Glen G. Timmons

Glen G. Timmons, 73, of Gatesville, died Thursday, April 8, 2010 at his residence. Graveside services were held Monday, April 12, at Restland cemetery with Rev. Robert Cavanaugh officiating. Glen Gale Timmons was born on Feb. 1, 1937 in Levita, Coryell County, to the late Bailey and Odell Dyson Timmons.

He started working at the local telephone company and retired from Sprint Telephone Company after 25 years of service. Glen enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting Native American artifacts, and anything mechanical, especially restoring antique cars. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Glen is survived by three children, Ginger Dossman of Gatesville, Alan D. Timmons of Hamilton, and Wendy Suggs of Jonesboro; two sisters, Jean Woodard of Lorena and Jenice Stephan of Copperas Cove; and seven grandchildren, Dustin, Nathaniel, Amanda, Chelsea, Patrick, Mackenzie and Raven.

Frances (Fran) McDowell

Frances Louise (Fran) McDowell, 85, of Valley Mills, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010. Funeral services were held Friday, April 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Valley Mills. Interment icon was at the Valley Mills cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home.

Fran was born in Harlingen, on March 23, 1925. She grew up there, later moving to Houston where she met and fell in love with E. B. (Mac) McDowell. They were married on January 6, 1945, in Florida before his World War II deployment. They had two daughters, Janey and Lee Ann. They moved to Valley Mills in 1957 where they have since resided.

Granny, as she was lovingly known, loved her family dearly. She adored her grandchildren, never missing an event they were a part of, always cheering them on. She loved doing what she could to help everyone, nothing was ever too much to ask. She was a very loving and giving person who was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clive and Bertha Turner; one brother, Clive D. Turner; one sister, Myldred Martin; her precious grandson Jordan Lee Sears; and son-in-law Roger Kaiser.

Left to treasure her memory are her devoted husband of 65 years, Mac; two daughters, Janey Kaiser and Lee Ann Land; a sister, Helyn Guerry; grandchildren, David Hinton and wife, Michelle; Jennifer Warner and husband, Matt; Josh Sears; Jared Sears and wife, Stephanie; grand-daughter-in-law, Lacey Sears; five great grandchildren, Sheyanne, Carter, Mason, Cross, and Sloane. She is also survived by two step-granddaughters, Terri Kucera and Lorri Kaiser Dyer and husband, Jon; and three step-greatgrandchildren, Megan, Blake, and Paige.

Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton, the First United Methodist Church in Valley Mills or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Marianne Cecilia Noga Allison

Marianne Cecilia Noga Allison, 86, passed away on March 4, 2010, at her residence at the Sunset Home in Clifton. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Tyler.

Maria Anna Noga was born on June 16, 1923, in Bardiov Kupele Czechoslovakia the daughter of Jacob and Mary Jureckova Noga.

She attended Straubenmuller Textile High School in New York City and took two years of post-graduate work in business administration. She grew up in Bayside, N.Y. She married Duane Allison on Feb. 25, 1970, in Bermuda. She had lived in Newport Beach and San Mateo, Calif.; Palesine and Clifton.

She had been the executive secretary to the vice-president of international sales for the Johns-Manville of New York/San Mateo.

During the last few years in Clifton, she enjoyed going to Brookshires every Friday with the Rainbow Village Group and she had several favorite check-out girls and appreciated “Bob” at the pharmacy for his thoughtfulness.

Her hobbies included growing beautiful flowers, golf, bingo, horse racing, shopping, traveling, and gourmet food. She loved getting dressed up for parties, California, and the beach. She was unique and eccentric in taste and style and loved watching the Breeders Cup and other sporting events. Those who knew her loved her just the way she was, said a family member.

Along with the staff and residents at Goodall-Witcher Hospital and Lutheran Sunset Ministries and Rainbow Village, the family wishes to thank Marion Mount for leading Marianne Allison to the Lord – the best gift ever.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Allison; brother, George S. Noga; and sister, Helen Noga Connelly.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Pat Noga Breedlove of Tyler; niece, Sherry Noga Crigger and husband, Roy, and daughter Stephanie, of Hewitt; niece, Patrice Noga Bowles and husband, Mark, and children, Zachary and Brittany Bowles of Corinth; great-nephew Matthew Bowles and wife, Lindy, of Denton; nephew, George Stephen Noga, Jr., and wife, Sonya, and children, George S. Noga III, Joseph Noga, and Nessica Noga of Dallas.

Ellen Mitchell
Ellen (Jiggs) Mitchell, 91, of the Patton Community, passed away Dec. 24, 2009, at her home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the Patton Baptist Church. Interment icon was in the Valley Mills cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home.
Ellen Willingham was born Aug. 31, 1918, in Gholson, Texas. She was the daughter of Harmon Otto and Georgia Bell (Slough) Willingham. She was married to Nathan Mitchell on Aug. 27, 1938, in Valley Mills.
She had helped him on the farm for over 65 years. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was a member of the Patton Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Norval, Sherman, and Leland Willingham; sisters, Elizabeth Jobe and Charlotte Pack.
Survivors include two sisters, Opal Jones of Valley Mills, and Sally (Withrow) McMillan of Gatesville; a brother, Harlan Willingham of Waco; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to either the American Heart Association or Cal Farley Boy’s Ranch.

