Melvin L. Olson
NEW LISBON, Wis. - Melvin L. Olson, 81, of rural New Lisbon, died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997, at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Hustler, Wis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today, in the church. The Hare Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mildred B. Streeton
BANGOR, Wis. - Mildred B. Streeton, age 64 years, died peacefully at her home in rural Bangor on Friday, February 7, 1997.
She was born November 18, 1932 in West Salem, Wisconsin to Carl and Ovedia (Danileson) Lee. She graduated from West Salem High School in 1950, and treasured the friendship and support of her fellow classmates. On various occasions she and her husband traveled out of state together to visit classmates in other areas of the United States. She married Hildreth Streeton on August 7, 1955 in West Salem, Wisconsin. Together they farmed the Streeton family farm in rural Bangor, until her death. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Mildred always aspired to do her very best. She was a member of the Bangor Baptist Church, and had served as treasurer for many years. She was very active in the Ladies Aide, American Baptist Women, and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Bangor and West Salem Historical Societies. Her summers were spent working in her large garden raising flowers and vegetables. She had a natural talent for writing, and had written various poems and stories on a variety of subjects, she was also a talented artist, with a particular interest in drawing. She was a regular exhibitor at the La Crosse Interstate Fair, and had won many awards throughout the years for her artwork, writing, canning, flowers and vegetables. She was honored to be recognized in the book ``For the Common Good,'' by Margaret Larson, for her years as a rural school teacher at both the White School in Burns Valley, and the Prairie School in rural Bangor.
She is survived by her husband, Hildreth of Bangor; four sons, Terry (Cindy) Streeton, and their children, Christopher, Sarah and Amy, of Burnsville, Minnesota, Greg (Stacy) Streeton, and their children, Matt and Paul of West Salem, Glenn (Beth) Streeton and their son, Andy of La Crosse, and Dale (Pattie) Streeton of West Salem; one daughter, Jenny (Steve) Finkbeiner, and their children, Michelle and Brian of Lakeville, Minnesota; one brother, Robert E. (Susan) Lee of Rockland; two sisters, Francis (Earl) Bockenhauer of Utica, Minnesota, and Cheryl Ann Lee of West Salem; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 1997 at the First Baptist Church in Bangor. Pastor Marge Erickson will officiate. Burial will be in the Burns Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fossum Funeral Home in Bangor on Monday, from 6 until 9 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday, from 12:30 p.m. until time of services.

Robert Carl August Panke
LA CRESCENT, Minn. - Robert Carl August Panke, 84 of La Crescent, died on Saturday, February 8, 1997 at the Franciscan-Skemp Healthcare Medical Center, La Crosse.
He was born in La Crosse on February 15, 1912 to August and Elsie (Bey) Panke. He married Wenonah Zisch on May 25, 1940 in Decorah, Iowa. Bob worked at Northern Engraving in La Crosse for many years until the plant's closing. He then worked at Norplex in La Crosse for several years before retiring.
Bob was a 50 year member and Past Master of the Morning Star Lodge #29. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of La Crosse, the Consistory of Eau Claire, and Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 71 of La Crescent.
Bob was also involved with the La Crosse Community Theatre and received two Dionysus Awards for his work. He was also a member of the La Crosse Coulee Chordsmen.
He is survived by his wife, Wenonah; two sons, Fred (Sheila) Panke of Onalaska, and Charles (Marlene) Panke of Bischheim, France; a daughter-in-law, Maureen Panke of Burlington, Wis.; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; four sisters, Elsie Genz of La Crosse, Loretta Walling of Cincinnati, Ohio, Clarice (Herbert) Hartson of Tulsa, Okla., and Marion (Arnold) Sunday of Winnebago, Ill.; many nieces and nephews; and his brothers in the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his son, James, on November 29, 1996; one brother, Leroy ``Butch'' Panke; and one sister, Elaine Devine.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 1997 at 11 a.m. from the La Crescent United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark B. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Dresbach Cemetery, Dresbach, Minn. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. A Masonic service by the Morning Lodge Star #29 will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the La Crescent United Methodist Church or the Chileda Foundation.

Mary Lou Elder
BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Mary Lou Elder, age 72, of Black River Falls, and formerly of La Crosse, died on Saturday, February 8, 1997 in Black River Memorial Hospital after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
The former Mary Lou Grahn was born in New Lisbon, Wis. on September 14, 1924 to John and Helen (Carter) Grahn. She graduated from New Lisbon High School in 1942.
She married Donald B. Elder on June 2, 1942. The couple had lived in La Crosse for over 20 years and had lived in Black River Falls since 1975. Donald Elder died on April 3, 1996.
Mary was a devoted mother and caretaker of her home. Her favorite pastimes were reading and fishing on the Black River with her husband. She very much appreciated the kindness bestowed upon her by friends and neighbors these last few months.
Survivors include her parents, John and Helen Grahn of Merrillan; three daughters, Chris Elder of Madison, Helen (Edward) Davig of Holmen, and Margaret (Dave Hall) Elder of Madison; four grandchildren, Donna Livesey, Ken (Lori) Livesey, Sonja (Mark) Davig Huesmann, and Caleb Elder-Hall; and three great-grandchildren, Sierra, Scott and Sawyer Livesey.
Funeral services for Mary Lou Elder will be Thursday, February 13, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. from the United Methodist Church, Black River Falls. The Rev. Charles Strong will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Merrillan.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until services. Memorials may be given to Black River Falls Public Library. The Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, is serving the family.

