Mary Winston
Mary Winston, 79, died June 2, 2003, in Kingwood. She was born June 20, 1924.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, June 4, at 2 p.m., at Cleveland Memorial Park in Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl O. Winston, her daughter, Shari Winston, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, Howard McKissack and his wife, Vicki, of Fort Stockton; one sister Betty Jane Land; one brother, John McClelland; one brother-in-law, Gean Caldwell; three grandchildren, Dudley, Mickey, and Kaci; four great-grandchildren and two special nieces, Deborah and Theresa.

Dr. Lynne J.P. Taylor
Dr. Lynne J.P. Taylor, 80, lifelong resident of Harper, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at his residence.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 26, at the Noxville cemetery in Harper with Rev. Frankie Enloe officiating.
Dr. Taylor came from a long line of ranchers, and he loved the land. As a young boy and on his summer vacations from college, he especially liked to ride and work with horses.
He graduated from the Harper Schools and attended Southwest Texas State University, and did his Navy officer training at Harvard and MIT. He served in the US Navy Air Fleet Wing in WWII on or near the Aleutian Islands.
After his Navy service, he attended Tulane University Medical School. He was a doctor at the Kerrville VA Hospital for 30 years. He was a 50-year Mason and a member of the Texas Ranger's Association. He enjoyed working on computers, photography, art, music, and reading.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his older sister who raised him from when he was two years old, Nola Taylor Coffey Dyer, and his sister Edna B. Taylor Duderstadt.
He is survived by, a brother Rolan Taylor and his wife, Ruth, of Spring Valley, CA; nieces, Marilyn Dyer Lindig and her husband, Jerome, of Fredericksberg, Kathy Fritze and her husband, Vernon, of San Angelo, Delores Borchers and her husband, Carl, of Katy, Celia Jean Hawkins and her husband, Bob, of Duram, NC. Also by his nephews, Worth Duderstadt and his wife, Cherrie, of Kerrville, and Jim Creed Taylor of Spring Valley, CA.; Some special relatives, Tom Whetstone, Rolston Coffey, Bill Peril, Joyce Whetstone Brown, Mary Ann Hart, and Mary Whetstone Dodd.
Flowers are welcome; however, memorials may be made to the Harper EMS Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 306, Harper, TX 78631, or donor's favorite charity.

Edward Heimann, II
Edward Heimann, II, 80, died June 3, 2003, in a San Angelo hospital. He was born March 25, 1923, in Kerrville, and was a retired drilling consultant.
He is survived by his wife, Amy, of Junction; one son, James Heimann, of Victoria; one daughter, Jann Krause, of Boerne; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Aubrey Fife Funerals.

Ferne R. Searcy
Mrs. Ferne R. Searcy, 91, of Junction, passed away Monday, September 15, 2003, at Hill Country Care Center.
Mrs. Searcy was born in Kansas on May 17,1912. She graduated from high school in Perry, Florida, in 1929, then attended Westmoreland College. On November 6, 1938, Ferne married Albert Searcy in Corpus Christi, and they moved to Junction in 1943.
Mrs. Searcy taught voice and piano lessons and was the choir director at the First Presbyterian Church for many years.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, at Graham Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Barker, Rev. Laurie Barker and Rev. Charlie Dowell officiating. Burial followed in the Junction cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Albert Searcy of Houston; one daughter, Edith Wisehart of Midland; five grandchildren, Lance Searcy of the U.S. Navy, Kristen Searcy of Dallas, Molly Searcy of Houston, Kevin Wisehart of Seattle and Elizabeth Lilly of Lampasas; and one great-grandson, Alex Wisehart of Seattle.

Ruth Cottingham Terrell
Ruth Cottingham Terrell, 89, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2003, in the Hill Country Care Center. Memorial services were held Wednesday, February 5, at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Jim Baker with the assistance of Rev. Charles Dowell. A private burial under the direction of Graham Funeral Home was held at the Gentry Creek cemetery.
Mrs. Terrell was born July 13, 1913, in Galena, Illinois. When the family moved to Wisconsin, she attended and graduated from high school in that state. She attended college in Mt. Carrall, Illinois, and after graduation, Mrs. Terrell moved to Denver, Colorado, where she met and married Pete Ward Terrell on April 2, 1939. After 35 years in Denver, they moved to Junction. Mr. Terrell became an engineering consultant, and his work required traveling to many different countries - most of the time accompanied by his wife. Mr. Terrell died in 1987, and several years later Mrs. Terrell moved from their ranch into Junction.
She is survived by two sons, Pete Ward Terrell, II, and wife, Marie, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Alan C. Terrell and wife, Rebecca, of Temple. She has four grandchildren, Susan Vaupel and husband, Ron, of Wichita, Kansas, David W. Terrell and wife, Cathy, of Houston, Jeffrey S. Terrell and wife, Tina, of Chicago, Illinois, and Ian H. Terrell of Portland, Oregon, and two great-grandchildren, Ryan S. Terrell and Rachel M. Terrell.

