Carita C. Knocke
Carita C. Knocke, 95, formerly of 2201 Erie Ave. Sheboygan, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Washington Manor Nursing Home, Kenosha, WI.
Born January 9, 1906, in Sheboygan, Carita was a daughter of the late Roland and Cora Nehf Dern. On October 6, 1928, she was united in marriage to Steven Knocke at Grace Episcopal Church in Sheboygan. The couple was married for 30 years before Steven preceded her in death on March 15, 1959.
Mrs. Knocke was employed by Kuechle's Furniture and Draperies for 15 years, retiring in 1974. She was also a cook at Pine Lake Bible Camp for many years. She was a member of First United Lutheran Church and the Quilting Group, Friendly Visitors, Cancer Badge Group and Lutheran Social Service. Carita was also a companion to Mrs. Otto Wullueber for many years before she married. After moving to Kenosha in 1998, she attended St. Mary's Lutheran Church.
Carita is survived by two daughters, Martha (Rudy) Zarletti, Kenosha, WI, Cynthia (Marvin) Zimmerman, Sheboygan Falls; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Pipping and Cora Schultz, Sheboygan; two brothers, Arthur and Jack Dern, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert; five sisters, Helen Ver Duin, Marion Root, Catherine Wendtland, Carmen Jane Smith, and Ruth Dern; seven brothers, Leonard, Carl, Henry, Walter, Robert, Edward and Roland.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at First United Lutheran Church, 2401 Kohler Memorial Drive. The Rev. Karl J. Nelson, pastor, will officiate. Relatives and friends are welcome at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
A memorial fund will be established in her name.

Evelyn M. Lippert
Evelyn M. Lippert, age 85, of 1132 Superior Ave., died at her home on Monday, June 11, 2001.
Evelyn was born March 14, 1916, in Bristow, IN, to the late Radie E. and Stella M. (Rickenbaugh) Aders. She graduated from Bristow High School in 1934, and in 1939 graduated from Protestant Deaconess Hospital Nursing School as a registered nurse. She enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps on May 1, 1942, as a 2nd Lieutenant, and was stationed at Camp Perry and Erie Proving Grounds Station Hospital in Sandusky, OH. She was honorably discharged on Dec. 14, 1943. On June 5, 1943, she married Roland E. Lippert in Evanston, IL. The couple was married for 52 years until Roland preceded her in death on April 3, 1996.
The couple lived in Manitowoc and Collins for several years until moving to Milwaukee in 1955. In 1957, they moved to Oconomowoc where she worked at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. In 1969, they came to Sheboygan where Roland was employed as funeral director for Nickel's Funeral Home and Evelyn was employed at Morningside Nursing Home. Roland and Evelyn purchased the funeral home in 1976 and the name was changed to Nickel-Lippert Funeral Home. In 1990, the funeral home became Lippert Funeral Home, Inc. Following Roland's death, she transferred ownership of the funeral home to her son, Michael, and daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Bartel. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Altar Guild and Women's Guild of the church.
Evelyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pamela; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Bartel; two grandchildren, Kristin (Matthew) Woychek of Appleton, WI, James (Maureen) Lippert of Williams Bay, WI; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jennifer and Matthew, Jr. Woycheck, and Erin and Morgan Lippert; two sisters, Beulah Wood of Evansville, IN, and Gusta Barcus of New Castle, IN; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Mary Aders.
Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, N. 13th St. and Lincoln Ave., on Thursday, June 14, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Gregory S. Whelton will officiate. The St. John's Women's Guild will conduct a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are welcome at the Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave., on Wednesday, June 13, from 4:00p.m. unti 7:00 p.m. and again at the CHURCH, on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. Entombment will take place in the Garden Terrace Mausoleum of Lutheran Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Mildred M. Mahlendorf
Mildred M. Mahlendorf, 97, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Beach Health Care Center of the Sheboygan Retirement Home. She had been a resident of the retirement home since July 1, 1992 and became a resident of Beach on December 3, 1996.
Born in Manitowoc, WI on October 20, 1903, Mildred was a daughter of the late Fred and Mary Miller Matthies. She graduated from Sheboygan Business College. On September 30, 1935, she married Fred W. "Mollie" Mahlendorf in Chicago, IL. The couple made their home in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death in 1969.
She was employed by Ebenreiter Woodworking Co. for 10 years, retiring in 1972, and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
Mildred is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Nancy of rural Plymouth; and four grandsons and a great-granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by a grandson and a brother and sister.
Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery with private family committal services by the Rev. Gregory S. Whelton.

