RANKIN — L.L. “Tex” Collins, 72, of San Angelo, a retired employee of Union Texas, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Rankin cemetery. Arrangements by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
He was born in Carlsbad, N.M., and had been a resident of Rankin.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Peggy Collins of San Angelo; daughters, Caye Lankford of Cypress and Faye Deel of Sonora; sons, Bart Collins of Midland and Brent Collins of Odessa; eight grandchildren; three step grandsons; a great-grandson; and two step great-grandchildren.

Helen Cook
KINGSLAND — Helen L. Cook, 80, of Kingsland, a homemaker, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in Kingsland.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Blackstone officiating. Burial will be at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet. Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home.
She was born in Cottonwood and had been a resident of Odessa. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Husband, L.D. Cook of Kingsland; daughter, Jerry Lynn Woolard of Kingsland; son, Dale Allan Cook of Odessa; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pioquinto Diaz
BIG SPRING — Pioquinto “Jacinto” Diaz, 84, of Big Spring, owner of Diaz Janitorial Service, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Myers and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Eliseo Gamboa officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olive cemetery. Arrangements by Myers and Smith Funeral Home.
He was born in Falls City and was a resident of Big Spring for 55 years.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Maria Franco of Big Spring; sons, Abel Diaz, Ernest Diaz and Salvador Diaz, all of Big Spring; daughters, Viola Cooper of Midland and Estella Valenzuela of Gardendale; sisters, Logaria Molina, Martina Garcia and Eulalia Gauena, all of San Antonio, and Asencion Vasquez of Corpus Christi; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Manuel Mata
ODESSA — Manuel Mata, 69, of Odessa, a retired drywall contractor, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Deerings Nursing Home.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, and was a lifelong resident of Odessa. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Nettie Mata of Odessa; sons, James H. Hammond and Manuel Mata Jr., both of Florida, Tony Garcia of Indiana and Rosario Marcia of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico; daughters, Rosa L. Rangel and Barbara Rodriguez, both of Odessa, Vicki Wayne and Juanita Garcia, both of Indiana, Alicia Perez, Connie Mata, Elena Mata, Lola Mata and Rosa Mata, all of El Paso; brothers, Roberto Mata of New Mexico and Jesus Mata of Ciudad Juarez; 50 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Frances McConnell
ODESSA — Frances Eloise McConnell, 83, of Amarillo, a homemaker, died Monday, May 20, 2002, in Amarillo.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Perry Hunsaker officiating. Arrangements by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors.
She was born in Wichita Falls.
SURVIVORS: Son, Loyd A. McConnell Jr. of Odessa; daughter, Carol Schmieding of Amarillo; brother, R.L. Dodd of Fort Worth; sister, Martha Young of Mission; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Eloisa Soto
HEREFORD — Eloisa Soto, 87, of Hereford, a homemaker, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Larry Floyd officiating. Burial will be at West Park cemetery. Arrangements by Dix Funeral Directors.
She was born in Pearsall and was a resident of Hereford for 46 years.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Jose Soto of Weslaco, Paul Soto and Johnny Soto, both of Amarillo, David Soto and Isaiah Soto, both of Hereford, Crespin Soto of Dallas and Moses Soto of Odessa; daughters, Magdalena Beseril of Odessa, Peggy Beltran and Angelita Soto, both of Hereford; sisters, Catalina Campos of Colorado, Petra Berrelez of Pearsall and Julia Rodriguez of California; brothers, Manuel Berrelez and Jesus Berrelez, both of Pearsall; 39 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

CRANE — Trinidad Armendariz, 82, of Odessa died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Desert View Manor Nursing Home in Crane.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

ODESSA — Eloisa Molina, 69, of McCamey died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

Matilda Cano
PECOS - Matilda Cano, 77, of Pecos, a retired laborer, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at Reeves County Memorial Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Rosary will be said today at 8 p.m. at the Peaceful Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, Martin Cano of Odessa; daughters, Martha Cano, Ofilia Samaniego and Ivonne Flotte, all of Odessa, Blanca Leyva of Presidio and Griselda Anchondo of Pecos; brothers, Elizardo Cano, Ruberto Cano, Jesus Cano and Manuel Cano, all of Pueblito, Chihuahua, Mexico; sisters, Vizenta Cano and Eva Cano, both of Pueblito, Chihuahua, Mexico and Olga Nieto of Odessa; 29 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

ALPINE - Antonia Tarnago Cobos, 95, of Alpine, a homemaker, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at a Del Rio nursing home.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Alcuino officiating. Rosary will be said today at 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Holy Angels cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
She was born in Mexico. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, Jesus Cobos of Andrews; daughters, Inez Sanchez of Alpine, Fabiola Guevara of San Angelo and Maria Hernandez of Quemado; sister, Jesus Valenzuela of Alpine; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

FORT STOCKTON - Cristobal ‘Cris’ Martinez, 13, of Austin, a student, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, in Fort Stockton.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood cemetery.
He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Yolanda Urias; grandparents, Julia Olivas of Pecos and Dominga and Ricardo Santiesteban, of Ojinaga, Mexico; brothers, Lewis Martinez of Pecos, Jose Ari Martinez of Austin; sisters, Betty Muro of Austin and Yollisa Muro of Austin.

ABILENE - Thelma Jo Blankenship Morse, 81, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, in Abilene.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Bill Eason officiating. Burial will follow in McBee cemetery. Arrangements by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
She was born in Fannin County. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Peggy Swindle of Abilene; sons, James Blankenship and James Hazelle, both of Abilene; brothers, Tommy Irving of Mobile, Ala., Jimmy Irving of Winters and Barney Irving of Odessa; four grandchildren; and five great-grand-children.

ALPINE - Edith Martha Richardson, 92, of Alpine died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at a Fort Stockton hospital.

She was born in Knickerbockers. She was Methodist.
