Otto Albert "Obie" Grief

KERRVILLE, TEXAS - Otto Albert "Obie" Grief, our loving dad, granddad and great-granddad, died of natural causes at his residence, 220 Harper Road, on Thursday, July 29, 2004.

Born on July 13, 1914, Obie lived a full and rewarding life for 90 years. He attended high school in San Angelo and Schreiner University on a football scholarship. He married Joy Tippett on April 8, 1938, and enjoyed 58 years together before her death in 1996.

Obie worked in real estate in Corpus Christi in the forties, ranched in Stephenville and Kerrville in the fifties and sixties, and owned motels in Vernon, Odessa and Kerrville in the seventies and eighties. He retired in 1988.

A gentle and loving man, Obie enjoyed being with family and friends. His keen wit kept a smile on everyone's face. One of his most enjoyable activities was the "feeds" he would host at his barn for his coffee pals. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and an ordained deacon.

Obie is survived by one daughter, Vicky Fisher and husband, Dale of Big Lake; two sons, Ross Grief and wife, Seal of Galveston and Gary Grief and wife, Lisa of Austin; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; and a very special sister-in-law, Maxine Short.