Lorene D'Spain
Lorene D' Spain, 92, passed away Friday, January 31, at the Hill Country Care Center. Services were held February 3, 2003, at the First Baptist Church with burial at Saline cemetery.
Lorene was born October 24, 1910, in San Angelo, Texas. She married Leslie D'Spain January 13, 1934, in London. They resided in Menard and Kimble counties all of their married life. Her husband, Leslie, preceded her in death this past April.
She is survived by her three children, Ramona Smart, Shirley Gray, and Hubert D'Spain and wife, Sheila, all of Junction; eight grandchildren, Steve Smart of Brady, Stanley and Kenny Smart of Junction, Chet Murr of San Antonio, Travis Murr, Todd D'Spain and Darla Rooke of Junction and Toby D'Spain of Fredericksburg; eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Lorene was an avid gardener with a green thumb for as long as one can remember. She loved cooking and canning and never went without an apron around her waist. She loved family and they all enjoyed "Granny's" down-home cooking. Rene could also be found tending her chickens and other animals at the ranch and was always accustomed to hard work. Rene's work here on earth is now finished.
Pallbearers were all of Rene's grandsons and grandson-in-law Kenny Rooke.

Kelly Kearney
Kelly Kearney, 82, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2003, in Odessa.
He was born October 6, 1920, in Mitchell County to Lem and Ludy Kearney. Kelly married Billie Steele November 8, 1992, in Odessa. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1982 and 1994.
Mr. Kearney was a member of the Church of Christ, a WW II veteran serving in the U.S. Army and a rancher in Menard from 1969 through 1995. He has lived in Odessa for the past ten years.
Graveside services were held Monday, February 3, with Ed Houston officiating. Burial was in Palava cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Steele, of Odessa; one daughter, Kay Kearney Trimble, of Junction; a son, Kent Kearney of Sonora and one brother, L.C. Kearney, Jr., of Sundown. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Justin Trimble of Junction, and Kasey and Kelly Kearney of Sonora and three step-daughters, Betty, Norma and Carol. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive him.

Gwen Lewis
Memorial services for Mrs. Gwen Lewis, age 80, of Kerrville, who died January 29, 2003, in a Kerrville hospital were held at 2 p.m, Friday, January 31, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Warren Hornung officiating. Burial was held privately.
Mrs. Lewis was born March 17, 1922, in Fredericksburg, to John and Abigail Brummett, and was married to Damon C. Lewis on June 29, 1940, in Menard. Mrs. Lewis was been a longtime resident of Junction. She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her husband, Damon Lewis, of Kerrville; one son, Rod Lewis, of Wesley, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Deanna Powers, Tracy Lewis, Kristi Giles, Nicki Carlson and Mitchel Lewis; a sister, Tenney Watson of Fredericksburg; one brother, James Brummett of Huntsville; three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Dechert in 1990, and a sister, Johnnie Stewart, in 1992.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice or Alzheimer Association Support Group, P.O. Box 284, Kerrville, Texas. 78028.
Overby Funeral Home of Kerrville was in charge of arrangements.

Lola Pettigrew Morehouse
Lola Pettigrew Morehouse went home peacefully to be with our Lord on May 19, 2003.
Visitation will be held at Aubrey Fife Funeral Home Wednesday, May 21, from 6-8 p.m. with morning services at 10 a.m., May 22, at Hill Country Baptist Church. Interment icon will follow in Junction cemetery.
Lola was an active member of the Hill Country Baptist Church. She was born June 29, 1926, the second of twin girls to Elmer and Fannie Pettigrew in London.
She attended school in London before moving to Junction to finish in 1943. Lola was employed by Royal Sun Alliance in San Francisco, California, where she met and married Milton Morehouse in December, 1953. Milt preceded her in death in 1964. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Viola Walker and one brother, Henry Pettigrew.
She is survived by three sisters, twin Lila Lloyd and Faye Haines, both of Junction and Dorothy Pudinski of Sacramento, California; one brother, Lee Pettigrew of Desdemona and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are under the direction of Aubrey Fife Funeral Home.

