FORT STOCKTON — Luisa Porras Garcia, 73, of Fort Stockton, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Fort Stockton Nursing Home in Fort Stockton.

Arrangements are pending with Memorial Funeral Home.

Betty Greenwood

ODESSA — Betty Greenwood, 70, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Arrangements are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Laura Tickner

ODESSA — Laura Maxine Tickner, 79, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Seabury Nursing Center.

Arrangements are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Ruby Barfield

PECOS — Ruby Nelle Barfield, 81, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. L.H. Woodard officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

She was born in Canadian and had been a resident of Pecos since 1951. She was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Son, John Barfield of Garden City; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Emma Duffield

ANDREWS — Emma Lea Duffield, 70, of Andrews, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Andrews North cemetery with the Rev. John McQueen officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

She was born in Dierks, Ark., and had been a resident of Andrews since 1958. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, John W. Duffield of Midland; daughters, Linda Rowe of Andrews and Carolyn Duncan of Tuskahoma, Okla.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

FORT STOCKTON — Luisa Porras Garcia, 73, of Fort Stockton, a homemaker, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, in Fort Stockton.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.

She was born in Fort Stockton. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, David Porras Rodriguez of Waco, Fernando Porras Rodriguez of Fort Myers, Fla., Joel Porras Rodriguez, Mario Porras and Billy Porras, all of Fort Stockton, and Cecilio Porras Baiza of Hobbs, N.M.; daughters, Norma Porras Pinedo of Crane, Brenda Porras Tarango and Rosie Baiza, both of Fort Stockton; sisters, Elfida Franco, Aurora Duran and Oralia Dominquez, all of Fort Stockton, and Eustolia Olguin of Lubbock; brother, Manuel Salmon of Fort Stockton; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Betty Greenwood

ODESSA — Betty Greenwood, 70, of Odessa, retired manager of Steinburg Enterprises, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Owen Sharp officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

She was born in Antlers, Okla., and had been a resident of Odessa since 1973. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Son, Willie N. Greenwood of Odessa; brothers, Lee E. Day and James L. Day, both of Antlers; sisters, Bertha Filpular of Redding, Calif., and Alta Gilliam of Scroggins; and two stepgrandchildren.

Guadalupe Valenzuela

ALPINE — Guadalupe Valenzuela, 82, of Alpine, a retired construction worker, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Westwood Medical Center in Midland.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Angels cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Alpine. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Cecilia Toll of Segundo, Calif., and Olga Berlanga of Merced, Calif.; brother, Tino Valenzuela of Alpine; and three grandchildren.

Harold Smith

MIDLAND — Harold Joe Smith, 73, of Odessa, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Arrangements are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home.

Nila Mae Wood

ODESSA — Nila Mae Wood was a loving wife, moma, granny and great-granny. She was born in Sonora, Sept. 1, 1934. She went to be with our Lord Monday, Dec. 20, 1999.

She was married to Fred L. Wood Sr., Sept. 5,

1950, in Lovington, N.M.

She is survived by her brother, Joe Billy Hardin and his wife, Pat, Of Oolagah, Okla.; sons, Fred L. Wood Jr. and wife, Irma, John E. Wood and wife, Jessie; daughters, Anita Loftin and husband, Jerry, Deborah Wood and Judith Stewart, all of Odessa; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, John T. Hardin, in 1975; her sister, Frances Allcorn, in 1987; her mother, Nila Hardin, in 1989, her husband, Fred L. Wood Sr., in 1990; half-brother, Steve Higgins, in 1998; and daughter, Tommi Olson, in 1999.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mom loved the outdoors and children of all ages.

She was an extra-special granny to Elexis and Isaiah.

Jackie Jo Brown

LUBBOCK — Jackie Jo Brown, 80, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.

Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

She was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Canton. She married W.W. Brown Oct. 15, 1935, in Plainview. He preceded her in death Oct. 4, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Avon Carter.

She was a former longtime resident of Lubbock and a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Lubbock.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean Brown of Odessa; four grandchildren, Chris Cook, Bryan Cook, Lynn Edmondson and Amy McFerrin; and four great-grandchildren.

Local arrangements entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel.
