Mary Maxine (Alderman) Collins
FRIENDSHIP, Wis. - Mary Maxine (Alderman) Collins, age 79, of Friendship and formerly of Sparta, Wis., died Monday, January 26, 1998, at the Villa Pines Nursing Home in Friendship, Wis.
She was born May 18, 1918, in the Township of Clinton, Vernon County, to William and Nellie (Mossholder) Alderman. She was a housewife most of her life.
She married Clayton R. Cavanaugh Sr. on November 21, 1936. To this union there were three children. This marriage ended in divorce. She then married Harold T. Collins on May 26, 1951. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1977.
She is survived by one son, Clayton R. (Helen) Cavanaugh, Jr., of Schuter, Okl.; two daughters, Marie L. (Dale) Lauritzen and Virginia A. (Donald) Schonasky, Sr., both of Sparta, Wis.; two brothers, Raymond Alderman of Adams, Wis., and Garland Seeger of Rockford, Ill.; 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 1998, 11 a.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church, Hwy. 13 South in Adams, Wis. Pastor Gary Olson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mount Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wis. Cty. Hwy. J.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.

Dorothy Isensee
SPARTA, Wis. - Dorothy Isensee, 77, of Sparta, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet (special friend Robert Hanssen) Isensee, Sparta and Carol (George) Strozewski, Wisconsin Rapids; two sons, Gerald Isensee, Wisconsin Rapids and Charles (Heidi) Isensee, Hayward, Wis.; four grandchildren, Christopher, Theron, Aaron and Megan; two step-brothers, Robert Neville and Richard Neville of California.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church, Sparta, with Father Bruce Gardner officiating and Deacon Jerome Kuehn assisting. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Sparta.
The Page-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charlotte Ervin
ROCKFORD, Ill. - Charlotte Ervin, 81, of Rockford, Ill., died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at her home in Rockford.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from Beeman-Patchak Funeral Home, Boscobel. Burial will be in the Gays Mills Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Beeman-Patchak Funeral Home in Boscobel on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Niel Burke
SOLDIERS GROVE, Wis. - Niel Burke, 76, of Soldiers Grove, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at the Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Sime Funeral Home, Readstown.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Bernice Ross Polivoda
Bernice Rose Polivoda, 79, died at her home on Tuesday, January 27, 1998.
She was born June 2, 1918, in La Crosse to Wenzel and Elsie (Jaekel) Tikal. She married Clarence Polivoda on June 25, 1938, in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1991.
She is survived by her son, Thomas of Amarillo, Texas; and his children, Lisa (George) Rogers, U.S.A.F., stationed in Montgomery, Alabama, Tonya (Cruz) Arce of Amarillo, Anton, Melissa Santiago and Nicholas (Melanie), all of Amarillo; her daughter, Rose Mary (Larry) Richardson of Onalaska, and her three sons, Jeffery of San Francisco, Jarrod, U.S.A.F., stationed in Great Falls, Montana, and James of Onalaska; her daughter, Mona (Dan) Hanson of Onalaska and her daughters, Wendy (Chip) Cantwell of Onalaska, and Robyn and son Don (Becky) and his daughters, Caitlin and Lillia of La Crosse; nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James.
Bernice was a generous and caring mother, grandmother and friend who never complained, showed kindness to everyone and will continue to inspire us with her love, dignity and strength. She will be dearly missed by her loving children, her grandchildren and her friends (especially those in her neighborhood knitting club).
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:45 a.m. at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 809 Gillette Street, and at 11 a.m. at St. James the Less Catholic Church. The Reverend Mancin Mankowski will officiate and burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Robert Joseph Lanz
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Robert Joseph Lanz, 63, St. Paul, Minn., died Jan. 27, 1998, at Southview Acres Nursing Home.
He was born Oct. 12, 1934, in St. Anthony, N.D., to Joseph and Rose Lanz.
He was employed with UNIVAC in St. Paul for many years.
Survivors are his former wife Donna Mae (Bolstad) Lanz, La Crosse; three sons, Steven, Brian (Christine), and Robb, all of La Crosse; one daughter Karen and her finance Scott, both of La Crosse; one grandaughter, Stephanie; two brothers, Richard (Patty) and Ed (Barbara); five sisters, Joanne (Ralph) Buchie, Rosella Lanz, Emily (Herbert) Fritzke, Margie Lanz and Mary Ellen (Gail) Gaston. He was also survived by many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Funeral services will be at Southern Funeral Home, South St. Paul, Minn. Thursday, Jan. 29, at 10:30 a.m. with cremation at Fort Snelling in St. Paul on Friday morning.
Look down and smile, dad, because we will look up and do the same.

Maurice J. Thompson
ROCKLAND, Wis. - Maurice J. Thompson, 94, of Rockland died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998 at Morrow Memorial Home in Sparta after a long illness.
He was born June 4, 1903 in Coon Valley to John and Mathilda (Ophus) Thompson. He married Emma Lamke June 11, 1936. The couple farmed the family farm for canning companies in Onalaska and Green Bay. He retired to Rockland in 1979. Maurice was a member of the United Methodist Church of Rockland.
Survivors include his wife, Emma; three daughters, Joan (John) Dolbier of Mindoro, Maralyn (William) Hubbard of Monroe and Vivian (Ronald) Robertson of Bangor; five grandchildren, Jill Hubbard Gunderson, Gail Hubbard Grossen, Gregory Hubbard, Trifton and Torek Dolbier; and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ray (Helen) Revor of La Crosse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 20, 1998 at the Seland Funeral Chapel in Coon Valley. Pastor John Brower will officiate with burial in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, rural La Crosse. Friends may call at the funeral chapel Friday from noon until the time of services.

Augusta ``Gussie'' Mann
BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Augusta ``Gussie'' Mann, age 90, of the Shamrock area of Jackson County, died Thursday, January 29, 1998, at the home of her daughter at Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 4, 1998, at 2 p.m. from the Shamrock Union Church and burial will be in the Shamrock Union Cemetery, both in rural Black River Falls. Friends may call at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until services.

Doris M. Sveen
PIGEON FALLS, Wis. - Doris M. Sveen, age 74, of Pigeon Falls, Wis. died on Wednesday, January 28, 1998, in the Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall, Wis.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 1998, at 11 a.m. in the Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pigeon Falls, Wis. Burial will be in the Old Whitehall Cemetery in rural Whitehall, Wis.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 1998, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall, Wis. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
