PULASKI - Ida Dalton Edwards Chester, age 84 of 1025 Floyd Lane, Pulaski Born Aug. 6, 1919 in Pulaski, she was the daughter of the late Sanders Dalton and Mary Rankin Dalton. She was preceded in Interment will follow at Hufford died Tuesday December 9, 2003 at Pulaski Community Hospital. death by his first wife; Gladys Wheeling Kirby. He is survived by his wife; Dorothy Hedge Duncan Kirby of Pulaski: 1 son; John D. Kirby, Jr. of Roanoke, Va. and his wife Susan: 2 step-sons; Robert W. “Bob” Duncan of Mechanicsville, Va., and Michael Duncan of Keswick, Va.: 1 brother; Clifton Kirby of Pulaski and his wife Frances. Also survived by 3 grandsons: John Daves Kirby, Tyler Hamilton Kirby and his wife Lindsey, and Jordan Cabaniss Kirby all of Roanoke. Funeral Services will held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Weston Guthrie and the Rev. Cecil Albano officiating. passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003.

RETHA OPHELIA ELLER WHITE
DUBLIN - Retha Ophelia Eller White, age 81, of Dublin passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 at the New River Valley Medical Center.

She was a member of the Pulaski Primitive Baptist Church. She was retired from Pulaski Furniture Company and the Dublin Middle School where she worked in their cafeterias.
Surviving are: her husband, Charles J. Marshall, Newbern; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Jack Wright, Newbern, Teresa and Jim Davis, Newbern; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Joyce Hurst, Newbern, Timmy and Debbie Hurst, Newbern, Mark and Kimberly Hurst, Ft. Meade, Md.; stepdaughter, Sherry Marshall Hurst, Winston Salem; stepson, Thomas Lynn Marshall, Pulaski; 15 grandchildren, Ben Wright, Abby Wright, Scott Hurst, Stefanie Hurst, Shannon Hurst, Sara Davis, Jessica Davis, Christie Coleman, Emily Hurst, Caleb Hurst, Samantha Hurst, Ashley Hurst, Sterling Hurst, Lynn Hughes, Cindy Bailey; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Burgess Bailey, New Castle, Bobby Bailey, Roanoke; sisters, Eunice Adams, Roanoke, Edith Bailey, Roanoke.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 11 a.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel with Elder Jay Harris officiating. Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski. The family will be meeting at the home of her daughter, Sue Wright, 4595 Abby Lane, Newbern Community.

THELMA CAVINESS LEEDY SANDERS
WYTHEVILLE - Thelma Caviness Leedy Sanders, age 83, of Wytheville, born in Carroll County, Va., Mar. 25, 1920. Daughter of the late Jesse James and Martha Puckett Caviness. She was preceded in Interment will follow in the West End death by her father, Noah Allen Bain. Survivors include her mother and step-father, Mary B. and Hayden Laxton of Christiansburg; two sisters,Pamela Whitaker of Christiansburg, and Tracy Brewster of Christiansburg.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bain Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Phillip Martin officiating. Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the familyrequests that contributions be made to the Bain Chapel Church Building Fund, 4527 Bain Chapel Road, Radford, Virginia 24141. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

ERVIN MONROE BEASLEY
Ervin Monroe Beasley, 90 of Radford, death by his wife, Zeda Mae Beasley. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Darrell Cromer of Radford; and a sister, Mabel B. Nester of New River. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Ersel Alderman officiating. passed away Friday, December 5, 2003 at his home in Radford. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and a U. S. Army veteran having served during WWII. He was a retired Quality Control Engineer for Hercules with 33 years of service. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry L. and Phoebe Berg Bishop, and a sister, Marjorie Fritzel. Survivors include his wife of 56 * years, Verna W. Bishop of Radford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip E. and Kira Bishop of Orlando, FL, and Mark A. and Lou Don Bishop of Radford; a daughter, Elaine Brooks of Griffin, GA; a daughter-in-law, Marsha Bishop of Orlando, FL; a brother, Keith Bishop of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren and their spouses, Teresa and Mike Chambers, Michelle and Alex Jones, Stephen and Laura Bishop, Shaughna Bishop, and Aaron Bishop; and two great-grandchildren, Cliff Roberts and Cameron Chambers. Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 7, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Lockerby officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to either the Central United Methodist Church Choir or to John’s Island Missions. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.

