RANGER - Valentine “Val” Castro, 50, of Odessa, a mechanic, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at his residence.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Speer officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements were by Edwards Funeral Home.
He was born in Ranger and moved to Odessa in 1973. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Van Castro, Thad Castro, Brian Castro and James Castro, all of Odessa; brother, Joe Castro of Royce City; sisters, Helen Gomez, Rosa Waltman and Caroline Martinez, all of Ranger, Lupe Rodriguez of Cedar Hill, and Julie Acosta of Naples, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.
Elton Harber
ODESSA— Elton Ray Harber, 41, of Odessa, a truck driver, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Weeks Dubose officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Hobbs, N.M., and moved to Odessa in 1983.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Diane Harber of Odessa; sons, Coby Ray Harber of Wyoming and Evan Ryan Harber of Odessa; sisters, Meagan Brackin and Maya Harber, both of Odessa, and Nichole Harber of Wyoming; brothers, Bob Harber of Odessa and Dale Harber of Denver.
LoVella Teston
ODESSA— LoVella Marie Teston, 70, of Odessa, a retired waitress, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Weeks Dubose offficiating. Arrangments by Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Electra and moved to Odessa in 1940. She was a Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Robert Teston of Odessa, Donald White of Grosebeck and Billy Rose of Austin; daughters Gracie Jones and Brenda Ally, both of Odessa; brother, Earl Israel of Dallas; 16 grandchilren; and 26 great-grandchildren

OJINAGA, Chihuahua, Mexico - Sara Acosta Juarez, 76, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 6 p.m. today at Nuestro Padre de Jesus Catholic Church in Ojinaga. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.
She was born in El Mulato, Chihuahua. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Jose Juarez Polanco of Odessa; sons, Jose Javier Juarez and Raul Joventino Juarez, both of Ojinaga, Mexico; Walter Juarez and Fernando Juarez, both of Odessa, Ricardo Juarez of Midland and Alejandro Alex Juarez of Andrews; daughters, Maria Elsa Juarez and Sylvia Medrano, both of Ojinaga, Mexico and Sulema Coronel of Odessa; brothers, Eulugio Acosta, Elizar Acosta, Emilio Acosta, Mundo Acosta, Elizardo Acosta, all of Andrews, and Enrique Acosta of Odessa; sisters, Ofelia Bustamente, Lidia Molinar and Rosa Vasquez, all of Andrews, and Consuelo Lujan of Odessa, 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

CARRIZOZO, N.M. Ruth Armstrong, 83, of Carrizozo, N.M., a retired real estate agent, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, in Albuquerque, N.M.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Hayden Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale cemetery. Arrangements by LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso, N.M.
She was born in Matador. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Sons, John Armstrong of Santa Fe, N.M., Dan Armstrong and Gary Armstrong, both of Albuquerque; daughter, Virginia Ginger Morrison of Albuquerque; sisters, Ruby Goates of Odessa, Lorene Sands of Plainview, Dorothy Powell of Midland and Betty Martin of Lubbock; and 10 grandchildren.

FORT STOCKTON Adan Benavides Gonzales, 59, of Fort Stockton, a plant operator, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in Fort Stockton.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Revs. David Herrera and Joe Vasquez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Fort Stockton and had been a resident of Paceda, Calif., before moving to Fort Stockton in 1974. He was Catholic.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Valerie Tyann Anderson, 53, of Odessa, a retired employee of the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in St. Augustine, Fla., died Monday, June 4, 2001, at her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant African Methodist Episcopal Church. Burial will be at Red Hunters Hollywood Memorial Park. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was born in Waterbury, Conn., and had been a resident of New Haven, Conn. She was African Methodist Episcopalian.

He was born in George West and was a lifelong resident of Monahans. He was an Army veteran.
