ODESSA - John F. Ager, 80, of Odessa, a retired pumpjack mechanic for Phillips Petroleum Co., died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Hospice House.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Roy Jones officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Oilton, Okla. He was a Coast Guard veteran. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Stella Ager of Odessa; son, Brian Keith Ager of Crownsville, Md.; daughters, Marilyn Ager and Carla Jo Wheeler, both of Odessa; brother, Thomas Nedford Ager of Grove, Okla.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Gloria Alvarez
PECOS - Gloria Alvarez, 45, of Manor, a convenience store clerk, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, in Austin.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Miguel Angel Sanchez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at 1938 Adams St. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in Fort Stockton. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Ramon Alvarez of Manor; sons, Ramon Alvarez and Charlie Alvarez, both of Manor; daughters, Mary Valenzuela of Pecos and Gloria Rebecca Alvarez of Manor; mother, Josie Rayos of Pecos; brother, Pete Rayos of Manor; sisters, Norma Villarrel of Pecos, Priscilla Rodriguez of Hobbs, N.M., Mandy Sotelo and Melissa Sotelo, both of Pecos; and six grandchildren.

Angie Carrillo
KERMIT - Angie Briones Carrillo, 50, of Kermit, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roberto Moreno officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
She was born in Ojinaga, Mexico, and was a resident of Kermit for 37 years. She was Pentecostal.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Fabian Carrillo Sr. of Kermit; sons, Fabian Carrillo Jr. of San Antonio, Andy Carrillo of Houston, Adam Carrillo of Kermit and Tony Carrillo of Midland; daughter, Ana Alicia Carrillo of Kermit; mother, Josefa Briones of Kermit; brothers, Tomas Briones of Phoenix, Carlos Briones of Kermit and Paul O. Briones of Odessa; sisters, Marcela Martinez and Delma Sanchez, both of Kermit, and Alicia Ortiz of Andrews; and six grandchildren.

Elwin Denny Sr.
ANDREWS - Elwin LeRoy Denny Sr., 84, of Andrews, a retired drilling superintendent for Amoco, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ivy Shelton officiating. Burial will be at the Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Dewey, Okla., and moved to Andrews in 1945. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Myrtle Denny of Andrews; son, Elwin LeRoy Denny Jr. of Midland; daughter, Pamela Joy Thurmond of Skellytown; stepson, Bob Wagner of Midwest City, Okla.; stepdaughter, Joy Keith of Clovis, N.M.; sister, Betty Bishop of Oklahoma City; stepbrother, Bob Luck of Midland; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Murrell
ODESSA - Mary Belle Murrell, 88, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Hospice House.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Christian Fellowship Church with the Rev. Bob Cheek officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Tolar and moved to Odessa in 1955 from Goldsmith. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Son, Rex A. Murrell of Newalla, Okla.; daughters, Jane Hext and Glenna B. Cheek, both of Odessa; brother, George T. Wilcox Jr. of Cisco; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

James Slay
KERMIT - James T. Slay, 81, of Kermit, a retired rental car transporter, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at his residence.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday at the Kermit cemetery with the Rev. Emmett Upchurch officiating. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
He was born in Dewar, Okla., and was a resident of Kermit for eight years. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Corrine Slay of Kermit; sons, James Slay of Cushing, Okla., Mark Slay of Kermit, Scott Slay of Pampa, Gary Slay of Fort Smith, Ark., Jerry Slay of Georgia and Pat Slay of Cedarville, Ark.; brothers, Bobby Slay of Amarillo, Leroy Slay of Muskogee, Okla., and Jack Slay of Perry, Okla.; sisters, Helen Downing of Seminole, Okla., and Glenda Sue Elling of Plano; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

ODESSA - Lester H. Williams Sr., 82, of Weslaco, a retired oilfield worker, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, in Weslaco.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Turnersville. He was Army veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Maye Williams of Weslaco; sons, Lester M. Williams Jr. of Odessa, David Lee Williams of McAllen and John Wesley Williams of Weslaco; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Nancy Wolcott
BIG SPRING - Nancy Wolcott, 73, of Big Spring, a retired waitress, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, in Big Spring.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Myers and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park. Arrangements by Myers and Smith Funeral Home.
She was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., and moved to Big Spring in 1966 from Illinois.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Earl Sherrill of Midland, Austin Sherrill of Big Spring and Kenny Sherrill of Garden City; daughter, Patrice Fiveash of Paint Rock; sisters, Kathleen Foster of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Peggy Esch of Grand Rapids, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

MIDLAND - Richard Gene Koerner, 68, of Midland died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.

ODESSA - Winnie Eulene Baker, 84, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Avalon Place.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Bushart officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Strawn. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Frank Baker of Odessa; daughter, Linda Carol Baker of Midland; and a grandson.

Loyd Franklin Sr.
ODESSA - Loyd Michael “Mike” Franklin Sr., 51, of Odessa, a maintenance worker for the Ector County Independent School District, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Weeks Dubose officiating. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Jena, La., and moved to Odessa in 1951 from Alexandria, La. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Sue Franklin of Odessa; son, Michael Franklin of Odessa; daughter, Teresa Franklin of Odessa; parents, Loyd and Margaret Franklin of Odessa; brothers, James Franklin, Russell Franklin and Terrall Franklin, all of Odessa; sister, Kathy Martin of Odessa; and two grandchildren.

MONAHANS - Mildred “Milly” Jacobs, 89, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Monahans Managed Care Center in Monahans.
