Laura (Wensel) Huff
Laura (Wensel) Huff, age 96 and the widow of Willie Huff, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Hospice Brazos Valley in Bryan. Visitation with the Huff family will be from 5-7 pm, tonight, Friday, March 21st in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service for Laura Huff will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22 in Welcome Lutheran Church with Rev. John R. Sutton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Laura (Wensel) Huff is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Judy Huff of the Welcome Community, Gale and Tommy Horlen of Hearne; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Connie and Teola Huff of Nelsonville; niece Dale (husband Leslie) Heinsohn of Frelsburg as well as other relatives and friends. Memorials may be given to Welcome Lutheran Church Building Fund, Hospice Brazos Valley or charity of choice. Marie Batdorf
Marie Batdorf, age 82, of Brenham passed away peacefully Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Brenham Rest Home in Brenham, Texas. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. A funeral service for Marie will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel, with internment to follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Marie was born on June 5, 1931 in Brenham to Stella and Hugh Durden. She attended and graduated from Brenham High School. She married Walter “Pete” Batdorf on July 30, 1950 in Brenham. As a young girl, she worked at an ice cream parlor in Brenham, where she met Walter. After marriage she worked several years at Dobert’s Ready To Wear Dress Shop in Brenham. She then worked for over 25 years for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, starting out as a dispatcher, and soon acquiring her certification to become a deputy. Marie served under four sheriffs during her tenure. Marie also worked as a bailiff for Washington County Court at Law for 5 plus years following her service to the Sheriff’s Office. She was a longtime member of Brenham Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Walter “Pete” Batdorf, her parents, son Darrel, and a half-brother Walter Durden. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Danny and Diana Batdorf of Brenham; grandchildren Jessica Lyn Radnitzer and husband Joshua of Nacogdoches, Valerie Ann Batdorf of Nacodoches, and Allen Walter Batdorf of Brenham. If desired, memorials may be given to Brenham Church of Christ, 2800 Victory Lane, Brenham, Texas 77833. Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer Street, Brenham, Texas 77833. 979-836-3611.

Delbert R. “Del” Crocker
Delbert R. “Del” Crocker, 91, of Brenham, the widower of Ellen Crocker, died March 11, 2014, at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham. The family will receive visitors from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be Sunday, March 16 at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Martin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Survivors include his children, Janet Booe and husband Everett, Gary Crocker and wife Angela, Glen Crocker and wife Lynda, Carol Bunkley and husband Jim, and Duane Crocker and wife Monica; grandchildren, Jonathan Booe, Taylor Booe and wife Tyra, Emily Crocker, Gregory Crocker, Kelly Crocker, Marcy Crocker, Ally Williams and husband Tim, Hunter Bunkley, Ashton Crocker, Austin Crocker, Jackson Crocker and Madeline Crocker; and brother-in-law Buddy Ward and wife Gloria, and sister-in-law, Pat Ward. He was expecting his first great-grandchildren, Raylen and Ryder Booe, in June. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Crocker on May 29, 2011; his parents; sister, Janette Sims; brothers and sisters-in-law Ben and Beth Dumas, Ethel and Darold Friermood, and John Ward. Vernice Geneal Neumann
Vernice Geneal Neumann, 80, wife of Allen Neumann, died March 11, 2014 at Brenham Nursing and Rehab. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, with Pastor Pat Lehrer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6 until 8 p.m. Survivors include her husband, Allen Neumann of Brenham; sons Veryl Neumann and Kelley of Shelby, and Jay Neumann of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law Cindy and Donald Lyles of Brenham, and Barbara and Chris Gremmel of Bellville; sister and brother-in-law Doris and August Voelkel of Shelby; grandchildren: Bobbi Jo Lyles Supak and husband Matt, Chadd Neumann and wife Kaci, Justin Lyles and wife Emilie, Ly Nae Neumann, Courtney Gremmel and fiancé Billy Bender, Bailee Gremmel, Blake Gremmel, Nick Neumann, and Lacey Jae Neumann; great-grandchildren: Brazos Supak, Sandy Supak, Brodie Jones, Braigen Calvin, Nathan Simons, Chase Neumann, John Henry Steward, and newly arrived Kimber Bender. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Norma Dippel and granddaughter, Ashley Lyles. Funeral arrangements for Vernice Neumann are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Freddie Leon Pryor Sr.
(March 15, 1930 - September 9, 2011)
Funeral services for Fred Pryor Sr., 81 of Bastrop, Texas, are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Ridgeway Baptist Church in Paige, Texas with Roger Osborn officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgeway Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
Fred passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing & Rehab Center.
