Frances Head

Head, Frances Vann, 86, a resident of Prattville, AL, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 13, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., from Prattville Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Randy Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial directing. Mrs. Head was a native of Crenshaw county, a long time member of Prattmont Baptist Church, and a devoted wife to the late Rufus Head, who passed away on September 2, 2000. She is survived by two sons, James (Pat) Head, Perry, FL, and George (Anne) Head, Prattville, AL; one daughter Ginger (Tom) McMichael, Prattville, AL; four grandchildren Michael (Kathy) Head, Warren (Connie) Head, Deron (Kate) McMichael, and Christy (Grant) McMichael LaFollette; seven great-grandchildren, Mallorie Head, Ashlie Head, Kyle Head, Sarah Head, Andrew Head, Will LaFollette, and Mason LaFollette; one sister-in-law, Ruby Bundrick; one brother-in-law, George Carroll (Patsy) Head. Pallbearers will be Michael Head, Warren Head, Deron McMichael, Grant LaFollette, Dempsey Pollard, and Billy Pollard. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Worrell and the Deacons of Prattmont Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Prattmont Baptist Church, 814 Smith Ave., Prattville, AL, 30666.

Alice Mae Gray

GRAY, Alice Mae Carter, 77, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully at home on Monday, July 3, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Dr. Buddy Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Gray was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, James Edward Gray; three daughters, Linda Dennis, Joan Smith and Paula (Arnie) Fast; two sons, Buddy (Tricia) Gray and Butch Gray; nine grandchildren, Stacey (Tab) Bruce, Shannon Dennis, Ashley (Clint) Smith, Heather (David) Stojak, Michael Gray, Andrew Gray, Emily Gray, Landon Gray, and Austin Gray; and two great-grandchildren, Tayler Bruce and Avery Bruce. A special thank you to Mrs. Melissa Little, Baptist Hospice, for her loving care; her dearest friend, Nancy Jinright; all her special friends in the neighborhood, and to Joe Hooks, special friend of the family. Pallbearers will be Tab Bruce, Jimmy Clemmons, Darron Gray, Joe Hooks, Frank Simersky, and Clint Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Leigh Galbraith, Mack Gray, Duane Gray, Donald Jinright, Jim McLeod, Clarence Seamon, and Kenny Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Baptist Hospice, c/o Baptist Health Care Foundation, 301 Interstate Park Drive, Montgomery, AL 36109.

Vivian Stanford Hallman

Vivian Stanford Hallman passed away peacefully Monday, February 5, 2007, surrounded by her family at Prattville Baptist Hospital. She was born February 10, 1916, in Clay County, Alabama to Aaron Jefferson and Olie Lee Sparks Stanford. She has lived most of her adult life in Autauga County, AL. She taught English and social studies at Hicks Memorial High School and served as the school librarian. She retired in 1976 after teaching for twenty-six years. She graduated from Montevallo College and received a master’s degree from the University of Texas. She was a member of the Autaugaville Baptist Church and taught Sunday school there until ill health prevented her from continuing. She was the last surviving charter member of the Beta Zeta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.
She is survived by her husband, William Thurman Hallman of Autaugaville. They were married on June 1, 1939. She is survived by three children, Paul Hallman of Millbrook, Jane McGill and her husband Kevin, of Chula Vista, CA and Patricia Wheat and her husband John of Northport, AL. Her son William Stanford Hallman preceded her in death. His wife Sarah Wyatt Hallman survives and has a special place in the family. She and her son Stan took exceptional care of Vivian during her last years.
Surviving her are eleven grandchildren, Emily Wheat Butt, Holly Hallman, Scotty Hallman, Stan Hallman, Tony Hallman, Brian McGill, Misty Hallman Sheffield, Maureen McGill Sklaroff, Tammy Hallman Starnes, David Wheat and Jeremy Wheat. Also, there are ten great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of Prattville Baptist Hospital and the Baptist Hospice for the in compassionate care during her last days.
Visitation will be one-hour before the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Services will be held at Autaugaville Baptist Church on February 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., with Reverends Gardner Clark, Paul McNeese, and Chaplin Robert Sandifer officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Hill Cemetery with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Pallbearers will be Scotty Hallman, Stan Hallman, Tony Hallman, Peyton Langford, David Wheat, and Jeremy Wheat.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Auburn University Foundation, William Hallman Scholarship Endowment, c/o Auburn Alumni Center, 317 South College Street, Auburn, AL 36849-5153 or to the Baptist Hospice, 301 Interstate Park Drive, Montgomery, AL 36109.

