Carmen Schmidt
Carmen Schmidt, 85, formerly of 1830 N. 19th Street, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2001, in Georgia where she had lived near her family for the past five years.
Born May 26, 1915, in the Town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, Carmen was a daughter of the late Carl and Mary Poppenhagen Stanisch. She attended Jefferson School. On October 12, 1943, she was united in marriage to Richard Schmidt in Topeka, KS. They were married for 41 years before Richard preceded her in death on November 14, 1984.
Carmen was a clerk at Evan's Variety Store before retiring in 1972. She had previously worked for the Vollrath Co. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Carmen will be deeply missed by her three grandchildren, Karen (Brian) Chatt, Circle Pines, MN, Michael Schmidt, Clarkesville, GA, and Gayle-Rae Allen, Clarksville, GA; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband Richard and her parents, Carmen was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Schmidt, and six sisters.
Funeral services for Carmen Schmidt will take place on Saturday May 26, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. The Rev. Bert Thompson, Pastor of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
\Memorial funds have been established in her name for the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

Arlene E. Sonnenfeld
Arlene E. Sonnenfeld, 79, of 1717 N. 28th St., died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home, where she had been a patient the past two months.
Born May 13, 1921, in Sheboygan, Arlene was a daughter of John and Emily Hartmann. She attended Trinity Lutheran School and Sheboygan Business College. On June 27, 1942, she was united in marriage to Ruben Sonnenfeld in Sheboygan. The couple was married for 50 years before Ruben preceded her in death on June 28, 1992.
Arlene was employed for 23 years as head cashier at Piggly Wiggly, retiring in 1984. She was a volunteer at the Sheboygan Senior Center and the Red Cross Blood Mobile. She enjoyed knitting, dancing, bowling and golf. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was also confirmed.
She is survived by one son, James, Winona, MN; three grandchildren, Robin (Steve) Jenkins, Eagan, MN, Terry (Jodi) Sonnenfeld, Winona, MN, and Eric (Jamie) Sonnenfeld, Merced, CA; eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Hannah, and Amanda Jenkins, Stefan & Megan Sonnenfeld, Kayla, Eric, Jr., and Andrew Sonnenfeld and two sisters, Lorraine Schroeder and Wilma Wuestenhagen She is further survived by a special friend, Martin Eggebeen, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends Besides her parents and husband, Ruben, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Hartmann and a daughter-in-law, Sonnia Sonnenfeld.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. The Rev. Kevin R. Loughran, assistant pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Relatives and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for Trinity Lutheran Church.

Eleanor Anna Stemplinge
Eleanor Anna Stemplinger, 91, formerly of 2109 N. 19th Street, was born into eternal life on Thursday,April 19, 2001, at Meadow View Manor where she had been a resident since 1994.
She was born in Sheboygan on September 6, 1909, a daughter of the late Louis and Frances Gruber Aschenbrenner. She was a graduate of Holy Name Catholic School. On July 27, 1929, Eleanor and John "Hans" Stemplinger were married at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Hans preceded her in death on November 3, 1966.
Eleanor was employed at the American (later Thonet) Chair Company from 1966 until her retirement in 1977. She and Hans were lifelong members of St. Dominic Catholic Church and she belonged to the Christian Mother's Society of the church. They also were very active in the Bavarian Society and D'Werdenfelser Schuplatter Club. She loved gardening and playing cards, and was always ready to help her family and friends when they needed assistance.
Eleanor is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Aschenbrenner of Sheboygan; two nephews, Donald (Daniel) Aschenbrenner of Tomah, and William Aschenbrenner of Plymouth; four nieces, Celene (Lon) Kuntze of Sheboygan, Joann (Roger) Hintz of Waldo, Mary (James) Hawkins of Kenosha, and Heidi Braun of Ripon; other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by four brothers, Alfred, Aloys "Lefty", Wilhelm, and William Aschenbrenner; and two sisters, Verona "Fronie" Aschenbrenner and Frances Braun.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor will be celebrated at St. Dominic Catholic Church, N. 21st St. and Geele Ave., on Friday, April 27, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. James Jarumbo, pastor, as celebrant. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church, on Friday, from 12:00 noon until the time of mass. Eleanor was laid to rest on Friday, April 20, at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in her name.

