Tyla R. Hodges

Tyla Robert (T. R.) Hodges has finally completed his mission here on earth that the Good Lord laid out for him. His wife, Anna L., left to be with the Lord seven years ago and he asked the Lord everyday since then to let him move on.
On Jan. 25, 2007, in the early morning at his home he said farewell. He had endured more than his fair share of physical pain during his 81 years here.
This all started on July 18, 1925, in Dallas, Texas. He was the third child of Otis and Charlotte Hodges. He outlived all of his immediate family, parents, Otis and Charlotte Hodges, one sister, Juanita (Hodges) Clayborn, one brother, Frances V. Hodges, but there was two of them he surely wished he hadn't of and that would be his wife of 56 wonderful wild years, Anna L (Collins), and his first born son, Ronald Gene Hodges. He said he only had two bad days in his 81 years and that was when he had to bury them.
He left three sons, Terry R. Hodges, Kelly W. Hodges and his wife, Naomi, Randy G. Hodges and his wife, Jacquie, all of Johnson County, 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was a driller in Southwest Texas for the biggest part of his young life, then retired to farming and raising four boys on 40 acres of mountain top in Newton County. There was just "one" thing during his 81 years that he couldn't do and that was to carry on without his loving wife, but now he is whole once more.
He will be laid to rest with his loving wife's ashes beside their son, Ronnie, on the Little Buffalo at Jasper, AR.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his 81 awesome years and it will be held at Spadra Park Pavilion, 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007.
