Oleta Downing
ODESSA - Oleta Downing, 79, of Odessa passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, in Odessa. She was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Henrietta to the Rev. George and Gracie Stone.
She married Ed Downing on Feb. 2, 1945, in Houston. They moved to Odessa in 1950 from Alvin. She was a very active member of Bible study fellowship classes and worked for the Texas Highway Department for 25 years. She retired in 1982.
Five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Downing of Odessa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Dinneen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Margarita Baeza
ODESSA - Margarita Baeza, 73, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery with Don Goforth officiating. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Del Rio and was a lifelong resident of Odessa. She was Christian.
SURVIVORS: Son, Efrain Baeza of Odessa; daughters, Rosinda Baeza and Adela Gutierrez, both of Odessa; brothers, Martin Enriquez of San Antonio and Juan Enriquez of Del Rio; sister, Beatrice Rodriguez of Del Rio; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Clark
ODESSA - Myrtle Lee Clark, 82, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darren Willis officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Prattsville, Ark.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Myrtle Faye Webbs of Odessa; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Clifton Franklin
WHITEHOUSE - Clifton Franklin, 78, of Whitehouse, a retired oilfield pumper, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, in Tyler.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Davis officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside cemetery in Stamps, Ark. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home.
He was born in Stamps and had been a resident of Odessa. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Frances Franklin of Whitehouse; daughter, Carolyn Evans of Whitehouse; son, Bob Franklin of Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Effie Mae Archer of Hope, Ark.; two grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.

Angeline Guyton
ODESSA - Angeline 'Cookie' Guyton, 44, of Odessa, a custodian for the Ector County Independent School District, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at King Solomon Baptist Church with the Rev. G.T. Garnett II officiating. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Son, Shaquay Gant of Odessa; daughters, Shinika Guyton of Houston and Lacie Johnson of Odessa; mother, Bobbie Caufield of Odessa; father, Elmer Guyton Sr. of Lansing, Mich.; brothers, Elmer Guyton Jr., David Guyton and Kevin Guyton, all of Odessa; sisters, Vivian Washington of Houston, Carolyn Jackson of Midland, Linda Guyton, Debra Ward, Sue Rougeaux, Charlotte Caufield and La Shirl Caufield, all of Odessa; and grandmother, Bettie Brown of Moody.

Devin Harrison
ODESSA - Devin Monroe Harrison, 8 months, of Odessa died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kyle Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Father, Tony Harrison of Odessa; mother, Emily Moore of Odessa; grandparents, John and Kay Harrison and Judy Moore, all of Odessa, and Mike and Penney Moore of Midland; and great-grandparents, James and Betty Moore of Brady, Don Hooper and Joanne Whitmire, both of Odessa.

Merle Hopper
McCAMEY - Merle Hopper, 86, of McCamey, a homemaker, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at the McCamey Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the McCamey Church of Christ with Saul Blair officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
She was born in Stephens County and was a resident of McCamey since 1947. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Sister, Maedelle Bobenhausen of Jacksonville, Ky.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Richard Jacquez Sr.
PYOTE - Richard Jacquez Sr., 64, of Pyote, a truck driver, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Burial will be at the Pyote cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.
He was born in El Carrizo, Mexico, and moved to Pyote in 1976 from Pecos. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Guadalupe Jacquez of Pyote; sons, Richard Jacquez Jr. and Henry Jacquez, both of Pyote, and Teofilo Jacquez of Wink; daughters, Anna Ortega of Pyote, Martha McCall of Longview, Kelly Metcalf and Theresa Herrera, both of Pecos; and 12 grandchildren.

Alicia Mata
PECOS - Alicia C. Mata, 81, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Miguel Angel officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in Marfa and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Luciano Mata of Pecos; son, Fred Mata of Odessa; daughter, Susie Granado of Pecos; brothers, Pedro Cortez and Ismael Juarez, both of Marfa, and Frank Cortez of Tulare, Calif.; sisters, Rosa Ontiveros of Pecos, Irene Roman of Marfa and Hortencia Chavira of El Paso; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Wheeler Merckle
MIDLAND - Wheeler Donald Merckle, 70, of Granite Shoals died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, in Austin.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
He was born in Wheeling, W.Va.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Elizabeth Robinett Merckle of Granite Shoals; daughter, Donna Edney of Midland; son, Steven Merckle of Lafayette, La.; stepdaughter, Lisa Klein of South Lake; sisters, June Lynskey of Wheeling and Doris Schaber of Woodsfield, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.

ANDREWS - Louis Price, 83, of Andrews, a homemaker, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Andrews Healthcare Center in Andrews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ivy Shelton officiating. Burial will be at the Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Enid, Okla., and was a longtime resident of Andrews. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Eddie Price of Fort Collins, Colo., and Jamey Price of Andrews; daughters, Lynda Bendict of Duncanville and Judy Beck of Andrews; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Leevester Williams
ODESSA - Leevester Williams, 62, of Odessa, a retired oilfield technician, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. E.J. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Dallas.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Lola M. Williams of Odessa; brother, A.C. Wilson Jr. of Odessa; and sisters, Linda K. Shedwin of San Antonio, Bertha F. Lewis of Houston and Betty J. Brooks of Odessa.
