Jennifer Auston, age 69, passed away, Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Amarillo. Services are pending with Moore-Rose Funeral Home.

Betty Campbell
April 27, 1926 - May 21, 2015
Floydada, Texas

Betty Jean Swepston Campbell was born in the Floyd County Hillcrest Community on April 27, 1926. She passed away at her home in Motley County on May 21, 2015, at the age of 89 years and 24 days. Memorial Service will be 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Matador. Arrangements are under the care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

Betty Jean was a lifelong resident of Floyd and Motley Counties. She attended school in Hillcrest and Floydada, graduating from Floydada High School in 1944. She married Hal Vance Campbell in Oakland, California on July 21, 1945, where Vance was stationed in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, they returned to Motley County, living at the original Matador ranch home site until purchasing land and a home in the Cedar Hill Community in Floyd County, where they lived and raised their three children. In 1971, they built their current home on the edge of the caprock in Motley County on ranch land that has been in the family for over 125 years. While raising her children and working side by side with her husband in the farm and ranch business, Betty was active in many civic organizations. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Floydada and Matador, she was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and past regent of the Plainview chapter and for many years was active in Floydada 1934 Study Club, and several bridge clubs. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Matador.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Cheryle Jean Stark and husband, Mike; her son, Wes Campbell and wife Lynn; daughter-in-law, Polly Campbell, all of the Dougherty Community; seven grandchildren; Donna Jean Protsman, Wesley Campbell, Sonya Campbell, Vance Stark, Tracie Thomas, Jason Campbell and Anna Bradford, 12 great grandchildren, Devin Penny, Virginia Protsman, Kendra Protsman, Brayden Campbell, Kortney Campbell, Braxton Stark, Jacob Stark, Robert Lyons, Kristie Lyons, Abbie Thomas, Dempster Campbell and Ben Bradford, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Hal Vance Campbell in April, 2007, her oldest son; Ken Vance Campbell in 2004, her parents, A.T. and Beulah Sweptson, her sisters; Chrystine Colston, Mary Anne Sweptson, Lottie Bell Burns, and a brother, Hershel Swepston.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Hospice Hands of West Texas in Lockney, Texas, The First United Methodist Church in Matador, Motley County Museum, The Floyd County Museum or to the charity of your choice.

Denise Deann McNeely
August 3, 1965 - March 11, 2015
Wolfforth, Texas

Denise Deann "D.D." McNeely, age 49, passed away, Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2015 at Westwood Church in Lubbock with Steve Shaw officiating. A viewing at East Mound cemetery will be at 2:30 p.m.-2:45 p.m. Graveside will start at 3:00 p.m., at East Mound cemetery in Matador. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

D.D. was born on August 3, 1965 in Crosbyton to Johnny and Sammie (Porter) Phillips. She married Jerry McNeely on February 12, 1993 in Lubbock. D.D. was a 1984 graduate of Motley County. She worked at Interim Healthcare for over 20 years and loved to work. D.D. was a member of the Westwood Church and a very faithful volunteer to the children ministry. She loved to shop, antiques and anything that was old. She enjoyed going on vacation to Colorado. D.D. loved to spend time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her father; Johnny Phillips.

D.D. is survived by her husband; Jerry McNeely of Wolfforth, two sons; Joshua McNeely and Austin McNeely, mother; Sammie Phillips of Matador and sister; Debbie Shannon of Roaring Springs.

Memorials may be made to the Haven Animal Shelter-4501 North FM 1729, Lubbock, Texas 79403.

David Gilbert Holt
November 8, 1952 - February 18, 2015
Silverton, Texas

David Gilbert Holt went to meet his Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Funeral Service will be Saturday February 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Silverton with Pastors Steve Rogers, GJ Walton and Oscar Chavez officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Silverton cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Moore-Rose Visitation Center in Silverton. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home.

David was born on November 8, 1952 in Silverton, TX to Rex Gilbert and Theta Inez Stephens Holt. David graduated from Silverton High School in 1971. He met the love of his life, Deborah Johnson of Plainview, TX. They were married on September 27, 1985 in Plainview, TX at her parent's home. David loved life, he especially loved making people laugh. He was a practical jokester, and was always up to something. He had an infectious smile and laugh that would light up a room. David had many friends and would always have a pot of coffee ready for them in the mornings at the office. His passions in life were his fertilizer business, farming, and watching his five sons play Friday night football. You could always find David on the sidelines by listening for the train horns after a Silverton touchdown. He loved the Lord and it showed in the way he lived his life and led his family.

David was preceded in death by his brother; William Clay Holt.

He is survived by his parents Theta and Rex Holt, his wife: Deborah Johnson Holt, Five sons; Lance and wife Misty of Silverton, TX, Zeb and wife Jade of Silverton, TX, Jared and wife Doshia of Decatur, TX, Jeremy and wife Kylie of Amarillo, TX, and Cade of Lubbock, TX, one sister; Karen and husband Doug Turner of Lubbock, TX, one brother; Kent and wife Donna of Silverton, TX, six grandchildren; Elizabeth of Silverton, TX, Lucas of Silverton, TX, Briggs of Amarillo, TX, Joshua of Decatur, TX, Isabella of Silverton, TX, and Brady of Amarillo, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Cogdell Clinic in Silverton.

