FORT STOCKTON Fernando M. Esqueda, 74, of Fort Stockton, a retired seismographic crewman, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, in Fort Stockton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Triunfo de la Fe Church. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Teague and was a resident of Fort Stockton since 1969. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Margarita Esqueda of Fort Stockton; sons, Juan Esqueda, Fernando Esqueda Jr., Davis Esqueda and Joe Esqueda, all of Fort Stockton; daughters, Mary Galindo and Elvira Nieto, both of Fort Stockton; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Arlene Heun
EARLY, Iowa Arlene Viola Heun, 82, of Pratt, Kan., a retired farmer, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Southwind Hospice in Pratt.
Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. July 6 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. James Dieker officiating. Burial was at Early Union cemetery. Arrangements were by Farber and Otteman Funeral Home.
She was born in Breda, Iowa, and had been a resident of Early, Iowa.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Darwin Heun of Halstead, Kan., Edward Heun of Fremont, Neb., Marlin Heun and Kevin Heun, both of Weatherford, and Arlen Heun of Marion; daughters, MaDonna Heun and Joan Hendrix, both of Odessa, and Glenda Pokorny of Howells, Neb.; brothers, Reinard Janssen of Elizabeth, Colo., and Marvin Janssen of Sac City, Iowa; sisters, Ardola Huisenga, Nera Zimmer and Wanda Bulten, all of Early; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Ruby Weathersby
ODESSA Ruby Eleanore Weathersby, 80, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, July 13, 2001, at her residence.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. David Mindel officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Sapulpa, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1927 from Crane. She was Christian.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Hugh Weathersby of Odessa; daughter, Carla Weathersby of Odessa; sister, Shirley Thacker of Dallas; and two grandchildren.
Evelyn Baker
MESQUITE Evelyn Baker, 93, of Mesquite died Friday, July 13, 2001, in Mesquite.
Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

ALPINE - Eulalio Morales Bermudez, 81, of Alpine, a retired plumber, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Big Bend Regional Hospital.
Mass will celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Burial will follow at the Holy Angels cemetery. Rosary will be said today at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
He was born in Alpine and was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Maria Bermudez of Alpine; sons, Ernesto Bermudez, Antonio Molinar, both of Alpine; daughter, Rita Ramirez of El Paso; brothers, Felix Bermudez and Esiquiel Bermudez, both of Alpine; sisters, Minga Minjarez, Ramona Llanez, both of Alpine, and Manuela Armendariz of Port Orchard, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Inez Castillo
STANTON - Inez Chapa Castillo, 74, of Stanton, a homemaker, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. George Thirumangalam officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic cemetery. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today and Monday at Stanton Memorial Chapel. Arrangements by Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel.
She was born in Beeville. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Ignacio Castillo of Stanton; sons, Ignacio Castillo Jr. of Big Spring, Ramon Castillo of Union City, Ohio, Ramiro Castillo of Stanton, Antonio Castillo, Abelardo Castillo and Gilberto Castillo, all of Stanton; daughters, Maria Delao, Helen Valdez and Inez Torrez, all of Stanton, Carmen Ramirez of Gatesville, Juana Perez of Waukegan, Ill., and Lupe Benavidez of Midland; brother, Marcial Chapa of Bertram; sisters, Herminia Padron and Mercedes Valles, both of Stanton, and Juanita Lopez of Plainview; 50 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.

ANDREWS - Carol Tidwell, 66, of Andrews, a retired video store owner, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Permian General Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Linton officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. at the Elmwood Memorial Park cemetery in Abilene. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Anson and moved to Andrews in 1975.
SURVIVORS: Sons, David Tidwell, James Tidwell and Clay Tidwell, all of Andrews; daughters, Wanda Tidwell of Odessa, Marcia Tidwell and Vicky Tidwell, both of Andrews; mother, Audie Bowers of Abilene; sister, Wanda Anthony of Abilene; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
D.W. Blackwell
RANGER - D.W. “Slim” Blackwell, 89, of Midland, retired owner and operator of Blackwell Mobile Home Supply in Odessa, died Friday, June 15, 2001, at his residence.
Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Alameda cemetery near Ranger. Arrangements by Edwards Funeral Home.
He was born in Chaney and had been a resident of Odessa. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Cindi Matheny of Tulsa, Okla.; sons, David Blackwell of Midland and Bill Blackwell of Springdale, Ark.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Truman Goss
SEMINOLE - Truman Harty Goss, 85, of Seminole, a retired oilfield worker and farmer, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in Seminole.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at M.S. Doss Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Bates officiating. Burial will follow at the Gaines County cemetery South. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.
He was born in Winnsboro and moved to Seminole in 1960 from Post. He was Pentecostal.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Dorothy Goss of Seminole; sons, Doyle Goss of Seminole and Charles Goss of Lexington, Okla.; daughters, Geneva Belongia of Post, Joyce McNew of Andrews and Linda Morris of Seminole; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Augustine Phenix
KERMIT - Augustine “Sassy” Phenix, 58, of Kermit, a homemaker, died Friday, June 15, 2001, at Kermit Healthcare Center in Kermit.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kermit cemetery with the Rev. H.A. Bowens officiating. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
She was born in Rosebud and was a resident of Kermit for 48 years. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Jacquline Phenix and Samantha Phenix, both of Kermit; mother, Johnnie Mae Cook of Kermit; sisters, Viola Rucker of El Paso, Patricia Cook of Dallas, Mary Ann Thomas and Louise Cox, both of Kermit, and Bobbie Jean Nunn of Monahans; and two grandchildren.
Howard Wall
KERMIT - Howard N. Wall, 72, of Kermit, a retired service station owner, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Belvue Baptist Church with the Rev. Emmett Upchurch officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
He was born in Elgin, Kan., and was a resident of Kermit for 59 years. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Vella Wall of Kermit; son, Joe Wall of Wink; daughter, Zotyne Smith of Kermit; stepsons, Bryan Gray and Mike Gray, both of Kermit; brother, Dolphus Wall of Odessa; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Calvin Wilson
KERMIT - Calvin F. Wilson, 76, of Wink, a retired self-employed contractor and pumper, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Redwine officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
He was born in Trent and was a resident of Wink for 56 years. He was Baptist.
