KOCH, Martha B., age 86, of Tucson, passed away June 17, 1997. She is survived by daughters, Jeanette (Edmund) Barnoski, Lorraine Worthy and Eleanor (Kenneth) Wood; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore 'Ted' Koch and son-in-law, Robert Worthy. Mrs. Koch was a member of the Quilt Circle at Lutheran Church of the Ascension. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (at Magee), from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 1997, with Services beginning at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Rick Mensing of Lutheran Church of the Ascension will be officiating. Burial and Services will also be held at Windridge Cemetery, Cary, Illinois. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of your choice.

Alberto G. Montano passed away on June 19, 1997. He is survived by Alicia, his beloved wife of 51 years; sons, Henry, Alberto (George) and Michael Montano; daughters, Maria A. Black, Vikki Castro, Graciela Encinas and Nora Morris; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jose, Enrique and Manuel Montano; sisters, Josefina Montano, Consuelo Mariscal, Maria Jesus Machado and Ester Montano. Preceded in death by parents, Alberto and Ramona; brothers, Eliazar and Ysidro and two children, Alberto Jr. and Josefina. Alberto was a very active and well respected member of the community since 1946. He always advocated doing service for others. Thru his daily example he instilled the importance of love, respect and family unity. Visitation will be held on June 22, Sunday, 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will beoffered on Monday, June 23, 10:00 a.m., St. John the Evangelist Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Interment following Mass at Holy Hope Cemetery.

NIEDERBRACH, Olive, 72 years old, passed away June 14, 1997 after a long battle with cancer. Preceded in death by her parents, Lacy and Elizabeth Chandler and her husband, Lt. Col. Kenneth Niederbrach. Survived by sister, Geneva Hart of Decatur, IL and son, Kenneth Scott Niederbrach and daughter, Jennifer Jane Niederbrach, both of Tucson. Olive’s family wishes to thank the TMC Hospice Staff for their loving care and support. Their will be no Funeral. Friends may visit the family Sunday, June 22 from 2:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon at the home of the daughter, Jennifer. Call 298-8454 for directions. In lieu of flowers, Olive’s favorite charity was the Humane Society.

VIRDEN, Dorothy S., 91, died June 19, 1997. Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Virden and son, Thomas. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Kay Savage of Tucson; granddaughter, Cathy Duncan and grandson, Chris Virden. She leaves four great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Lisa and Scott Duncan of Gilbert, AZ and Casey Virden of Tucson. As was their wish, the cremains of Dorothy and James will be buried together in Columbus, IN with Graveside Services on July 6. 1997. The family is very grateful for the care provided by the staff of 'Our Place' Adult Care Home, where Dorothy had resided since November, 1994. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

ABRIL, Rudy P., born April 20, 1947, passed away June 16, 1997. Survived by brother, Richard Abril (Nellie); sisters, Julia Gamboa (Peter) and Beatrice Miranda; many nieces and nephews. Mass and Rosary at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Graveside Services to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.

COLLIER, Charlesetta D., 74, died June 19, 1997. Mother of Martin (Valerie) Collier of California; sister of Lillian Darwin of Tucson; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral Service 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 1997 at Ft. Lowell Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, 6150 E. Fairmount, with Bishop Chris Monson conducting. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 21 at the Church. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

DENT, Dorothy Y. (Scott), R.N., 59, born February 18, 1938, in Tucson, at the Stork’s Nest, died suddenly June 15, 1997, in Glendale, California. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Dent and brother Joseph F. Scott. Survivors include her daughters, Michele Aguilar (Evan), and Cynthia Dent of Glendale; sisters, Bonnie Scott of North Hollywood, and Shirley Pickering (Gilbert) of Tucson; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn in Glendale.

MASON, Joseph Rocco, passed away June 12, 1997 after a lingering illness. He was born February 27, 1928 in New York City. Survived by wife, Jane; two daughters, Victoria Mason of Kailua, HI and Marianne (David) Siedsma of Costa Mesa, CA and several grandchildren. There will be no Funeral Services. Any contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity. Arrangements by Hudgel’s SWAN FUNERAL HOME.

SANDBERG, Rae, 75, died June 18, 1997. Survived by sons, Ray of Vacaville, CA, Rex of Boise, ID; sisters, Pauline Trump of Bountiful, UT, Hazel Grow of Sparks, NV; brother, Ashby Sinfield of Lund, NV; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Memorial Services, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 1997 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints Pantano Ward, 700 N. Bonanza Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be sent in her name to Hospice Family Care, 3838 N. Campbell, Tucson, AZ 85719 or Shriners Children’s Hospital.

