Willie Turner

ROCHESTER, Texas - Willie Mae Goode Turner, 87, a homemaker, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at her residence.

Services were Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. James Patterson and Trey Turner officiating. Burial was at Rochester cemetery. Arrangements by Smith Funeral Home.

She was born in Decatur and was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Loveta Hearn of Rochester, Maxine Ingle of Beeville, Frances Meier of Old Glory, Frankie Simpkins of Big Spring, Mollie Lee of Clyde, Jean Meier of Rule and Ann Wright of Nashville, Tenn.; sons, S.F. 'Sam' Turner Jr. of Monahans and Kenneth Turner of Nashville.; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Cynthia Walker

FORT STOCKTON - Cynthia 'Cindy' Anne Walker, 41, of Fort Stockton, a waitress, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997, at Fort Stockton Nursing Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Witcher officiating and at 2 p.m. Friday at Interstate Baptist Church in Shaw, Miss. Burial will be at Interstate Baptist Church cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Cleveland, Miss., and had lived in Fort Stockton for 20 years after moving from Lubbock.

SURVIVORS: Father, John R. Slawson of Midland; stepmother, Emily Slawson of Midland; grandmother, Jimmie Abston of Shaw; daughter, Sherrice LeAnne Walker of Fort Stockton; brothers, Barry Slawson and Mark Hill of Midland, Scott Slawson of Indianola, Miss.; sisters, D'Lynn Ketterman of San Antonio and Karen Williams of Indianola.

James Roberts

ANDREWS - James Roberts, 74, of Andrews died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at St. Luke's Methodist Hospital in Houston. Services are pending under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Jewell Ballew

MIDLAND - Jewell Savage Ballew, 56, a care giver for Terrace West Nursing Home, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, in Midland.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Porterfield officiating. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

She was born in Arkansas and moved to Midland in 1959 from Winters.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Leon Ballew of Midland; daughters, Vicki Miller of Clovis, N.M., and Shari Salama, Joni Hooten and Patti Ballew, all of Midland; brother, Ray Savage of San Luis, Colo.; and seven grandchildren.

Michael Chamberlain

MONAHANS - Michael Frederick Chamberlain, 54, a self-employed bookkeeper, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at his residence.

No services will be held. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Memphis, Texas, and was a resident of Monahans. He was a Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Gailan W. Chamberlain of Monahans; daughters, Michaelle Chamberlain and Prairie Chamberlain, both of Monahans and Tiffany Chamberlain of Garland; father, Gene Chamberlain of Memphis, Texas; brother, John Chamberlain of Memphis; and two grandchildren.

Kenneth McDonald

ODESSA - Kenneth McDonald, 63, an aircraft machinist, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Sweetwater and had been a resident of Odessa since 1951. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Bobby McDonald of Midlothian and Kenneth McDonald of Azle; daughters, Robbie McDonald of Carlsbad, N.M., and Eva McDonald of Odessa; brother, Paul McDonald of Alabama; sister, Justine Manning of Fort Worth; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

LaVeta McLemore

RUIDOSO, N.M. - LaVeta McLemore, 61, died Monday, Dec. 22, 1997, at her residence.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Ruidoso Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Turner officiating. Burial will be at Capitan cemetery. Arrangements by LaGrone Funeral Chapel.

She was born in Electra and was a resident of Odessa before moving to Alto in 1993. She was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Cotton McLemore of Alto; sons, Richard Lynn McLemore of Springtown, and Kevin Dale McLemore of Phoenix; mother, Rose Cross of Denver; brother, Harold Cross of Denver; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Shirlene Maddox

ODESSA - Shirlene Patricia Maddox, 61, a retired bookkeeper, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at Columbia Medical Center in Fort Worth.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Odessa and was a resident of Fort Worth. She was a Christian.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Patrick Maddox of Fort Worth; sons, Moses Maddox and Bill Kaesberger, both of Fort Worth; daughter, Kim Jones of Fort Worth; mother, Lavern Nutter of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Mobley

ANDREWS - Elizabeth Mobley, 82, a homemaker, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at her residence.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gayle McCoy officiating. Burial will be in the Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

She was born in Floydada and was a resident of Andrews. She was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Aubrey Mobley of Granite Shoals, Charles Mobley of Bayfield, Colo., and Jimmy Mobley of Kermit; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Refugio Rangel

FORT STOCKTON - Refugio M. Rangel Sr., 68, an engineer, of Fort Stockton died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Memorial Hospital in Midland.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Chaumont officiating. Rosary was said Monday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Fort Stockton and was a lifelong resident. He was a Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Candida Rangel of Fort Stockton; sons, Refugio Rangel Jr., Salvador Rangel Sr., Amando Rangel Sr., Ysmael Rangel, Noel Rangel and Remigio Rangel, all of Fort Stockton; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Lela Williams

PECOS - Lela Marie Hamshire Williams, 87, a homemaker and a partner in a family business, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at her residence.

Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at St. Catherine's Catholic Church with the Rev. Juan Narez officiating. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

She was born in Beaumont and had lived in Pecos since 1940. She was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Sons, John Hamshire Williams of Dallas, and Richard 'Sonny' Williams of Austin; daughters, Mary Ann Harrison of Lubbock, and Sarah Helen 'Sally' Perry of Pecos; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Edmond Wilson

WINFIELD - Edmond L. Wilson, 74, a retired refinery worker, of Ponca City, Okla., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Services were held Dec. 17 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Graveside services were held Dec. 17 at Walnut Valley Memorial Park in El Dorado. Arrangements by Miles Funeral Home.

He was born near Rock, Kan., and moved to Ponca City in 1995. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Betty Wilson of Ponca City; sons, Allen Wilson of Odessa, and Jerry Wilson of Oxford, Kan.; daughters, Linda Williard of Burden, Kan., and Velda Smalley of Oxford, Kan.; sisters, Stella Brill of Udall, Kan., Mary Etta Pruitt and Emma Twibel, both of El Dorado, Grace Morgan of Atlanta, Kan., and Edith Spencer of Rock, Kan.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
