Taylor Nichole Benzing
WATERVILLE, Iowa - Taylor Nichole Benzing, three month old daughter of Blaire and Lori (Homewood) Benzing of Waterville, Iowa, died suddenly of complications due to heart problems on Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church and burial in Old East Paint Creek Cemetery, both in Waterville, Iowa.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Richard Kletus Sandau
Richard Kletus Sandau, age 40 of 217 Hinkley Road died Thursday, October 2, 1997, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.
He was born October 20, 1956, in La Crosse to K. Kletus and Carla (Richmond) Sandau. Since 1979, Richard worked for Clason Pontiac of La Crosse.
Richard is survived by his mother, Carla Korish of La Crosse; a sister, Sue Cole of La Crosse; a brother, Steven (Debra) Sandau of La Crosse; by two half brothers, John (Stephanie) Korish of La Crosse and Kenneth (Rose) Korish of Mauston, Wis.; by a stepsister, Anita (John) Mason of Lomira, Wis.; by four stepbrothers, Erwin (Bonnie) Korish, Thomas (Patricia) Korish and Harry (Linda) Korish, all of La Crosse and Richard (Janice) Korish of Cashton, Wis.; by two special god children, Marc Sandau and Kenny Korish, Jr.; by his maternal grandmother, Hazel Richmond of La Crosse; by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father on Feb. 24, 1963; his stepfather, Erwin Korish on May 2, 1996; by his brother, Timothy Sandau in 1994; his maternal grandfather, George Richmond; and his paternal grandparents, John and Lydia Sandau.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. James the Less Catholic Church. The Reverend Roger Scheckel will officiate and burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
Sletten McKee Hanson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Maynard O. Gilbertson
WESTBY, Wis. - Maynard O. Gilbertson, 77, of rural Westby, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at his home.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. from the Vosseteig Funeral Home, Westby. Burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday after 10 a.m. at the funeral home. A complete obituary will follow.

Morris B. Thompson
BLAIR, Wis. - Morris B. Thompson, 87, of rural Blair, Wis., died on Friday, February, 7, 1997, in the Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall, Wis.
Morris was born April 5, 1909, in the Trempealeau County town of Preston, Wis., to Iver and Josephine (Olson) Thompson. He married Alydia A. Johnson December 3, 1938, in Decorah, Iowa.
Mr. Thompson lived and farmed his entire married life in the town of Preston. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Blair, Wis., and will be remembered for his love for farming and of horses.
Morris is survived by his wife, Alydia; a daughter, Sharon (Andrew) Engen of Whitehall, Wis; four grandchildren, Brad (Judy) Engen of Appleton, Wis., Mike (Linda) Engen and Linette (Todd) Thronson both of Whitehall, Wis. and Audra (Bob) Sendelbach of Eagan, Minn.; nine great-grandchildren, Travis, Ashley and Kayla Thronson, Michelle, Abby, Erika, Allison and Brady Engen and Tyler Sendelbach; eight brothers, Eddie of Whitehall, Wis., Haldor, Clifford and Brent of Taylor, Wis., John (Junice) of Mankato, Minn., Tharold (Connie) of Rhinelander, Wis., Ole (Jean) of Brown Deer, Wis. and Ingvald of Georgetown, Calif; two sisters, Olive Carlson of Santa Rosa, Calif. and Ila Haltner of Eau Claire, Wis.
In addition to his parents, Morris was preceded in death by a son, Ronald and a brother, Martin.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 11, 1997 at 11 a.m., in the First Lutheran Church with burial in the Rest Haven Cemetery both in Blair, Wis. Revs. John Twiton and Kevin Jones will officiate.
Visitation will be Monday, February, 10, 1997, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair, Wis. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.

Mildred I. Stebbins
TOMAH, Wis. - Mildred I. Stebbins, 64, of R.1, Warrens, died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997, in Tomah Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, in Church of the Nazarene, Tomah. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Ninneman-Steele Funeral Home, Tomah, and from 10 a.m. until services Tuesday, in the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, rural Mather.

John W. Worthington
TOMAH, Wis. - John W. Worthington, 62, of Tomah, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, from St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tomah. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Town of Oakdale. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service, Monday, at Sonnenburg Funeral Home, Tomah and 10 a.m. until services Tuesday, in the church.

Constance (Schuttenhelm) Curtis
HINSDALE, Ill. - Constance (Schuttenhelm) Curtis of Hinsdale, Ill., died Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, in a Hinsdale, Ill., hospital.
She is survived by her loving mother, Mrs. Oliver Schuttenhelm of La Crosse; by her loving husband, James Curtis of Hinsdale, Ill.; by her daughter, Mrs. Richard Ettinger; by her son, Allen McClure; and six grandchildren, and a sister Gloria Daily.
Connie was a registered psychiatric nurse and volunteered at the Howard Brown Memorial Clinic. She sang with the choir at the Unitarian Church and with the Sweet Adelines Park West Group. She enjoyed gardening, classical music and loved modern jazz. Her bright lively spirit will be sorely missed.

Mary E. Johnson
FERRYVILLE, Wis. - Mary E. Johnson, 77 of rural Ferryville, died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 7, 1920 in Woodstock, Ill. to Arthur and Helen (Shulis) Cashmore.
She had taught first grade in the Deerfield School District, north of Chicago, for 32 years prior to her retirement. She married George Johnson April 2, 1966 in Chicago. They purchased the farm where they now reside in 1969 and moved there in 1971. They are members of the Utica Lutheran Church, and Mary was a member of the Mary Circle.
She is survived by her husband, George of Ferryville; by a brother, John Cashmore of Wauconca, Ill.; by nieces, Deborah Wilson of Libertyville, Ill., and Stephanie Earp of Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Irene Cashmore Clavy, a brother, Arthur and his wife, Imogene Cashmore, and a nephew Roy "Skip" Clavy, Jr.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997 at the Utica Lutheran Church. Pastor Paul Finger will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Dommersnaes Bertram Family Funeral Home, Gays Mills on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Utica Lutheran Church.

Charles "Charlie" Davis
Charles "Charlie" Davis, 82, died at Lutheran Hospital, Feb. 7, 1997, after a short illness.
He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Charlie was born Feb. 18, 1914, at home in Ferryville, Wis. Charlie was his own person and remained independent to the end. He loved to dance, play poker and was a skilled wood worker during his retirement. He was a member of the Laborer's Local 140.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years, Bernice Neary Davis, five daughters, Donna "Doni" Mikel, Dallas, Texas, Linda (Rodney) Gillmeister, Mindoro, Wis., Karlene (Duane) Walters, Vicki (James) Reynolds, Lorina (Steve) Cook, and one son, Howard (Janet) Davis, all of La Crosse, 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Floyd Davis, his mother Margaret Lee, a sister Mabel Seymour, a son, Donald ``Butch'' Davis, four infant children and four infant grandchildren.
He will be cremated, memorial service for family and friends will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