Inez C. (Mrs. Louis) Gardipee
BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Inez C. (Mrs. Louis) Gardipee, 87, of Black River Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997 in Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, both in Black River Falls. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls; and one hour prior to services Thursday, at the church. There will be a public prayer service at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or one's favorite charity.

Marilyn Claire Stubler
Marilyn Claire Stubler, 60, of La Crosse, died on Sunday, February 9, 1997 at the Franciscan Skemp Medical Center.
She was born in Evanston, Ill. on March 8, 1936 to Gustav and Clara (Grasser) Malling. She married John C. Stubler on September 3, 1960 in Evanston, Ill. Marilyn was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxilliary, the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Choir, and the Morning Glories Bowling League.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, John; seven children, Susan (Gene) Volden of Melrose, Wis., John J. Stubler of Holmen, Sherry (Kevin) Jenkins of Venice, Fla., Sharon Stubler of Minnetonka, Minn., Sheila Stubler of Phoenix, Ariz., Stephanie Stubler, and her fiance' Gary of Republic, Ohio, and Sandy (Sean) Sawyer of Republic, Ohio; two grandchildren, Courtney Volden and Alexis Jenkins; and one brother, Jerry (Ginnie) Malling of Oak Ridge, Tenn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 1997 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Bernard McGarty will officiate. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., where a Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Blessed Sacrament Endowment Fund, the Aquinas High School Endowment Fund, the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association.

Fritz W. Vehrenkamp
Fritz W. Vehrenkamp, 78, of La Crosse, died on Sunday, February 9, 1997 at the Franciscan Skemp Medical Center.
He was born in Bangor, Wis. on July 8, 1918 to Fred and Dora (Niedfeldt) Vehrenkamp. He married the former Mildred F. Korish. Fritz had been a bartender in many area taverns and restaurants, and retired from the La Crosse Eagles Club. He was a 25 year member of the La Crosse Eagles Aerie 1254.
Fritz is survived by his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Joann (Duke) Pyle of Tennessee; two sons, Fred ``Butch'' (Geraldine) Vehrenkamp of Michigan, and David W. (Kathy) Vehrenkamp of La Crosse; seven grandchildren, Vicky Armstrong, Ronald Naegle, Christy Vehrenkamp, Eric Vehrenkamp, Mark Vehrenkamp, Amy Vehrenkamp, and Anna Vehrenkamp; two great-grandchildren, Bradley Naegle and Kelli Armstrong; three sisters, Wilhelmina Weinke, Mary Manke, and Ruth (Maynard) Stratman, all of Bangor, Wis.; and one brother, Robert (Myrna) Davis of Bangor. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lid Wehrenberg and Lil Olson; his father, Fred; his mother, Dora; and stepfather, Robert Davis.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Bangor, Wis. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Darlene Joan Guberud
SPRING GROVE, Minn. - Darlene Joan Guberud, 44, of Spring Grove, Minn., died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997 at her home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Roble Funeral Home, Spring Grove; and one hour prior to services Wednesday, at the church. The family prefers memorial gifts be given to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Orlin R. Worman
JANESVILLE, Wis. - Orlin R. Worman, age 84, of 1710 N. Sumac Drive, died Saturday, February 8, 1997 at VNA Hospice.
He was born November 27, 1912 in Vernon County, Wis., the son of Frank and Elida (Gauper) Worman. A Janesville resident since 1965, he had previously lived in La Crosse. He married Myrtle Everson on December 20, 1933 in West Prairie, Wis. Mr. Worman was employed by the Janesville Board of Education for many years, retiring December 30, 1977. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Kiwanis Club, and was active in ECHO and the Meals on Wheels program.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; daughters, Mary Ann (James) Smalley of Greenfield, Wis., and Janice Vernon of Evanston, Ill.; a son, Douglas (Cheryl) Worman of Pflugerville, Texas; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Ellefson of La Crosse; a brother, Ellsworth Worman of Winnenucca, Nevada; sisters-in-law, LaVina Worman of DeSoto, Wis., Elida Melvin of Janesville, Wis., and Lois Everson of DeSoto, Wis.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Gladwyn and Grace Helmeid.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Valdo and Harold Worman.
Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 1997 at Faith Lutheran Church, Janesville. Interment will be in the Bad Axe Cemetery, Bad Axe, Wis. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Schneider Funeral Home, Janesville, Wis. Memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church, or the VNA Hospice.
