MIDLAND - Pablo G. Mora, 69, of Midland, a roofer and sheet metal man, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerome Burnett officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Reyes-Garcia Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Reyes-Garcia Funeral Home.
He was born in Wink and moved to Midland in 1950.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Delfina Mora of Midland; sons, Pablo Mora Jr., Mike Mora and Johnny Ray Balderas, all of Midland; daughters, Maria Mora, Yolanda Mora Renteria, Delma Mora Castillo, Anita Mora Hidrogo and Esmeralda Melendez Pearson, all of Midland, and Rosa Mora Arras of Odessa; 24 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Ester Morales
REDFORD - Ester Carrasco Morales, 88, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at San Jose Catholic Church with the Rev. Lazaro Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow at the Redford cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
She was born in Redford. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Ricardo Morales of El Paso and Albert C. Morales of Odessa; sister, Cecilia Escobar of El Paso; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Harold Pipkin
MONAHANS - Harold Kenneth Pipkin, 72, of Monahans, a self-employed oilfield steam cleaner, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Monahans Memorial cemetery with Larry Bryer officiating. Arrangements by Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
He was born in Lepanto, Ark.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Alice Pipkin of Monahans; sons, Tony Pipkin of Monahans, Louie Pipkin of Palmer and Keith Pipkin of Arlington; daughters, Nancy Cowles and Sheila Pipkin, both of Monahans, and Mary Ellen Barfield of Lewisville; brothers, Leroy Pipkin of Monahans and James Pipkin of Burton, Mich.; sister, Viola Curtis of Sioxton, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

MINERAL WELLS - Helen Electra Price, 82, of Mineral Wells, a homemaker, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at a Mineral Wells nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with the Rev. John Tunnell and Bobby Williams officiating. Burial will be at East Side Lingleville cemetery in Lingleville. Arrangements by Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home.
She was born in Boyce City, Okla., and was a resident of Mineral Wells since 1985. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, E.M. Price of Mineral Wells; daughter, Diana Tharp of Oklahoma City; son, Dennis Kayle of Wichita, Kan.; stepsons, Ronald Price and Gerry Price, both of Odessa; stepdaughter, Mona McBride of Odessa; and seven grandchildren.

V.L. Sparks
DENVER CITY - V.L. 'Sparky' Sparks, 79, of Denver City, a retired foreman for ARCO, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darren Skinner and Shane Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at the Denver City Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ratliff Funeral Home.
He was born in Hope, Ark., and was a resident of Denver City since 1953. He was an Army veteran. He was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Jean Sparks of Denver City; son, Mike Sparks of Odessa; daughter, Stephanie Mowat of McAlester, Okla.; brothers, R.C. Sparks of Denver City and L.W. Sparks of Hobbs, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Gwendolyn Watson
MIDLAND - Gwendolyn L. Watson, 96, Odessa, a homemaker, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Lois Owen Retirement Center.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park with Dick Brown officiating. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
She was born in Westminster and moved to Midland in 1953. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Son, A.K. 'Bud' Watson of Midland; daughter, Kathy Brush of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Onean Harris
MIDLAND - Onean Harris, 64, of Odessa died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland.

ODESSA - Leslie Johnson, 61, of Odessa died Monday, June 10, 2002, at the Hospice House.

Evelyn Carrell
KERMIT — Evelyn Carrell, 67, of Kermit, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Belvue Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Campbell and Emmett Upchurch officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
She was born in McKinney and was a resident of Kermit for 34 years. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Ernest Carrell of Kermit; sons, Don Carrell of Jal, N.M., and Joe Carrell of Wimberley; brothers, Edgar Foster of Eunice, N.M., and Leonard Foster of Carlsbad, N.M.; sisters, Mary Essary of Clovis, N.M., and Mildred Morris of Hagerman, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

CRANE — Consuelo Gutierrez Molina, 88, of Crane, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Desert View Manor in Crane.

She was born in Balmorhea and was a resident of Crane for 34 years. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Mary Rodriquez of Odessa, Juanita Aguilar and Josie Moreno, both of Crane; brothers, Raymond Gutierrez of Holland, Mich., and Pole Gutierrez of Crane; sisters, Trine Almandarez of Fort Stockton, Mickey Ortiz and Manuela Sanchez, both of Crane; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

FORT STOCKTON — Elena Atayde Rubio, 79, of Fort Stockton, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital in Fort Stockton.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Burial will be at Fort Stockton Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
She was born in Boquillas, Mexico.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Jose Rubio of Fort Stockton; son, Jose Juan Rubio of Fort Stockton; daughter, Estela Ibarra of Fort Stockton; brothers, Silvero Atayde, Simon Atayde, Valente Atayde, Julio Atayde and Lucio Atayde, all of Mexico; sisters, Flora Atayde of Presidio, Pascuala Atayde of Batesville and Luciana Atayde of Mexico; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

