Leston H. Tanner
CRANE — Leston H. Tanner, 82, of Crane, a retired well tester, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Crane. Burial will follow in the Crane County cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
He was born in Coushatta, La. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Margaret L. Tanner of Crane; son, Wayne Tanner of Odessa; daughter, Brenda Gallaway of College Station; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

David Warren Woods
PECOS — David Warren Woods, 44, of Pecos, a correctional officer, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Pecos with the Rev. Bruce Abbott officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
He was born in Pecos.
SURVIVORS: Parents, Don and Gloria Woods of Pecos; grandmother, Lillian Peak of Girard; brother, Clay Woods of Abilene; and sister, Becky Wein of Pecos.

Pearline R. Elrod
ODESSA — Pearline R. Elrod, 69, of Odessa died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in Odessa.
Services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home.

Marjorie Cannon
HOUSTON — Marjorie Cannon, 91, entered eternal life Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Cypress Fairbanks Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are being entrusted to Klein Funeral Home in Houston and Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Odessa. Visitation in Houston will be today, Oct. 2 from 10 to 11 a.m. at John Wesley United Methodist Church followed by funeral services with Dr. Keith Jenkins officiating. In Odessa, visitation will be Friday, Oct. 4 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Gardens followed by funeral services and burial with the Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating.
Marjorie was born to Ollie and Andrew Mershon on Jan. 22, 1911, in Sasakwa, Okla. She married V.L. Cannon Fr. on Aug. 22, 1930, in Amarillo, Texas. In 1945, she moved to Odessa where she lived for 57 years. Marjorie was a devoted mother and wife who took an active interest in the activities of her family. She enjoyed writing poems to celebrate special occasions and just for fun. Her family is blessed with this rich legacy of her love, concern and humor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Fidelis Class for over 52 years and served as a docent at the Presidential Library. In May of this year, she relocated to Houston and enthusiastically accepted the challenges of a new home and lifestyle.
Marjorie was preceded in death by brothers, Samuel and Laverne; grandson, Brett; and her husband of 64 years, V.L.
She is survived by sons, Jerry and wife Molly of Granbury, Larry and wife Suzy of Wimberley and David and wife Dianna; daughter, Diane Myers and husband John; and nephew, Jackson Mershon and wife Loreen, all of Houston. Marjorie was affectionately known as “Granny” to her 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Cannon, Wick Cannon, Andrew Cannon, James Atkins, John Myers, Kyle Smith and Russell Livingston.
Marjorie is loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

Louis E. ‘Mac’ McLeaish
ODESSA — Louis E. “Mac” McLeaish, 81, of Crane passed away Monday, Sept. 30 at the Desert View Manor in Crane.
He was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Boulder, Co. Mr. McLeaish had served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He worked as a lease operator for Gulf Oil and Chevron. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed painting and loved his family and spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Beulah Wolfe McLeaish in 1995.
He is survived by his son, Michael McLeaish and wife K.T. of Odessa; brother, Donald McLeaish of Duncanville; sister, Julie Fazio of Beaumont; two grandchildren, Sean McLeaish of Odessa and Rebecca Oimoen and husband Mark of Marshall, Wis.; and two great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Mariel Oimoen of Marshall, Wis.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 2, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Father Francis Frey officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Ector County Library.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Domingo Ortega Piña Jr.
ODESSA — Domingo Ortega Piña, Jr. 75, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born February 13, 1927, in Fort Stockton. He married Dominga B. Villalba in 1947 in Fort Stockton. He was a retired truck driver and Catholic.
He is survived by his wife, Dominga V. Piña of Odessa; son, Noe V. Piña of Odessa; daughters, Bertha V. Piña and Maria Dolores Piña, both of San Angelo, Elodia Hernandez, Natalie Reschman and Josie Bayless, all of Odessa, and Maria Alicia Murillo of Baytown; brothers, Jose Piña of Rankin and Ricardo Piña of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family is grateful to Dr. Larry Oliver and Dr. Felipe Porras for the care they extended to Domingo as well as to the many healthcare professionals at Medical Center Hospital, Permian Basin Dialysis Center and Infusion Home Health Center, who lovingly cared for him. Thanks also to the many family members and friends who have accompanied us over the years.
Domingo has resurrected to a new life with a new body in the dwelling place that Jesus has prepared for him in God, our Father’s, house.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 2, 2002 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Frank Chavez officiating, Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Gerald Crow
ODESSA - Gerald Edward Crow, 65, of Odessa, an employee of Lincoln Towers Retirement Center, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Deering Nursing Center.
Funeral services were held in private. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.
He was born in Odessa and was an Army veteran.
SURVIVORS: Father, Harlan Edward Crow of Kennedy.

Jerry Derrick
LUBBOCK - Jerry Derrick, 49, a machinist, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park with the Rev. Wayne R. Williams officiating. Arrangements by Sanders Funeral Home.
He was born in Lubbock.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Rosa Walker of Lubbock; father, Charles Derrick of Yuma, Ariz.; sisters, Charlene Daniel of New Braunfels, Linda Keith of Odessa, and Kay Roberson of Temple.

Lillie Graham
ODESSA - Lillie Mae Graham, 97, a former waitress, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Odessa Tabernacle with the Rev. Doug Herget officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. today at Fairmount cemetery in San Angelo. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Comanche County. She was a member of Odessa Tabernacle.
SURVIVORS: Sisters, Juanita Sumpter of Euless and Francis Chapin of Sweetwater; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A.F. Hammons
MONAHANS - A.F. 'Doc' Hammons, 92, a minister, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, in Monahans.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Bennett and Jeff Box officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
He was born in Leon, Okla.
SURVIVORS: Numerous nieces and nephews.

Cresencio Machuca
PECOS - Cresencio 'Chris' Machuca, 61, a correctional officer, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Ben Flores officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Peaceful Garden Funeral Home.
He was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Margarita Machuca of Pecos; sons, Israel Machuca, Gabriel Machuca and Joseph Paul Machuca all of Pecos, Joe Chris Machuca of Rochester, N.Y., and Edward Machuca of San Antonio; daughter, Christine Machuca of Odessa; brother, Felix Machuca of Pecos; sisters, Nicolasa Montoya and Dulces Martinez both of Pecos, and Manuela Martinez and Alicia Acosta both of Odessa; and five grandchildren.

James Moulder
ODESSA - James Floyd Moulder, 79, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in San Angelo and was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Jewel Saunders of Odessa; son, James Foy Moulder of Las Vegas, Nev.; and brother, A.G. Moulder of Lafayette, La.

T.J. Simpson
ANDREWS - T.J. Simpson, 80, a former city manager and insurance agency owner, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at the Andrews Church of Christ with Mark Wilson and Glenn Long officiating. Burial will be at Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Moran and moved to Andrews in 1956 from Morton. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Patty Boykin of Odessa; sisters, Hope Nicholson of San Antonio, Eunice Tull of Levelland, and Ineta Turrentine of Rogers, Ark.; and two grandchildren.

Loudine Turner
ANDREWS - Loudine Turner, 80, a former grocery store clerk, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Andrews Healthcare Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. D.A. Hanks officiating. Burial will follow at Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Wood County and moved to Andrews in 1956. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Willard H. 'George' Turner of Andrews; sons, Conrad Turner of Odessa, and Alan Turner of Plano; daughters, Dian Whittington of Mineola, and Phyllis Duncan of Frederick, Md.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
