Leta Hulse Jenkins
ODESSA — Leta Hulse Jenkins, 89, of Odessa passed away Monday, June 10, 2002, at a nursing home in Littlefield. She was born July 22, 1912, in Hollis, Okla.
Mrs. Jenkins moved to Odessa in 1951 from Brownfield where she had been a longtime resident. She moved to Brownfield in 1916 with her parents, Hugh and Ola Hulse, who were early settlers of Brownfield. She was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Jenkins, and son, Darrell Wayne Jenkins.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorma Nell Weaver of Amherst and Dixie Ruth Cunningham of Odessa; two sons, George Dale Jenkins and David Hugh Jenkins, both of Odessa; sister, Nevelle Boyd of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren, Darlene Hennigh, Linda Weaver, Lana Robinson, Denise Minyard, Chris Holcomb, Hannah Jenkins and Leah Jenkins; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 12, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at the Old Brownfield cemetery with the Rev. J. Earl Dunn officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Holcomb, Nelson Minyard, Wes Hennigh, Anthony Booth, Brock Hennigh, Houston Hennigh and Michael Minyard.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Lou Dell Pitts
SAN ANGELO — Lou Dell Pitts, 90, of San Angelo, formerly of Odessa and El Paso, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo with Larry Shotwell and Kyle Reese of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
Lou Dell was born Nov. 30, 1911, in Alvord to Otho and Ethel Green. She graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood with an elementary education degree. She taught school in El Paso and Odessa, retiring after 28 years of teaching.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William D. “Bill” Pitts Sr., after 52 years of marriage. She lived at the Baptist Memorial Highrise for nine years and volunteered with the auxiliary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William C. Green of Lakeland, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ruth and Charles H. “Chuck” Ross of San Angelo; and a son, William D. Pitts Jr. of Houston. She had five grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom were so very special to her.
She was a special mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all that knew her. The family has a special place in our hearts for Sue Wallace, Baptist Memorial nurse and friend, and Dr. C. Dusty Anderton, who cared for her for many years.

Gladys A. Brownlee
ODESSA — Gladys A. Brownlee, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Jan. 23, 1918 to Henry Jay and Sallie Golightly in Erath County near Dublin, Texas.
Mrs. Brownlee graduated from Dublin High School and married Clyde Leslie Brownlee in 1935.They lived in DeLeon, Seagraves, Pampa and Colorado City before settling in Odessa in 1949. She was an award-winning saleswoman for a cosmetic company and when she met people, she made lifelong friendships. She went to work in the Ector County Clerk’s office in 1959, then moved to the Purchasing Department before retiring from the office staff of the county library in 1983, giving 24 years of service to Ector County.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday school class for 52 years. She was a devout Bible student, and participated in Bible studies of various denominations in Odessa.
Mrs. Brownlee was an excellent cook, accomplished seamstress, and has been described by her grandchildren as a very giving, beautiful, kind, loving, faithful Christian woman who focused her life on her family and her faith. She will be remembered by everyone for her beautiful smile and gentle nature.
Mrs. Brownlee was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, one grandson, Glen M. Fink, and her beloved husband, Clyde, who died in 1985. She joined Clyde, the love of her life, on Valentine’s Day.
She is survived by her daughters Georgene Miller and husband, Bob of Odessa, Kay Peek and Husband, Buster of San Angelo, and son, Les Brownlee of Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren, Joel Fink Jr., and wife, Laura, of Midland, Tracy Carney and husband, Clay, of Falls Church, Va., John Brownlee and wife, Lee Ann, of Roanoke, Va., Sloan Springer and husband, Thance, of Coahoma, Sarah Peek of San Angelo; great grandchildren, Ryan, Kelsey, and Reagan Fink, Vana and Vail Springer, Kyla Carney and Thompson Ann Brownlee.
Mrs. Brownlee’s son, Les, was recently appointed by President George W. Bush, as Under Secretary of the Army. Her grandson, John Brownlee, was appointed by President Bush as the United States Attorney of the Western District of Virginia.
Viewing will be held at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. The burial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Steve Trout officiating. A memorial service will then be held at First United Methodist Church of Odessa at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends in the church parlor immediately following the memorial service. Bertha Brasfield
LLANO — Bertha Lola Monday Brasfield, 105, of Llano, a homemaker, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in Llano.
No services are scheduled. Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home.
She was born in Beaumont.
SURVIVORS: Granddaughters, Mary Kirlin of Georgetown and Syb Henson of Sunrise Beach; grandsons, Mike Holt of La Grange and Otis Brasfield Jr. of Odessa; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Carmen Corralez
MIDLAND — Carmen Martinez Corralez, 71, of Midland, former co-owner of Parker’s Liquor Store, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Arturo Pestin officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Reyes-Garcia Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Reyes-Garcia Funeral Home.
She was born in Big Spring. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Rufino M. Corralez Jr., Moses M. Corralez and Jimmy M. Corralez, all of Midland; daughters, Dora L. Lopez and Sulema Garza, both of Midland, and Clara Orosco of Odessa; brothers, Pat Martinez of Big Spring and Gilbert Martinez of Odessa; and 15 grandchildren.