Cean Brown Boerger Sheffield
Mrs. Cean Brown Boerger Sheffield, 60, of Junction, died Saturday, August 2, 2003, at the residence following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Sheffield was born in St. Helen, Oregon, on February 13, 1943, to Ivan and Lucile Brown.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening, August 6, at Graham Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 7, in the Liberty Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Sheffield was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Edward Boerger, in 1990, and by a son, Eric Boerger, in 1992.
She is survived by her husband of nine and one-half years, C.V. Sheffield; a son, Todd Boerger; her parents, Iva and Lucile Brown; one step-son, Trey Sheffield; one step-daughter, Sherry Harlan; brother, Ivan Brown, Jr.; and three step-grandchildren, Sterling, Sierra and Skyler Harlan.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Cean’s name to any cancer charity.

Melba Jean Taylor
Melba Jean Taylor, of Junction, passed from this life on Sunday, March 2, 2003. The second child of Louie Taylor and Ola Kathryne Bowers, she was born March 27, 1934, in Junction. A resident of Junction for most of her life, Melba Jean graduated from Junction High School in 1953, where she played baseball.
Ms. Taylor enjoyed the outdoors and had a life long passion for fishing. Other hobbies included making belts from rattlesnake skins and cooking for her family. She was a member, along with Loma Taylor, of the "Over the Hill Gang" barbeque cooking team that won the championship at the Brady Cook Off in 1984. Her daughter, Holly, and Melba Jean also won the goat-milking contest at the Menard Rodeo.
When holidays came she loved celebrating with her family. Melba Jean loved children, animals and people in that order. No lost or hurt animal ever left her house without being nursed and loved. When asking her family what they would remember their mother most for, they said, "she lived life to the fullest and always had something going, and she taught us and her grandchildren how to live."
Ms. Taylor was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy, in 1958, and her parents. Survivors include her six children, Jake Gordon, Terry Gordon, Holly Black, Jamie Carter, Linda Page and Glenda Mullins; seven grandchildren; her special friend, David Cude; sister Richadene Williams; and brothers Leonard Taylor, Bobby Taylor and Sammy Wilder.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Morris Cook and Chaplain Jack Cook officiating. Interment icon followed in the Junction cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Graham Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jake Gordon, Terry Gordon, Jamie Carter, Garrett Black, Blayne Black and Danny Taylor. Honorary pallbearer was Chad Carter.

Robert Edward Gorman
Robert Edward Gorman, age 81, passed from life into death back into life on February 28, 2003, in San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Gorman was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Temple, Texas, to Henry and Frankie Gorman.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in November, 1942, and served in the Pacific Theatre during 1943 and 1944.
He was married to Dorothy Marie Godsey of Tahoka, in 1943.
He participated in action on Abimama Atoll, in the Gilbert Islands between Nov. 21-25, 1943, on the Majuro Atoll, in the Marshall Islands between Jan. 30 and February 1, 1944, and on the Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands between Feb. 17-22, 1944. Mr. Gorman was wounded in action at Parry Island on Feb. 22, 1944, for which he received the Purple Heart. His wounds were severe, resulting in permanent physical challenges which Mr. Gorman overcame daily through the exercise of his indomitable spirit.
Mr. Gorman was honorably discharged Oct. 11, 1944, after many months of hospitalization. After returning home to Amarillo, Mr. Gorman and his brother William Gorman went into the weatherstripping and caulking business and began successful careers as owners of E-Z Tight, Inc.
Mr. Gorman’s wife, Marie, passed away in 1962. He later married Ruby Floyd Nicholson of Amarillo, on May 4, 1974.
After retiring from business, Mr. and Mrs. Gorman moved to a ranch in Junction, and later to San Antonio.
Mr. Goman was preceded in death by his brother William Gorman. He is survived by his wife Ruby Gorman; his siblings Katy Polkinghorn, Harry Gorman and Dorothy Campbell; his children, Robert Gorman, Jr., William Gorman, Michael Nicholson, Betty Gorman Moilan, and Gail Jenkins; and by his grandchildren, Chrissie, Tate and Ashleigh Gorman; Drew, Blake, and Holly Moilan; and John Mark Jenkins; and by his loving caregivers, Isabel and Richard Ybarra.
Mr. Gorman is remembered for loving the Lord and his family, for serving his country with pride, and for teaching his family to never give up doing their best. Visitation began at 5 p.m. at Porter Loring on Monday, March 3.
Services were held Tuesday, March 4, at noon, at Porter Loring Chapel in San Antonio, with the Rev. Johnny White officiating. Interment icon was in Fort Sam Houston National cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to the Disabled American Veterans or charity of their choice. A reception was held at The Towers at 2:30 p.m. Select “Sign Guestbook” at the bottom of the individual Memorial.