AUDREY FARMER EIDSON
DELTAVILLE - Audrey Farmer Eidson, age 73, of Deltaville widow of Leo C. Eidson passed away Tuesday Dec. 2, 2003 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mr. Marshall was predeceased by a son, Gary Christopher Marshall.
Surviving are: his children, James Henry Marshall, Fla., Nina Elizabeth Schug, N. C., Emilie Lou Owen, Va., Sherwin Nolan Marshall, Va., Kim Celeste Martin, Mass., Timothy Alan Marshall, Va.; one brother, Robert Marshall, N. C.; four grandchildren, Thomas Andrew Collins, Richard Clark Owen, Ginny Marshall, Piper Palmer; six great grandchildren.
Interment will follow at Liberty Hill died Wednesday morning, Dec. 3, 2003, at the home of her brother, W.F. Macy, Sr. She was death by her husband, Joseph Caleb Shepherd. She was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, Pulaski, and was a retired registered nurse having worked at both Pulaski Hospital and Pulaski Community Hospital with over 30 years of service.
Surviving are : one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bill Stolley, Virginia Beach; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Jenny Shepherd, Pulaski, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, W.F. Macy, Sr. and Donna Macy, Pulaski, Va.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one nephew; three nieces.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Pastor John Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Thursday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to the First Church of the Brethren, 1749 Newbern Road, Pulaski, Va. 23401.

MADELYN PALMITER ROYAL
DUBLIN - Madelyn Palmiter Royal Born to Fred and Carrie Palmiter in Mobile, Alabama on January 16, 1928, she and her sister Shirley were raised in Mobile. She never judged or complained, only supported. Her memory will continue to inspire her family and be a source of pride and comfort in the years to come. Her ashes will be scattered on her favorite hill at the family farm in Bluegrass, Virginia. A public memorial service will be announced at a later date.

RHONDA LYNN SAYERS LOVERN
BARREN SPRINGS - Rhonda Lynn Sayers Lovern, age 38 of 3115 Foster Falls Road, Barren Springs Born Sept. 8, 1965 in Radford, Va. She was the daughter of Clifton Kermit Sayers and Mary Umberger Sayers. She was employed by the Roanoke Times.
Surviving are: her parents, Clifton K. and Mary Sayers; two sons, Travis Mark Lefler, Wytheville, Jesse Lee Young, Draper; one daughter, Danyale Leann Young, Draper; brother, James Clifton “JC” Sayers, Draper; special aunt, Joann Lytton, Dublin; special cousin, Thelma Bailey, Pulaski; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 2 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with the Rev. Johnny Howlett and Rev. Gary Rorrer officiating. Cemetery, Draper. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd.

AGNES KING JOHNSTON
PULASKI - Agnes King Johnston, 87, of Pulaski, born in Laurel Fork, Va. on Sept. 2, 1916 and was the daughter of the late Oscar Davis King and Lilly Sutphin King. She was also preceded in Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Thursday at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 4005 Electric Road, Suite 202, Roanoke, Va. 24014-4135.

JOHN G. VALACH
PAGETON, W. VA. - John G. Valach, age 88, of Pageton, W. Va., Born on Dec. 27, 1914 in Pageton, he was a son of the late Vendel and Katherine Sabo Valach. He had been a lifelong resident of Pageton. He was a coal miner having retired with 52 years of service from Consol Coal Corp. at Jenkinjones. He was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, two brother, Frank and Mike; and three sisters, Emma, Mary, and Julia preceded him in Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Valach family.