John Flavell

FLAVELL, John Richard, 74, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Monday, December 5, 2005, at a local health care facility. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Father Philip McKenna, will be held on Friday, December 8, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., from St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Flavell honorably served his country as a Veteran of the United States Air Force and later retired as a Producer and Director at the Air University Television Center at Maxwell Air Force Base after 39 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Flavell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jimmie Gayle Flavell, Prattville, AL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Ben Green, Montgomery, AL, Angela and Tom Hall, Snowdoun, AL; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Paula Flavell, Prattville, AL; six grandchildren, Amber Arsenault, Catherine Flavell, Kyle Green, Melissa Flavell, Samantha Hall, and Patricia Flavell; one sister, Mary Hawthorne, ME; and two brothers, Gerald Flavell, MA, and David (Jeanine) Flavell, MD. The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church one hour prior to his service from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.

Billy Holliday

HOLLIDAY, Reverend Billy Lamar, 63, died peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2004, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at 3:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Joe Garner and Reverend Mike Keehn officiating. Reverend Holliday served his country as a member of the United States Naval Reserves and served the Lord as an inspired evangelist and Pastor of Greenwood Independent Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Holliday, and grandson, Benjamin Holliday. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Sharon Holliday; two sons, James Holliday, and Terry (Wendy) Holliday; 12 grandchildren, Farian Holliday, Cory McCrory, Jacob Holliday, Justin Holliday, Amber Holliday, Alex Holliday, Terry “T.J.” Holliday, Jr., William Holliday, Haley Holliday, Michael Holliday, Lena Payne, and Kimberly Pace; three sisters, Betty (Tex) Huett Young, Evelyn (James) Wolfson, and Fay Carey; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. On Tuesday afternoon, following the service, all are invited for food and fellowship at Greenwood Independent Baptist Church, Highway 82, Prattville, AL.

Lucille Hollon

HOLLON, Lucille Dora Cook, 71, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2005, at a Montgomery hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., from Boone’s Chapel, with Reverend Rodney Culpepper, Reverend Winston Brooks, and Reverend Mike Truell officiating. Burial will follow in Boone’s Chapel Cemetery, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Hollon was the Assistant to the Director of Health Services with the Alabama State Department of Health and retired after 27 years service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Cook. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Ardith “Art” Hollon, and one son, Craig Hollon, both of Prattville, AL. Pallbearers will be Gene Hollon, Larry Roy, Whit Oates, Terry Cook, Cliff Clark, and Thad Straughn. The body of Mrs. Hollon will lie-in-state at Boone’s Chapel on Tuesday afternoon one hour prior to her service.

S. B. "Jake" Jones

Jones, S. B. “Jake,” 81, a resident of Prattville, AL, died on Saturday, April 15, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Ray Cureton and Speaker Claude Norris officiating. Burial will follow, with full military honors, in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Jones honorably served his country for 28 years in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force during World War II, the Korean War, and the Battle of Midway. He retired in 1971. He also retired from the United Postal Service with sixteen years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Prattville, and a member of the Autauga County Shriners Club. He is survived by his beloved spouse of 55 years, Mary Osie Jones, Prattville, AL; one sister, Nancy Rosser, Bessemer, AL; two brothers, Clay (Helen) Jones, Hueytown, AL, and Jesse Jones, Bessemer, AL; three nephews, Robert Clay (Robin) Jones, Daniel Jones, David Jones; and a very special sister-in-law, Vera Cain, Prattville, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be United States Air Force Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be the Cavnar Bible Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 211 South Chestnut St., Prattville, AL 36067.

Lawrence Alexander Kelly

Kelly, Lawrence Alexander “Buck”, 101, a resident of Prattville, AL, formerly of Titus, AL, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., from the First Baptist Church, with Dr. Travis Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. In 1928, L.A. Kelly opened up his general merchandise store in Titus, AL, and operated for 49 years. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly retired from the store in 1983, and moved from Titus, AL to Prattville, AL. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Audrey Harry Kelly. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Nina Faye (Gene) Dekich, Birmingham, AL, Annette (Tommy) Ray, Prattville, AL, and Ruth (Angelo) Sarris, Birmingham, AL; one son and daughter-in-law, Alex (Nancy) Kelly, San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Kelly, Wetumpka, AL. Pallbearers will be Lewis Mills, David Mills, Craig Sanford, Kelly Sanford, Dr. Steve Dekich, and Larry Hughen. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
