Richard Dillow

MONAHANS - Richard E. 'Dick' Dillow, 66, a retired tool pusher, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harkey Funeral Home Chapel in Monahans with the Rev. Ramon Swope officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Roxanne, Ill., and was a resident of Monahans. He was a Christian.

SURVIVORS: Norma Dillow of Monahans; son, Richard Michael Dillow of Monahans; daughters, Christi Christian of Big Lake and Tammy Jean of Arlington; brother, Ralph Dillow of Illinois; sister, Lois Dillow of Craig, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

Herb Stiefvater

ODESSA - Herb Stiefvater, 85, a former tool pusher with McQueen-Stout Drilling Co., died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa with the Rev. Jess Little officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Valders, Wis., and was a resident of Odessa from 1951 to 1993 before moving to Natchitoches, La. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Bob Stiefvater of Natchitoches, La., and Dan Stiefvater of Houston; seven brothers; four sisters; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Letha M. Woodcox

ODESSA - Letha M. Woodcox, 83, a former Odessa Laundry employee, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, at Seabury Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa with the Rev. Jess Little officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Winters and moved to Odessa in 1940 from Eastland. She was a Baptist. SURVIVORS: Sister, Flora Griffin of Odessa; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Amanda Hernandez

KERMIT - Amanda Hernandez, 62, a homemaker died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, at Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Ralph Barranger officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.

She was born in Del Rio and was a resident of Winkler County for 40 years. She was a Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Santiago Hernandez of Wink; sons, Santiago Hernandez Jr. and Ruben Hernandez, both of Wink; daughters, Delia Hernandez, Elizabeth Hernandez and Belinda Hernandez, all of Wink; brother, Joe H. Martinez of Waco; sister, Letty Campos of Sonora; and six grandchildren.

Frances Solley

HOBBS, N.M. - Frances Ellen Solley, 61, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, at Columbia Lea Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Wednesday at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home in Hobbs, N.M. Burial will be at Prairie Haven cemetery. Arrangements by Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

She was born in East Tawns, Mich., and was a resident of Hobbs, N.M. SURVIVORS: Sons, Keith Solley of Odessa and Larry Solley of Hobbs, N.M.; brothers, Donald Heenan and Mike Heenan, both of East Tawns, Mich.; sisters, Dorothy Potts and Kathy Sheehan, both of East Tawns, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

William Paul Birdsong

PEARLAND - William Paul Birdsong, 87, died Monday, Aug. 1, 1997, in Pearland.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. at today at Southpark Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Bob Johnson and Luis White officiating. Burial will be at Southpark cemetery in Pearland. Funeral arrangements by Southpark Funeral Home.

He was born in Lebanon, Okla., and had been a resident of Pearland since 1968.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Eunice Birdsong of Pearland; sons, Kenneth Birdsong of Bokeelia, Fla., James Birdsong of Pearland and J.C. Birdsong of Houston; sister, Evelyn Thomas of Beaverton, Ore.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Jesus Miguel Bustos

SANDERSON - Jesus Miguel Bustos, 61, a ranch hand, died Sunday Aug. 31, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Rosary was said at Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church. ass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at St. James Catholic Church in Sanderson with the Rev. Jim Chaumont officiating. Burial will be at Santa Rita cemetery in Sanderson. Funeral arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Sanderson, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Manuela Bustos of Sanderson; son, Tomas Bustos of Sanderson; and three grandchildren.

Mary Elizabeth Hedges

ODESSA - Mary Elizabeth Hedges, 76, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 1997, at New Horizon Nursing Center.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Rose Hill cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Fort Smith, Ark., and was a resident of Odessa.

Odis Thursby

ODESSA - Odis Thursby, 74, a retired porter, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Tatum officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

He was born in Fort Worth and had been a resident of Odessa for 48 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Franceta Thursby of Wharton; daughter, Jacqueline Thursby Burditt of Odessa; son, Elmberto Xavier Thursby of Wharton; stepson, Anthony King of Giddings; stepdaughter, Rachell King of Houston; brothers, Walter Ray Thursby and Eddie Lee Thursby, both of Greenville; and sister, Ruby Jewel Jones of Greenville.

Frances Sharlin Shaw

RICHARDSON - Frances Sharlin Shaw, 33, a Human Resources department employee at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997, in Dallas.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship Church in Richardson. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery in Odessa. Arrangements by Restland Funeral Home.

She was born in Odessa and was a resident of Dallas. She was a member of North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship Church.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Lester Shaw and Beulah Shaw, both of Odessa; brother, Lester Shaw Jr. of Dallas; and sisters, Leslie Compton of Dallas and Sandra Shaw of Odessa.

E.M. 'Rip' Bailey

BIG SPRING - E.M. 'Rip' Bailey, 81, of Forsan, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, in Big Spring.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Big Spring with the Rev. Jack Clinkscales and the Rev. Dr. Stan Colby officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park. Arrangements by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring.

He was born in Nolan County and had been a resident of Big Spring since 1926. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Cleo S. Bailey of Forsan; son, E. Murl Bailey Jr. of Malaino; daughter, Kathy Jane Bailey of Odessa; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Bailey of Odessa; Gaylon Bailey of Morton; and sister, Winona Wiman of Lubbock.

Carolina Cadena

ODESSA - Carolina Karen Cadena, 30, a homemaker, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997, in Mexico.

Rosary will be said today at 2 p.m. at the Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Jospeh Catholic Church. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

She was a lifetime resident of Odessa.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Valerie Cadena of Odessa; son, Oscar Cadena Jr. of Odessa; stepmother, Isaura Sauceda of Odessa; brothers, Kenneth Sauceda, Mario Sauceda and Silvestre Sauceda, all of Odessa; and sister, Thomasa Sauceda of Odessa.
