Earnest Mary "Ms. Shag" Morris

GALVESTON - Earnest Mary "Ms. Shag" Morris, 79, of Galveston, Texas departed this earthly life on Thursday, July 29, 2004.

Mary was born on August 4, 1924, in Longview, Texas. She was a member of Carter Temple CME Church where she served in the Senior Choir and was a former president of the choir. She was an active member of the Stewardess Board until her health failed. Ms. Shag was a devoted wife, homemaker and beautician.

Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m., on Wednesday, August 4, 2004, followed by a wake from 7 - 8 p.m. at Wynn Funeral Home, 602-32nd Street, Galveston, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2004, at Carter Temple CME Church, 3901 Avenue I, Galveston, Texas, with the Reverend Illinois Francis, officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview cemetery, Galveston, Texas.

She was preceded in death her parents, Rosetta Portley McKinney and Henry McKinney, Sr., of Longview, Texas; her husband, Lucious (Mr. Dee) Morris; four brothers Booker T. McKinney, Henry McKinney, Jr., R.H. McKinney, and Harvey McKinney, Sr.; sister, Earnestine McKinney; and son-in-law, Robert Lee Smith. Survivors include seven children; four daughters Rose Morris of Galveston, Barbara Morris-Smith and Kathyleen Morris Ashton of Texas City, Glenda Faye Morris Holmes (Bill) of Bacliff; three sons Robert and Tony Morris of Galveston and William (Esmerelda) Morris of Houston; nine grandchildren: Keoji, Skylar and Brett Morris, Napolean (Notrishia) Morris, Jarvis (Katherine) Ashton, Sherry Ashton, Christopher Smith, Latosha and Dana Holmes; six great grandchildren; two brothers: David McKinney of Dallas and Calvin Coolidge McKinney of Longview; aunt, Georgia Portley of Longview; brother-in-law, Clarence (Lorene) Morris of Longview; sisters-in-law: Dorothy McKinney of Old Ocean, Eva Venters of Dallas, Annie Mae Brown of Hitchcock, Catherine Hutchins of San Francisco, Ruby Hill of Menlo Park, California, and Francis Wells of Fort Worth; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special thanks to her caregivers Mrs. Essie Womack, Elnora McNeil, Esther Deal and Nancy Motte all of Galveston and A-Med Hospice.

Mary Magdalene “Madge” Saenz

HITCHCOCK - Mrs. Mary Magdalene Saenz, known to family and friends as Madge passed from this life Saturday morning, July 31, 2004, in Galveston at the age of 87.

Born in Boyce, Louisiana March 9, 1917, to William Thomas and Ida Gertrude Jones, Madge attended school in Boyce and later moved to Baird, Texas, where she graduated from Baird High School in 1935 and married Raymond Joseph Saenz in 1937. She came to Galveston to train as a nurse but instead went to work at Union Station as a Fred Harvey Girl until it closed in May of 1938 and then the Central Drug and Star Drug stores for over 30 years. She continued to live in Galveston until her recent move to Hitchcock. Mrs. Saenz was a member of First Methodist Church, which was eventually moved and renamed Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Agape Sunday School class, Pioneer Club and the Ruth Circle. Mrs. Saenz was very active member of Galveston and La Marque Chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Grand Matron and also held two Grand Committee appointments through the years. She also was a member of the Galveston York Rite Assembly for Rainbow Girls and was awarded the Grand Cross of Colors and was past president of the Galveston Social Order of Beauceant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Joseph Saenz; parents, William Thomas and Ida Gertrude Jones; sisters, Willie Mae Walker and Erbie Cagle.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond C. and Kathy Allen-Saenz of Hitchcock; sisters, Myrtle Higgins of Eastland, Pauline M. Benavidez of Santa Fe, Eleanor Gober and husband, Richard of Clearwater Florida; grandchildren, Ray Don Saenz and wife, Theresa, Debra Andreason, Lori Allen-Mai and husband, John; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m.,Tuesday, August 3, 2004, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Pinard officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster.

Casketbearers will be Bill Groce, Kenneth Groce, V. N. McEachern, V. N. McEachern, III, Richard Rehwald and Ray Don Saenz.

Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to Shriners Burn Institute, 815 Market Street Galveston, Texas 77550-9969.

Ponciano R. Sauceda

Ponciano R. Sauceda, 90, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2004, at his residence in Hitchcock, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2004, in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home in Galveston, with Mr. Christian Marquez and Ms. Delores Fuentes of the Assembly of God Church, Texas City, officiating. Burial will follow services Tuesday at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster, Texas. A Wake service will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2004, also in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home. Mr. Sauceda’s family will be receiving friends for visitation at the funeral home Monday evening after 5 p.m.

Mr. Sauceda was born October 21, 1913, in San Benito, Texas. A hard working individual and roofing contractor by trade, Mr. Sauceda owned and operated his own business for many years. He was a loving husband and father whose family values and virtues instilled in his children and their children will most certainly live on in his memory. He will be sadly missed.

