larry Lewis of Odessa and Jimmy Lewis of Palestine; brother, Leldon Harris of Fort Worth; sister, Alva Lee Gilman of Dublin; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