Beverly C. Palecek
Beverly Catherine Palecek, 69, formerly of 3804 N. 13th St., died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at Harmony House of Sheboygan, 3319 Superior Ave., where she had been a resident for the past 2 1/2 years.
Beverly was born August 26, 1931, in Milwaukee, to the late Oliver P. and Pearl M. (Willard) Schumacher. She attended Ozaukee Co. Schools and graduated from Port Washington High School in 1949. She then graduated at the top of her class as a Registered Nurse from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Oshkosh.
On August 16, 1952, she married Leo J. Palecek at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Fredonia. The couple lived in Fredonia and moved to Sheboygan in 1955. They were married for over 44 years when Leo died on July 2, 1997.
Beverly was a nurse at St. Alphonsus Hospital, Port Washington, for 3 years, and then at St. Nicholas Hospital for 6 years, retiring in 1961. She was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish. She enjoyed designing floor plans for houses and painting the interior and exterior of houses. She also enjoyed traveling and sightseeing with Leo, and playing the piano at Harmony House.
Beverly is survived by two sons and a daughter, Jim and his wife, Linda, of Sheboygan, Greg and his wife, Susan, of West Bend, WI, and Carey Primozic and her husband, Vaughn, of Elkhart Lake; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Butzen, Adam, Chad and Derek Palecek, and Matthew Primozic; three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Samuel and Elena Butzen; her sister, Cynthia Zettler of Fredonia; other relatives and friends. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gerold Zettler.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Beverly will be celebrated at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 822 New Jersey Ave., on Saturday, April 28, at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Richard Fleischman, pastor, will be celebrant. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the mass.
Beverly's family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Harmony House for the loving and compassionate care they provided to her. She considered all of the them as her "family."
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in her name.

Nancy L. Powers
Nancy L. Powers, 62, of 805 Buffalo St., Sheboygan Falls, WI, died unexpectedly, Monday, April 2, 2001, at Sheboygan Memorial Medial Center.
Nancy was born August 27, 1938 in Milwaukee, WI and moved to the Sheboygan area as a teenager. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and loved her kittys.
Mrs. Powers was employed for many years by Armira Leather Company.
She is survived by her life long friend, Richard Klismet, Sheboygan Falls; two daughters, Kristy Meyer, Sheboygan, and Karen Roberts, Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Amanda (Francis) Sobiech, Kiel, WI, Celeta (Eric) Kammerzelt, Whitewater, WI, and Myla (Gary) Brown, Sheboygan and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Francis, Jr. Sobiech. She was preceded in death by and infant son and daughter, a sister and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2001, at Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. Relatives and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for the American Cancer Society.

Shirley M. Ruppel
Shirley Mae Ruppel, 72, of 3016 W. Kay Drive, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2001, at her home.
Born April 8, 1929 in Milwaukee, Shirley was a daughter of the late Albert and Norma Bauer Thielke. On May 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to Elroy Ruppel in Portsmouth, VA.
Shirley loved to read, make crafts, play bingo, and was a dedicated mother and homemaker.
Besides her husband, Elroy, Shirley is survived by her two sons, Michael, St. Petersburg, FL, and Jeffrey, Seattle, WA; two brothers, Kenneth (Malou) Thielke, Milwaukee, and Dennis (Mary) Peuschold, Germantown, WI; three sisters, Betty (Don) Anderson, Eleva, WI, Patty (Harold) Schmidt, Antigo, WI, and Joyce Meidam, Milwaukee, WI. Further survived by brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services for Shirley M. Ruppel will take place on Monday, April 16, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Eternal Light at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6909 Superior Ave. The Rev. Gregory Whelton will officiate. Entombment will take place in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum. Family and friends are welcome at the Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave., on Sunday, April 15, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for Community Home Hospice.

Glen R. Sauer
Glen R. Sauer, 79, of 3422 S. 9th Street, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at his residence.
Born September 30, 1921, in Conrad, Montana, Glen was a son of the late Phillip and Alice (Robinson) Sauer. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army and served his country in W.W.II. until 1945. On May 4, 1946, he was united in marriage to Gladyce M. DeBruine in Sheboygan. They were married for 52 years before Gladyce preceded him in death on May 12, 1998.
He worked at the former Garton Toy Factory until its closing. He then worked as a machine operator at Lakeshore Display until his retirement. He was an avid reader, bowler and golfer. He enjoyed TV sports and loved to tell jokes and stories.
Glen is survived by his two daughters, Karen Lee O'Brien, Sheboygan and Ginn Ann (Paul) Lukas, Victoria, MN; four grandchildren, Raymond, III, Heather and Typton Quasius, Amanda Lukas; two great-granddaughters, Courtney and Abby Quasius; a twin sister, Mary Resch, Antigo, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents and his wife, Gladyce, Glen was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip.
A private family gathering will take place to celebrate Glen's life. There will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