Freddie Leon Pryor Sr. was born on March 15, 1930 in Indanola, Oklahoma to Delbert & Viola (Beck) Pryor. He was united in marriage to Mary June Swift on October 23, 1953 in Houston, Texas. Fred was a retired heavy equipment operator and also owned and operated Fred's Lawn Service which served the Bastrop and Lee County areas. He enjoyed gardening and working hard. He was an active member of Ridgeway Baptist Church in Paige where he had assisted in building the current sanctuary and helped to take care of the landscaping.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert & Viola Pryor; two brothers, Dinis and Bob and a sister, Agnes.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Mary Pryor of Bastrop; four children, Becky & Gary Eller of Panhandle, Texas, Leslie & Pat Garcia of Moses Lake, Washington, Melody Diamond of California and Freddie & Stephanie Pryor Jr. of Bastrop; grandchildren, Mike & Libby Caldwell, Shannon Eller, Genifer Eller, Sarah Pryor, Destiny Pryor and Jacob Pryor as well as numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren living out of state; three brothers, L.D. Pryor of Oklahoma, Bill Pryor of Washington and John Dailey Pryor of Washington; four sisters, Thelma Cartmell of Bowie, Texas, Ruth Shelton of California, Ellen Mikesell of Utah and Erma Rotella of Washington as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Caldwell, Gary Smith, Gary Wade Smith, Jacob Cantrell Pryor, Jay Randell McRee and Kevin Andrew McRee.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Lillian Lena Palousek
Funeral services for Lillian Lena Palousek, 91, of Brenham, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton, with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Mrs. Palousek, the widow of John Palousek, passed away March 11, 2014 at Brenham Nursing and Rehab. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Survivors include her sons Kenneth Michalk of Brenham, and Darrell Palousek of Dallas, a daughter, Joyce Palousek of Austin, and a grandchild, Christina Yoder. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Palousek; brother, Eldo Sommerfeld, sisters Anita Wuensche, Lorine Wuensche, Freda Kieke, and Mamie Whitworth. Funeral arrangements for Lillian Lena Palousek are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Evelyn Metzger
Evelyn Metzger, age 91 of Brenham, and the widow of Bruno Metzger, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014. Evelyn is survived by her son, Roger and his wife, Tamy of Brenham; her daughter, Karla Thomas and her husband, Ken Thomas of Lake Travis; and her son, Dean and his wife, Julie of Austin. She is additionally survived by grandson Kurt, who lives in Dallas with his daughters Bailey, Aubrey and Ellie; grandson Ryan who lives in Frisco, Texas with his wife, Olivia, and daughters Grace and Evan; and granddaughter Claire who is attending Texas A&M University in College Station. She also leaves behind sister-in law, Charlene Petsch and nephew, Thomas Petsch, both of San Antonio. Visitation with the family will be Friday, March 14, 2014 from 6 PM to 8 PM, with a wake service beginning at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, March 15, 2014 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brenham, Texas, and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all caring friends and staff at Kruse Village and Hospice Brazos Valley. Erna H. Pieper
Erna H. Pieper, 93, widow of Bennie Pieper, died March 9, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, March 13, 2014, 10:00am, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem with pastors Charles Parnell and Toby Burk officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, March 12, from 6:00-8:00pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law; Bobie and Nina Pieper, Lloyd and Diane Pieper. Son-in-law; Homer Burran. Grandchildren and their spouses; Steven and Robin Higgins, Tracy (Pieper) and Bill Danes, Dale and Corinne Pieper, Melanie (Pieper) and Donny Roberts, Matt and Amy Pieper. Fifteen great-grandchildren whom she cherished: Jim, Blake, Rusty and Jeffery Higgins; Samantha and Hanna Danes, Ashlyn and Lacey Pieper, Broc Bosse, Kate Roberts, Sarah Beth (Roberts) and Stackley McConnell, Elizabeth Hegar, Hunter and Hayden Pieper, and Cole Orosco, and two great- great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 67 years, Bennie, Daughter-Betty Burran, grandson-Craig Higgins, Sister-Norma Pieper, and brother-in-law-Alfred Pieper, brother-Melvin Dannhaus and sister-in-law-Manola, brother-Arthur Dannhaus, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law-Willie and Ella Pieper, Erwin and Billie Pieper, Hattie and Herbert Pieper, sisters-in-law; Nelda Pieper, Ella Mae Pieper, Clara Ware and husband Clinton. Anita Bender, 90, of Brenham, died March 5, 2014, in Brenham Nursing and Rehab Center in Brenham. Edna Anne Eickenhorst Ham, 97, of Brenham, passed away March 3, 2014 in Bryan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivey; son-in-law, William R. Gaskamp; brothers-in-law Milton Ham, Eddie Walden, Robert Brezik, Hubert Wallace, Marvin Graham and Jack Ham; and sisters-in-law Mildred Ham, Madeline Ham and Maudie Graham. Her family also includes a brother-in-law Ford Ham, sisters-in-law Cordie Ham Wallace, Robbie Ham Walden, Jessie Ham Brezik, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
