Ethel Guillory

OLLA, La. — Ethel Deville Guillory, 92, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home with the Rev. E.R. Johnson officiating. Burial was at Pine Hill cemetery in Urania, La. Arrangements by Riser Funeral Homes.

She was born in Deville, La. She was Pentecostal.

SURVIVORS: Son, Kenneth R. Guillory of Odessa; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Leith III

ALPINE — Kenneth Leith III, 74, of Alpine, a retired race car driver, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at his residence.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Geeslin Funeral Home. Burial will be at Elm Grove cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.

He was born in Joplin, Mo., and had been a resident of Alpine since 1985. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Son, Kenneth Leith IV of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Dr. Mary Parish and Frances Pontasch, both of Alpine, and Ann Griess of Houston; sister, Mary Gordon Rutrough of Florida; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Polly Shearman

RANKIN — Polly Curry Ferguson Shearman, 92, of Wink, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Winkler County Memorial Hospital in Kermit.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Church of Christ with Brian McGonagill officiating. Burial will follow at the Rankin cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

She was born in San Augustine County and had been a resident Wink since 1980. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Son, George Ferguson of Rankin; daughters, Sylvie Conner of Kermit, Lois Wright of Midland and Sharon Lloyd of Odessa; brother, Jeff Curry of Huntington; sister, Vera Wilkerson of Port Arthur; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Roland Sweazy

KERMIT — Roland E. Sweazy, 79, of Richardson, a retired oilfield welder, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Landmark Nursing Home in Richardson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Belvue Baptist Church with the Rev. Emmett Upchurch officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.

He was born in Beecher City, Ill., and had been a resident of Kermit. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Jewell Sweazy of Richardson; sons, Lewis Sweazy of Midland, Warren Sweazy of Garland and Rickey Sweazy of Whiteface; sister, Lucille Wright of Eureka, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Geraldine Poole

ODESSA — Geraldine Poole, 74, of Odessa died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at New Horizons Nursing Home.

Arrangements are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Maria Subia

AUSTIN — Maria Subia, 91, of Austin died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, in Austin.

Arrangements are pending with Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

Beverly Fabrygel

PECOS — Beverly Fabrygel, 84, of Pecos, a music teacher, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at a Pecos nursing home.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Fairview cemetery with the Rev. Ernest Waggoner officiating. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

She was born in Pecos. She was a member of First Christian Church.

SURVIVORS: Husband, R.L. Fabrygel of Pecos.

Leonel Luna

PHOENIX — Leonel G. Luna, 39, of Phoenix, an employee of the Arizona Department of Transportation, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in Phoenix.

Mass was celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at St. Catherine’s of Siena Catholic Church. Burial was in East Resthaven Park cemetery in Phoenix. Arrangements by Universal Sunset Funeral Chapel.

He was born in McCamey and had been a resident of McCamey before moving to Phoenix. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Marisela T. Luna of Phoenix; son, Lenny Luna Jr. of McCamey; daughters, Brenda Luna and Marlene T. Luna, both of Phoenix; father, Albino Luna of McCamey; mother, Consuelo Luna of Phoenix; sisters, Lupe Solis of Phoenix, Rosa Casas of Phoenix, Otilia Urias of Phoenix, Enedina Deanda of McCamey; and brothers, Mundo Luna of Chihuahua, Mexico, Arturo Luna of Hobbs, N.M., Carlos Luna of Phoenix, and Eloy Deanda of Odessa.

Rosa Marquez

STANTON — Rosa Montez Marquez, 84, of Stanton, a homemaker, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Arturo Pestin officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel.

She was born in Valentine. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Macario Marquez of Sierra Blanca, Jesus Marquez of Odessa, Lorenzo Marquez of Fort Stockton, Timothy Marquez, Cleto Marquez, Anastacio Marquez, Daniel Marquez, Andres Marquez, Raymond Marquez, Manuel Marquez and Joe Louis Marquez, all of Stanton; daughters, Leonor Urbina, Elisa Marquez, Mary Lou Sotelo and Margie Flores, all of Stanton; brother, Apolinar Montez of Monahans; 57 grandchildren; 105 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Helen Patterson

CRANE — Helen Clara Patterson, 78, of Crane, a homemaker, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at noon Wednesday at Crane County cemetery with the Rev. Barry McClean and Julio Carrasco officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richard W. Box Funeral Home.

She was born in Chicago and had lived in Crane for 40 years. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Sandra Lee Thompson of Arlington and Vickie Lynn McLean of Big Spring; son, Glen Patterson of Fallbrook, Calif.; sister, Gen Hill of Tyler; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Geraldine Poole

STANTON — Geraldine Poole, 75, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at New Horizon Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.

She was born in San Antonio.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Madylon Lawrence of Crane, Beverly Strickland of Stanton and Linda Rayburn of Kentucky.

Velda Sprouse

EASTLAND — Velda Marie Sprouse, 87, of Eastland, a retired hair stylist, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Stephenville.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Eastland City cemetery. Arrangements by Edwards Funeral Home.

She was born in Clarksville, Ark., and moved to Odessa in 1950. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Zeb Francis of Coachella, Calif., Bob Francis of Whittier, Calif., James W. Francis of Proctor and Paul Francis of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Joyce Willhelm of Eastland; brother, Noah James Hobson of Diamond Bar, Calif.; sister, Virginia Rose Hobson of Van Buren, Ark.; four grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Charis Young

KERMIT— Charis Gale Young, 53, of Midland, a receptionist, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Emmett Upchurch officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel Inc.

She was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, and had lived in Midland for 10 years.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Ted and Winnie Young of Kermit; brothers, Chris Young and Kevin Young, both of Midland.