Truman Rudy Zachary
March 26, 1931 - June 18, 2015
Lockney, Texas

Truman "Rudy" Zachary, 84, of Lockney passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015. Visitation will be tonight, June 22, 2015 from 6:00 -7:00 p.m. at Moore-Rose Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Lockney. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose Funeral Home, 402 S. Main, Lockney.

Rudy was born on March 26th, 1931 in Brownfield, Texas to Truman and Nina Zachary.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Jennifer Pierce.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Wanda; one daughter, Greta Pierce and husband Kirby from Mena, Arkansas; one son, Zach from Lockney; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to: First Baptist Church of Lockney; Lockney Fire Department and The American Lung Association.

Fernando Cortez, of Lockney, passed away, Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Lockney. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at San Jose Catholic Church in Lockney. Fernando was born on September 14, 1934 to Fortino and Maria Ana (Rodriguez) Cortes in Montemorelos N.L., Mexico, Fernando was a Cursillista, a member of the Men's Sacred Heart Group, Charismatic Group, and a Eucharistic Minister/Lector.

Fernando is preceded in death by his parents; Fortino and Maria Ana (Rodriguez) Cotres, a son; Fernando Cortez, a daughter; San Juanita Cortez, brother; Marcelino Cortez, and a brother-in-law; Samuel Guerra.

Zelda A. Leeper
September 27, 1939 - July 12, 2015
Quitaque, Texas

Zelda A. Leeper, age 75, of Quitaque, passed away, Sunday, July 12, 2015 in Amarillo. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Quitaque. Interment icon will follow at Resthaven cemetery in Quitaque. Arrangements are under the care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Quitaque.

Zelda was born to Odus and Nell (Clark) Phillips on September 27, 1939 in Slaton, Texas. She married Wilburn Leeper on August 8, 1958 at Happy Union Baptist Church in Plainview, Texas. Zelda graduated from Plainview High School in May of 1958. After starting her family, she returned to college and graduated from the Panhandle State University in 1972. Zelda continued her education at West Texas State University, where she earned her Master's Degree in Education in 1985. She was employed for her entire 26 years at Valley Consolidated School. Zelda lived in the Texas Panhandle for her whole life; when she was newly married she lived in Plainview, Texas and then moved to Quitaque where her husband taught school. They then moved to Wildorado, Texas, Texhoma, Texas and then finally they returned to Quitaque, Texas where she lived until her death. Zelda loved her church, her town, and her school. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church wherever she lived.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Wilburn Leeper, her father; Odus, and her brother; Odus.

Zelda is survived by her children; Ronda Purcell and husband Randy, Scott Leeper and his family, Karen and Kaitlyn, her mother; Nell Clark of Jacksonville, Texas two sisters; Janice Williams of San Antonio, Texas, Marilyn Roberts of Jacksonville, Texas, a brother; David Phillips of Seguine, Texas and many other nieces and nephews.

The family is requesting that all memorials be made to the Wilburn Leeper Scholarship, Tri-County meals, and the Quitaque EMS.

Faye Brown Self
February 1, 1930 - May 17, 2015
Silverton, Texas

Faye Brown Self, age 85, of Silverton, passed away, Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Lockney Nursing Center in Lockney from congestive heart failure after surviving non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 19 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Silverton Church of Christ. Interment icon will follow at the Silverton cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home

Faye was born in the Francis Community to U. D. and Zemily Brown on February 1, 1930. She was the 4th of 6th daughters who all attended the Silverton schools.

Faye graduated from Silverton High School in May 1946 at age 16 and married the love of her life, J. L. Self on August 1, 1946. It was the end of WWII and J. L. and Faye spent a short time in El Paso while J. L. completed his stint in the Army. This was the only time in her life when Faye did not live in Silverton.

J. L. and Faye built their first home 8 miles south of Silverton on highway 207 where they lived until her death. As a farmer's wife, Faye held jobs of all kinds. She drove trucks, hoed cotton, laid irrigation pipes, drove a tractor, canned foods, tended livestock, but the best job she had was wife and mother. She was a 4H leader, a Sunday school teacher, an EMT for the local ambulance company, and a supporter of J. L. who loved to play baseball. She and J. L. loved to play contract bridge and belonged to bridge clubs and later learned to play bridge on the internet.

After her children married and moved on, Faye went back to school and obtained certification as a licensed vocational nurse. She spent over 20 years working at local nursing homes where she loved taking care of the residents.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Doyle (died at age 2), and sisters Lois Nance, Doris Mercer, and AvaNell Huffman.

Faye is survived by her husband of 68 years, J. L. Self, daughters: Joni (John) Daniels, Little Rock, AR; Kathy (Micky) Woodard, College Station, TX; and son Marvin (Linda) Self, Post, TX. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Melannie Lewis and Ginger Veal of Panama City, FL; Jamie (Luchi) Frizzell, Weatherford, TX; Casey (Lori) Frizzell, Austin, TX; Colby Self, Pflugerville, TX; and Kaylee (John) Sicotte, Magnolia, TX. 8 great grandchildren: Riley Lewis; Rex Wadley; Natalie and Martin Frizzell; Katy Frizzell; and Hannah, Lauren, and Stanley Sicotte. Two sisters: Ann (Duane) Wright, Austin, TX, and Joy Wood, Kilgore, TX