Leonard Hollingsworth Jr.
Leonard Hollingsworth, Jr., age 34, of Valley Mills died Dec. 24, in an auto accident near Brownwood. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Interment icon will be in the Valley Mills cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 PM prior to the service at the church.
Hollingsworth was born April 18, 1975, in Waco. He was the son of Leonard and Evelyn (Lloyd) Hollingsworth Sr. He had moved to Valley Mills in 1986 and attended school there. He worked for In-line in Lufkin.
Survivors include his parents, Leonard and Evelyn Hollingsworth Sr.; three sons, Allen Hollingsworth, Gage Hollingsworth, and Eric Moore all of McGregor; grandmother, Lucille Melton of Waco; sister, Kitty Chrisman of Valley Mills; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Dolores Lippe Alexander
Funeral services for Dolores Lippe Alexander, 77, were held Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Valley Mills. Interment icon was at the Crawford cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home of Valley Mills.
Dolores Humphreys was born Jan. 28, 1932, near Crawford, the daughter of Dock and Mattie (Jackson) Humphreys. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband Milford Lippe of forty years and Al Alexander of seven years. Dolores loved her family and her Lord.
She is survived by a sister, Patricia Gauntt and huband, Jimmy; four children, Diane Gray, Debbie and husband, Rory Selman, Brad Lippe and wife, Sherry, and Bart Lippe and wife, Dana; nine grandchildren: Matthew, Melanie, Kimberly, Amanda, Colby, Jermey, Joshua, Barton, ands Serenity; and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Freddia (Freddie) Wilson
Freddia (Freddie) Wilson, age 76, of Waco, formerly of Valley Mills was called to glory to join her savior on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Parmer officiating.
Freddia DeArman was born April 29, 1933, in Lamesa. She was the daughter of John A. and Myrtle (Gandy) DeArman. She was very active in sports and graduated from Rising Star High School in 1951.
She married Troyce Dwain Wilson in Comanche, in 1951.
Freddia worked at Cox’s Department Store until they closed. She also worked for Goldstein’s and later Dunlap’s Department Store. She had developed a loyal customer following after almost 30 years of retail. She is an angel that will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, and a son, Robert Dwain Wilson, in 1975.
Survivors include her children, Steve Wilson of Waco, Johnny Wilson and wife, Hallie, of Valley Mills, Bonita Frazier and husband, Billy, of Arizona; a brother, Robert DeArman and wife, Pat, of Arizona; grandchildren, Holly, Lisa, Chad, Justin, Jason, Brandon, and Brittney; and great-grandchildren, Jared, Alex, Austin, Andrew, Ashlynn, Rilynn, Destyni, and Baleigh.
Memorials may be made to either the American Cancer Society, Providence Hospice, or Fuzzy Friends Rescue.
Foss Funeral Home of Valley Mills was in charge of arrangements.

Joe Bob Ficklin
Funeral services for Joe Bob Ficklin, 62, of Valley Mills/Cayote, were held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, with Pastor Laird Duran officiating. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran cemetery.
Ficklin was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Meridian, to Andrew Evans and Trula Corean Carlson Ficklin.
He became a child of God at his baptism in August 1947, at Moshiem Methodist Church. He was also confirmed there.
He grew up on the family farm at Moshiem and attended and graduated from Valley Mills ISD. He was active in football and the Future Farmers of America. He was also a member of the Valley Mills 4-H Club. He also attended Hill Jr. College on scholarship.
On May 27, 1967, he and Norma Ruth Willmann were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church. To this union three children were born: Arthur Andrew, Karen Annette, and Alinda Ruth. With the help of God they raised their family on their farm in the Cayote community. Ficklin joined Trinity Lutheran Church in 1982, and was a member until his death.
He worked for Lone Star Gas for 24½ years before going to work for Childress Creek Water Supply and CSS Construction. He enjoyed raising polled hereford cattle. He and his wife, Norma, served as secretary-treasurer of the Central Texas Polled Hereford Association for many years. He served on the board of directors of the Childress Creek Water Supply and helped get the system organized and going. He also served on Trinity’s Church Council and did various volunteer yard jobs while his health permitted.
He enjoyed being with his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and their stories, showing cattle, playing softball, hunting, and fire trucks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Anna Beth Rowe.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Valley Mills; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Carolyn Ficklin of Valley Mills; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Darren Hanson of Clifton, and Alinda and Thomas Cox of Jacksboro; grandchildren, Wade and Marti Hanson, and Ashley and Mason Cox; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Clinton Surley, Ken Slagle, Wade Hanson, Gary Parr, Sherry Horn, and Carl Willmann. Honorary pallbearers were Marti Hanson, Ashley Cox, and Mason Cox.
Memorials in loving memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery Association, Lutheran Sunset Ministries Hospice, Goodall-Witcher Hospital Foundation, or a charity of choice.
Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ninnah Leona Carpenter
Ninnah Leona Carpenter, 95, of Kerrville, died Sunday, Nov. 30, at a local hospital. She was born on April 8, 1914, in Valley Mills, Texas, the daughter of the late James Henry and Ninnah Geneva Thurmond.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Dec 5, 2009, at 2 p.m., in Clifton cemetery.
She was known by many in the area, especially her friends at Riverhills Health and Rehab as well as Plaza on the River. She also dearly loved her church family at First Christian Church in Kerrville. Ninnah was first and foremost a wife and mother. In addition, she worked outside the home as a sales associate for Neiman-Marcus, and executive secretary at the Midwest City, Oklahoma Vo-Tech High School. She also was a bookkeeper for Film ‘n Photos in San Antonio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Lawrence Carpenter of Humble, and a grandson, Larry Carpenter, of St. Louis, Mo.
She is survived by Jan McBride of Longview; Rev. Jim Carpenter of Kerrville; and Carole Floeck of San Antonio; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