Mr. Sauceda is preceded in death by one of his sons, Rufino Sauceda; his parents, Rufino and Tomasita Sauceda; sisters, Lupita, Clara, and Alvina; and also his brothers, Juan and Pablo. He leaves behind loving memories with his wife, Maria V. Sauceda of Hitchcock; and his children, David Sauceda, Sr. and wife, Virginia of Hitchcock, Lorenza Fields and husband, Dean of Dallas, Yolanda Jaramillo and husband, Francisco of Texas City, Daniel Sauceda of Alvin and Dario Sauceda and wife, Augustine of Hitchcock. Sharing in his loss, also, are Mr. Sauceda’s 20 very loving grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, a host of other loving family and friends, most especially, Netty Garza.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Sauceda’s grandsons, David Sauceda, Jr., Frank Jaramillo, Jr., Albert Sauceda, Chris Garza, Daniel Sauceda, Jr. and Jeremiah Sauceda. Honorary Pallbearers will also be grandsons, Robert Gabriel Garza, Moses Jaramillo, Ponciano Sauceda, Zekeo Jaramillo, Amos Jaramillo and Jaime Sauceda.

Dorothy Mae Fulton

GALVESTON — Dorothy Mae Fulton went into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at UTMB John Sealy Hospital, after a lengthy illness. She was born December 30, 1938, in Galveston to James and Ella Clark Lewis. She attended both Galveston and Houston public schools. She worked as a nurses' assistant for many years and retired from Gaidos' laundry service after 33 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph Fulton, Sr.; two sisters, Virginia and Mary Louise Lewis; three brothers, Carl, Sammy Lee, and David Lewis; great granddaughter, Ja'Nesha Harris.

Left to cherish of her life are devoted friend, Bobby Alexander; six daughters, Deborah Fulton (Clarence Tillman), Jo Ann Fulton (Stacey Swann) of Galveston, Wilma Fulton and Sandra Jackson (Deon Harris) of Jacksonville, Florida, Mary Porter (devoted friend Nelson McCoy IV) of La Marque and Evelyn Smith (Jeffery) of Texas City; sons, Joseph Fulton, Jr. (Laretha) and Robert Fulton (Sha-Ron) both of Galveston; sisters, Barbara Wallace (Charles), Ruth Kelly, Thelma Lee (Abe) and Shirley Sherman (Theodore); brother, James Lewis; uncle, Peter Clark (Effie) all of Houston; seventeen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; devoted nephews, Paul, Charles, Jr. and Trammel Wallace, Richard Greene and Anthony Dearmon; mother-in-law, Martha Fulton, sons in law, Joey Porter and Clyde Jackson; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2004, followed by a wake from 7 to 9 p.m. at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at 1 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Walter Jones, officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview cemetery.

The family would like to thank the A-Med Hospice team (Donnica) and staff of UTMB Hospital.

Daisy E. Dunten

SANTA FE - Daisy E. Dunten, 85, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Ashton Parke Care Center in Texas City, Texas. Mrs. Dunten was born on June 16, 1919, in Galveston, Texas, to Fred G. and Harriet Butler. She was a resident of Santa Fe, Texas and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She spent her childhood in Galveston and moved to La Marque in 1937 where she married and raised her family. She enjoyed cooking and playing softball and other outdoor sports with the family. She and her husband later retired to Santa Fe where they enjoyed making and selling wooden toys at craft shows. Above all, she enjoyed her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her special granddaughter, Kristy Moreno.

Mrs. Dunten is survived by her husband, Wilbur Dunten of Santa Fe, Texas; two daughters, Sharon K. Templin and her husband Dennis of Pearland, Texas and Judy King and her husband James of Brownwood, Texas; her son, Wilbur H. "Pete" Dunten and his wife Marlane of League City, Texas; her sister, Helen Bailey of La Marque, Texas; sister-in-law, Alice Delesandri of Santa Fe, Texas; brother-in-law, Joseph Dunten and his wife Norma of La Marque, Texas and brother-in-law John McMaster and his wife Bobbie of Bentonville, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, John H. Dunten, Amber R. Dunten, Paul Fragua, Forrest Fragua, Ashley Templin, Kristine Garbo, Lynda Clark, Jeffery Nativi and Kirk Nativi; and eleven great-grandchildren, Bethany Dunten, Gregory Dunten, Krista Fragua, Scout Fragua, Kameron Clark, Connor Clark, Landon Clark, Courtney Garbo, Sam Garbo, Joseph Nativi and Tristan Deanda.

Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, August 1, 2004, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas. Funeral service will be Monday, August 2, 2004, at 9 a.m., at the funeral home, with Father John Kappe officiating. Internment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Garbo, Kevin Clark, John Dunten, Carl Schaeper, Paul Fragua and Forrest Fragua.

Joseph (Tony) Rodolphe Theriault

Joseph (Tony) Rodolphe Theriault, our loving husband and father, passed away July 29, 2004, 71, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Tony was born on May 11, 1933, in Nashua, New Hampshire. He began his career proudly serving as a Marine in the Korean War and then re-enlisted in the Air Force for eight years completing a 20 year service in the Reserves.

He was employed with Lockheed, at NASA, for 30 years as an electronic technician working on the Apollo, Gemini and Columbia space flights. Tony was known to love a thrill; his hobbies included flying, sky diving, scuba diving and motorcycle riding.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Ella Lois Theriault; daughter Lori Ann Theriault Cazares and husband Guillermo; son Brett Theriault; and grandchildren Destinee and Stephen.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 31, 2004, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jack Rowe Funeral Home in League City. The funeral service will be Sunday, August 1, 2004, at 2 p.m.

For those who desire, memorial contributions can be made to Christus St. Joseph Hospice, 1404 St. Joseph Parkway, Houston, TX 77002.

Tony will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