Thomas C. Street
Thomas C. Street, 42, formerly of 1833 N. 20th St., of N9096 Dairyland Dr., Cleveland, WI, passed away at St. Nicholas Hospital on Monday, June 4, 2001.
Tom was born in Sheboygan on April 23, 1959, to Charles D. and Margaret L. (Denecke) Street. He attended North High School.
Tom owned and operated SEMCO which was formed to help quadriplegics live a better life with the quadjoy computer adaptive mouse. In 1986, he moved to Florida and operated Street Electric in Mulberry, FL, returning to Sheboygan in 1993. Prior to moving to Florida, he had worked at Vinyl Plastics Co. in Sheboygan Falls.
Tom is survived by his mother, Margaret of Cleveland; brother and sister-in-law, William and Debra Street of Kiel; a niece and two nephews, Crystal, William and Michael Street; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave., at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, with Guy Marshall of The Sheboygan Church of Christ officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home, on Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
A memorial fund will be established in his name.

Ruth Martha (Schwaller) Wagner
April 24, 1913 to June 2, 2001
88 years old
Ruth Wagner, of 2525 N. 10th Street, Sheboygan, passed away on June 2, 2001, after a two-year battle with cancer. Ruth was the daughter of the late Andrew and Martha (Manthey) Schwaller. She attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School and also graduated from Sheboygan Business College with the Class of 1929-30.
Ruth was married to Marvin H. Wagner on September 28, 1935. Marvin preceded her in death in 1968. A brother, Roland Schwaller, also preceded her in death.
Ruth was employed for 14 years as an office employee at Enzo Jel Company and also as a part time employee at Katherine-K. She devoted 18 years of her retirement to the foster grandparent program of the Sheboygan School System from July of 1978 to November of 1998. She was also a member of St. Anne's Christian Mothers of Holy Name of Jesus Church.
Ruth is survived by two children, Robert J. (Judy) Wagner and Susan R. Haas (fiancee' Kenneth Brulla); five grandchildren, Mary (James) Gordon, Roberta (Scott) Post, Carla Heimerman (fiancee' Jeff Kohlhagen), Donovan Haas, and Julie (Mark) Williams; six great-grandchildren, Joshua Gordon, Samantha Gordon, Jessica Heimerman, Michael Heimerman, Corbin Post, and Sara Ruth Williams; three sister-in-laws, Valva Schwaller, Joyce Konkel, and Alice Wagner. She is also survived by Larry (Nancy) Haas, and many special cousins, relatives, friends, and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 4, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 807 Superior Ave. The Rev. James E. Connell will celebrate the Mass. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Evangeline E. Winkel
Evangeline E. Winkel, 82, of 1231 Eisner Ave., formerly of 124 S. Grant Street, Howard's Grove, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2001, at her residence.
Born September 28, 1918, in Sheboygan, Evangeline was a daughter of the late Fred and Geralda Linder Horn. She attended Sheboygan County Schools. On September 1, 1956, she was united in marriage to Hubert Winkel at Faith United Church of Christ, Town of Sheboygan. She loved to play cards and put together puzzles.
She was a member of Our Shepherd United Church of Christ in Howard's Grove.
Evangeline is survived by two nieces, Janelle (Ron) Gooding, Sheboygan, and Barbara Grunewald; two nephews, Edwin Winkel and Tommy Winkel; a brother-in-law, Carl Franz, Sheboygan; a sister-in-law, Harriet Winkel, Sheboygan and many friends. Besides her husband, Hubert, she was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Franz.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. The Rev. Mark Jaberg, pastor Our Shepherd United Church of Christ, Howard's Grove, will officiate. Relatives and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for Our Shepherd UCC Church.

Harvey A. Wunsch
Harvey A. Wunsch, 85, of N9220 Cty LS, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home where he had been a resident for the past year.
Born May 4, 1916, in Sheboygan, Harvey was a son of the late Hugo E. and Ella Vogel Wunsch. He graduated from Central High School in 1935 and the U.W. Agriculture Short Course in 1938. On July 20, 1940, he was united in marriage to Doris H. Reische at St. John's Ev. & Reformed Church. Doris and Harvey farmed in the Town of Mosel for their entire life. The couple were married for 59 years before Doris preceded him in death on February 24, 2000.
Harvey was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church, Haven, WI. He was a charter member of the Sheboygan County Farm Bureau, a past member of the Grace Lutheran Church Council, a past member of the School Board of the Town of Mosel, a member of the Sheboygan County Historical Society, the 4-H Alumni Association, the Holstein Association, the Lakeshore Farm Management Association, and a past president of the Wisconsin Hatcheries Association.
Harvey is survived by his three children, Barbara (Karl) Kaeppler, Howard's Grove, WI, Dianne (Dr. Alfred) Ferris, Tampa, FL, Warren (Joan) Wunsch, Haven; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents and wife Doris, Harvey was preceded in death by his brother, Leslie, and his grandson, Mark.
Funeral services for Harvey will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Grace Lutheran Church, W1264 Cty FF, Haven, WI, with the Rev. Ronald D. Pederson, officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome at the Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave., on Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the CHURCH from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