Troy Gerbitz
MIDLAND — Troy L. Gerbitz, 81, of Midland, a retired employee of El Paso Natural Gas Co., died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Rhoton officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fairlawn cemetery in Elk City, Okla. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
He was born in Elk City. He was an Army veteran.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Dorothy Gerbitz of Midland; daughters, Helen Glaab of Midland and Rosemary Ziegler of Valencia, Calif.; brother, Wendell Gerbitz of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

James Kincheloe
STAR — James Nolan Kincheloe, 74, of Comanche, a retired auto mechanic, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Comanche Community Hospital in Comanche.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hurst Ranch cemetery with Jerry Shields officiating. Arrangements by Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home.
He was born in Mills County and had been a resident of Abilene. He was an Army veteran. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Sons, James Lee Kincheloe of Bedford, Tim Kincheloe of Georgetown and Mike Kincheloe of Odessa; daughters, Lisa Humphries and Pam Wells, both of Odessa; brothers, Grover Kincheloe of Star, Ace Kincheloe of Llano, Roland Kincheloe of Benbrook, Bill Kincheloe of Comanche, Ray Kincheloe of Colorado City and Dean Kincheloe of Goldthwaite; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Beula Moore
ALPINE — Beula Lee Moore, 87, of Alpine, a homemaker, died Monday, April 15, 2002, in Alpine.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church. Burial will be at Elm Grove cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
She was born in Birome and was a resident of Alpine since 1950.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Betty Jo Willyard of Lovington, N.M., Juda McCollum of Alpine, Lou Moore of Austin, Prudella McMillan of Alpine and Elaine Bell of Fort Davis; and son, John Heidel of Lamesa.

Clara Sample
PECOS — Clara Frances Zachry Sample, 98, of Pecos, a retired teacher, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at her residence.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. today at St. Catherine Catholic Church with the Rev. Ben Flores officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Mount Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in Jefferson. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Mary Margaret Sample Scoot of Pecos; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jimmie Stoglin
BIG SPRING — Jimmie L. Stoglin, 75, of Odessa died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in Big Spring.
Services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

Rita Cadena
ODESSA - Rita Madrid Cadena, 68, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Burial was at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
She was born in Presidio. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Emiterio Cadena, Oscar Cadena, Abel Cadena, Tony Cadena and Ricky Cadena, all of Odessa; daughter, Amelia Cadena of Odessa; father, Antonio Madrid of Odessa; brothers, Jesus Madrid, Albert Madrid and Basillio Madrid, all of Odessa; sister, Manuela Valdez of Odessa; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Esperanza De La O
ALPINE - Esperanza De La O, 72, of Alpine, a homemaker, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at a local hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at Holy Angels cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
She was born in Alpine. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Olga De La O and Melba Cobos, both of Alpine; sons, Henry De La O Jr. of Boston, Danny De La O of Laredo, Glenn De La O, Hector De La O and Ricky De La O, all of Alpine; sisters, Viola Hernandez of Fresno, Calif., Corina Milan of Crystal City and Alicia Brito of Alpine; brothers, Jose Flores and Henry Flores, both of Alpine; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

FORT STOCKTON - Ridley L. Lannom, 92, of Weatherford, Okla., retired owner and operator of a service station, died Friday, June 7, 2002, in Weatherford.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Trey Atkins and Nathan McBride officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in Azle and had been a resident of Fort Stockton since 1912 before moving to Weatherford in 2000. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Frances Lannom of Weatherford; daughter, Yvonne Atkins of Weatherford; brother, B.C. “Burney” Lannom of Fort Davis; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
