Florine Ward

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florine Ward, 78, of Greensboro, N.C., died Wednesday Jan. 21, 1998.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel. Arrangements by Forbis and Dick Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born in Big Spring.

SURVIVORS: Son, G.R. 'Buster' Ward of Greensboro, N.C.; sisters, Ernestine Belk of Oklahoma City; Tommie Cochran of Odessa; and brother, Sam Daniels of Odessa.

Edward Draughan

KERMIT - Edward Louis Draughan, 20, a stocker for Coca-Cola, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 1997, in Amarillo.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Eastside Church of Christ with Jody Garrett, H.A. Bowens and Brian McGonagill officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home.

He was a lifetime resident of Kermit. He was a member of the Army National Guard and the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Jessie Alexander and James Alexander, both of Kermit; sisters, Glinda R. Thompson of Odessa and Shannon Yvette Thompson of Amarillo; and grandmothers, Mary Ann Thompson of Kermit and Ruby Woods of Denver.

Buford Dulin

DENVER CITY - Buford Lawrence Dulin, 83, retired from Yoakum County Hospital, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 1997, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Big Spring after a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Denver City Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Auld officiating. Arrangements by Roger Pool Funeral Home in Seminole.

He was born in Bellevue, Clay County, was a resident of Denver City for 53 years. He was a Baptist and an Army veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Joe Wheeler of Ingleside, Larry Dulin of Burnet, Mike Dulin of Kilgore and Pat Dulin of Andrews; daughter, Wan Smith of The Woodlands; brother, W.B. 'Dub' Dulin of Denver City; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Golda Ervin

ANDREWS - Golda N. Ervin, 74, a retired registered nurse, died Sunday Oct. 26, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Andrews County cemetery with the Rev. Nick Gates officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Comanche County and moved to Odessa in 1965 from Andrews. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Sons; Robert D. Ervin and Henry P. Ervin, both of Odessa and Carl W. Ervin of Venus; brother, Lawrence Allen of Big Spring; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bobbie Evans

CRANE - Bobbie Evans, 71, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Crane County cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Home.

She was born in Fort Towson, Okla., and moved to Crane in 1955. She was a member of Crane Christian Church.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Jack Evans of Crane; son, Mike Evans of Slaton; daughter, Sue Elder of Midland; sister, Joyce Estes of Crane; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jack Gunkel

ODESSA - Jack Elvin Gunkel, 80, a retired drilling superintendent, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dean Kelm and Paul Will Weber officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Coyle, Okla., and was a resident of Odessa. He was a Lutheran.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Ada Gunkel of Odessa; daughter, Frances Boyles of Odessa; brothers, Robert Gunkel, Wallace Gunkel and Lynford Gunkel, all of Coyle; sister, Wilma Lee Ringwald of Coyle; and one grandchild.

Robert Hamill

PALESTINE - Robert LaWayne 'Robby' Hamill, 30, a field supervisor for 4-H Oil Field Services, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, in Palestine.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. David McCormick officiating. Burial will be at Land of Memory cemetery. Arrangements by Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

He was born in Odessa and moved to Palestine in 1984. He was a member of Trinity Valley Community Church.

SURVIVORS: Parents, Bob Hamill and Mary Hamill, both of Carlsbad, N.M., and Linda Hamill of Palestine; grandmothers, Bobbie Hamill of Odessa and Bonnie Mathinson of Palestine; brothers, Bobby Hamill of Monahans, Mike Hamill of Palestine and Mitch Hamill of Smithville, Va.; and sister, Amber Hamill of Carlsbad, N.M.

Mary Loveland

ODESSA - Mary Lou Loveland, 88, a retired office manager, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Don Palmer officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

She was born in Myro and moved to Odessa in 1994 from Phoenix. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Nephew, James F. Smith of New York; and nieces, Myra Beck of Odessa and Lou Ann Sanders of Lovington, N.M.

Twyman Poe

FORT STOCKTON - Twyman D. Poe, 58, a roughneck in the oil industry, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, in Odessa.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Witcher officiating. Burial will be in East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Brady and had been a resident of Fort Stockton since August, having moved from Plains. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Nita Ann Burrows of Hobbs, N.M.; mother, Alma Poe of Plains; brothers, Don Poe of Denver City and Robert Poe of Harrison, Ark.; sisters, Wanda Rose of Bridgeport and Debbie Kennedy of Fort Stockton; and one grandchild.

Elizabeth Sutton

ODESSA - Elizabeth 'Betty' Jean Sutton, 72, a retired waitress, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Brownwood Regional Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park with the Rev. Clarence Smith officiating. Arrangements by Walker Funeral Home in Coleman.

She was born in Omaha, Neb., and was a resident of Coleman.

SURVIVORS: Sons, William 'Bill' Paul Sutton and Jerry Carrol Sutton, both of Odessa; daughters, Shirley Barrett of Lucene, Calif., and Gloria Edmiston of Coleman; and sister, Arlene Foster of Nevado, Calif.

Jesus Tavarez

MONAHANS - Jesus Tavarez, 34, an employee of R & H Well Service, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at Lubbock University Medical Center.

Rosary was said Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Harkey Funeral Home.

He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, and was a longtime resident of Monahans. He was a Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Norma Hernandez Tavarez of Monahans; daughters, Jessica and Stephanie Tavarez of Monahans; parents, Ramon Tavarez and Emma Valenzuela Tavarez, both of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico; brothers, Edwardo Tavarez and Ramon Tavarez, both of Monahans, and Partricio Tavarez of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico; sisters, Maria Elvia Trevizo of Monahans and Elpedia Mendoza and Manuela Tarango, both of Fort Worth.