SURINA, John, died June 9, 1997, he was predeceased by wife of 57 years, Mildred Eve who passed away November 1996. Born in Bellwood, IL, June 15, 1915, he was reared in the Chicago area until moving to Tucson in 1955. He was a machinist by trade for most of his life. Always an ardent sports fan, Mr. Surina played high school and semi-pro football and boxed both as an amateur and professional. In 1935, he won the Golden Gloves Championship for boxing as a light heavy weight for the greater Chicago area. Mr. Surina is survived by four children, Sharon (Bob) McCusker, Marilyn Surina and John Surina of Tucson and Janice (Mike) Cise of Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren, Robert (Lisa) McCusker, Sharon (Michael) Hollingsworth, David Cise, Linda Cise, John Surina and two great-granddaughters, Erin and Megan McCusker. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, June 24 at 7:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be said at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Burial following at Holy Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. WASLEY, Joanne 'Mickey', age 68, of Tucson, born in New York, NY, passed away Thursday, June 19, 1997. She was a graduate of Bennington College in Bennington, VT and earned her Nursing degree and Masters from the University of Arizona. She worked as a registered nurse in Tucson for many years. Mickey was a library and Beacon Foundation volunteer. She was an avid tennis and bridge player, world traveler, explorer, loving mother and friend. She is survived by seven children, Jane (Edwin) Wasley, Mike (Donna) Wasley, Bill (Julie) Wasley, Tracy (William) Dowd, Judy (Mark) Sellars, Anne (Reggie) Aldrich and John (Cinnamon) Wasley. The family wishes to invite all her friends to a celebration of Mickey’s life at McCormick Park, 2900 N. Columbus on Sunday, June 22, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. for a pot luck breakfast picnic. CROUCH, Shawna Rhae DeCharo, of Georgetown, SC, died June 14, 1997.Shawna was born in Bree, Belgium on September 3, 1979. She was manager of the Palo Verde High School Girls Basketball team. She was involved with the Palo Verde High School Newspaper. She was a coach of the Davis-Monthan AFB Piranhas Youth Swim Team. In 1995 to 1996, she was a member of Who’s Who of America High School Students. She was a member of Hahn AB Sea Hawks swim team in 1990 to 1993. She was also a member of Young America Bowling Alliance in 1984 to 1995. She is survived by her father, Randy R. Crouch; mother, Bobbie J. Crouch; biological mother, Beth O’Toole; sisters, Annette (Henry D.) Sanders, Lisa Adams, Stacy (Kyle) Curry, Heather O’Toole; brothers, Steve (Jennifer) Rommerskirchen, David O’Toole; grandmothers, Bea Crouch, Gloria Santangelo, Joyce Caray and grandfather, Melvin Osburn; niece, Keely Curry. DEMERITT, Donald A., born January 3, 1958 in Patterson, New Jersey, married 'J' Jaleen Rosenberg-DeMeritt on May 29, 1988, moved to Tucson, Arizona July 88. Don’s sense of humor and wit carried him through life along with those who were fortunate enough to know him well. We are grateful for the 39 years he shared with us and only wished we’d had more. His humor sustained those of us who loved him through the most difficult times. Survived by his wife, 'J' (Jaleen); son, Arron; mother and stepfather, Marge & Bob Sisco; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl Rhinesmith and George; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Tammy DeMeritt and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by father, Donald G. DeMeritt. Viewing Saturday, June 21, 10:00 a.m. Services 11:00 at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, 8090 N. William L. Hatch, 71, died Tuesday, June 17, 1997. Survived by wife, Edwina; sister, Holly Sheahan; daughter, Kim; son, Bart; nieces, Sarah Hager, Helen Shiel, Amy Cook and nephew, William Sheahan. He earned a Bachelors degree from Loyola University in Chicago and a Masters degree at the University of Arizona. Mr. Hatch retired from the VA Hospital as Coordinator of the Alcohol Treatment Unit. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and faithful dog, Harvey. Mass will be offered Friday June 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the Newman Center on the U of A campus, 1615 E. 2nd St. at the corner of Cherry St. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Humane Society of Tucson.

Polly Langevin Margadonna, 72, died June 14, 1997, after a long illness. Survived by son, Brian W. Margadonna of Marlboro, MA; three grandsons. Beloved sister of Elaine Borgwald of Tucson and George Langevin of Danville, IL. She will be buried in Massachusetts. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Cabrini on June 30 at 8:00 a.m.