ODESSA — Evodia L. Zamora, 62, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Ojinaga, Mexico, and was a resident of Odessa since 1996. She was Apostolic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Magdaleno Zamora of Durango, Mexico; sons, Felix Gaytan, Anselmo Gaytan and Paz Gaytan, all of Eunice, N.M.; brothers, Rufino Lujan and Contastino Lujan, both of Ojinaga; sisters, Raquel Zuniga of Dallas, Eduvijes Mendoza of Watsonville, Calif., Natividad Ortega, Oliveria Lujan and Ramona Ramirez, all of Ojinaga, and Petra Pena of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pete Black
MIDLAND — Pete Black passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in Knox County Hospital in Knox City.
He was born Aug. 26, 1919, in Palestine, Texas, to James and Ellen Black and was raised and educated there. Pete served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and in 1947 he married Aline Sherrard in Jacksonville. Prior to his retirement Pete was employed by Borden’s Milk for 21 years. He was a member of Ranchland Heights Baptist Church and the Bee Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Aline Black; three sisters; and a brother.
Pete was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Pete is survived by his son, Ronnie Black and his wife Pam of Snyder; grandchildren, Jeffery Black and his wife Laura of Odessa, Michael Black of Lubbock and Michelle Wood and her husband Donny of Snyder; and five great-grandchildren, Randy and Rachel Black of Odessa, Cerise Black of Brownwood and Lane and Leah Wood of Snyder.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Kepple officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Richard Oland Davis
ODESSA — Richard Davis lost his battle to cancer but won the war over pain on Wednesday, July 31, 2002. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, with Masonic grave services at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
Richard O. Davis was born to Susie Mae Whitson and Robert Oland Davis on Sept. 27, 1929, at the “Old Hotel” in Bedias, Grimes County. He and his family lived there for a few years and moved to Milford and then to Midland County.
He attended school in Milford, Ellis County, and Midland, Midland County. He enlisted in the United States Navy on Dec. 29, 1951. He served with honor and with great pride and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Good Conduct Medal and China Seas Medal. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 8, 1955.
Richard met Frances Lorean Bullard and they married one month and four days later on June 29, 1957, in Midland, Midland County. They moved to Odessa in April 1963 from Midland.
Richard was raised to a Master Mason, in Midland Lodge No. 623, on June 16, 1960. He was constituted a Knight Templar in Midland Commander No. 84 on May 23, 1961, and was initiated into the Suez Shrine at the 1961 Fall Ceremonial in Sweetwater. He took his Scottish Rite Work in the 1976 Fall Ceremony in El Paso.
Richard was raised in a one-parent home and many people helped him as he was growing up by instilling in him the value of hard work and the values he has lived by. He was always trying to help people that needed help. Richard has been a newspaper boy, a farmer, wheat harvester and a butcher for Triangle Food Store in Midland. After his four years in the Navy, he bought and ran a laundry route for Snowhite Laundry and Cleaners, owner of Triangle Radiator Service, all of Midland. He owned Odessa Wrecker and Storage, West Texas Carpets, leased his trucks to John B. Barbour Trucking Co. He then started importing forklifts from Japan under the name of Richard Davis Trucks, Inc. He held an auction and started buying commercial real estate. Richard could look at an old piece of equipment or a piece of land and see what needed to be done to make them a workable piece of equipment or land or building that anyone would be proud to own.
He was preceded in death by one of his twin daughters, Shirley Othell Davis; his mother, Susie Mae Whitson Davis of Midland; and his mother and father-in-law, Ida True Simmons and Elton W. Graham of Grandfalls, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Frances B. Davis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula R. Morris and Randall K. “Randy” Morris of Odessa and Sharron A. Seeker and Jim Richard “Rick” Seeker of McKinney; his sister, Lona Sue Davis and Othel Ike Fitzgerald and their son of Midland; brother-in-law, Claudie B. Bullard of North Richland Hills and his two children of Fort Worth; aunt, Eula Faye “Muttie” Furman of Midland; uncle, Jess P. Whitson of Abilene; grandchildren, Lexie A. Vickers, Zachery S. Vickers of Odessa, Macie M. Seeker and R. Brodie Seeker of McKinney, Chad and wife Jesma Morris, John D. Morris, Kaylee A. Morris and John R. Seeker. He has many cousins and friends and a few enemies.
Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Bennett, Ray Caldwell, Thomas Kemp, Jarrett Glass, Blake Martin and Keith Kirkland.
Longtime respected friends will serve as honorary pallbearers, John Casselman, Troy Chaffin, Loyd Delcore, A.M. “Slim” Gabrel, Kenneth Hines, Tommy Kemp and Earl Kyzer.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 1, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
We, the family, would like to thank Dr. Jerry Sims of McKinney for being Richard’s primary physician for the past several years. Also, Dr. Dan Hendrickson of Home Hospice and all of the staff with Home Hospice for the tender loving care shown to Richard and our family. Each and every one of these people deserves stars in their crowns for all of their love, compassion and tenderness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be make to Hospice House, 903 North Sam Houston, Odessa, Texas.
