Dora Maggard, the daughter of John W. Nelson and Barbara Ellen (Applegate) Nelson, was born.
Dora was a resident of the Eastern Gate community for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Gate Church. She loved crocheting, planting flowers and gardening.
Dora was preceded in Interment will be in the Hall born March 10, 1975, in Buffalo, and departed this life on Feb. 15, 2007, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.
Hope is survived by her mother and step-father Martha and Don Massey of Mountain Grove; her father Keith Cox of Utah; three brothers Gary Cox, Mark Cox and wife Becky, Micha Cox and wife Bailey all of Ava; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Hope was preceded in Cemetery, Seymour. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until service time in the funeral home.
Hazel Gaddis, 91

Hazel Gaddis, daughter of Robert B. West and Mary Elizabeth Weathered West, was born.
Hazel was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Ava. She enjoyed quilting and watching any kind of sports on TV. When young, she loved to play baseball with her brothers and especially "burnout." As she had written in a family booklet, "her special times were having her children as being the best times of her life and trying to teach them right from wrong and seeing them give her grand- and great-grandchildren." Hazel loved her church and Sunday school class, and her special pastor, Tom Maples and his family. In her last few years Hazel enjoyed living in the Ozarks where she loved watching the birds and other wildlife from her window.
Hazel was preceded in Cemetery, Pueblo, Colo., with the Rev. Doug Cox officiating and conducted by Romero Family Funeral Home, Pueblo, Colo. The family requests memorials to Gideons International or First Southern Baptist Missions, P.O. Box 306, Ava, MO 65608. Local arrangements are by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
John Kenneth Johnson, 60

John Kenneth Johnson death by his parents.
Kenneth is survived by a brother, Vernon Johnson and wife, Brenda, of Ava; and one son, Bryan, of Springfield. He is also survived by one niece, Tina and husband, Gordon Simmons, of Ava, and one nephew, Wes Johnson and wife, Ronda, of Republic; and a very special friend, Dina Brazeal; as well as a host of other friends and relatives.
Ava Family Funeral Home hosted visitation Monday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted at Ava Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, at 10 a.m., with burial following in Mt. Tabor born March 16, 1937, in Midway, Mo. He departed this life Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, in St. John's Regional Health Center, in Springfield, at the age of 69.
On Aug. 30, 1980, he was united in marriage to Christine Diane Eagles and together they have spent the last 26 years.
He was preceded in born and raised in the Ava and Mansfield area. In 1955 he entered the United States Army where he faithfully served his country. He owned and operated Midwest Insulation in Mansfield and retired in 1989.
Wayne had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Seymour Nazarene Church.
He was a member the VFW Post #1502 in Webster County, as well as a life member of the American Legion Post #676 in Springfield. In his spare time he enjoyed coin collecting and fishing.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the Seymour Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Mark Terrill officiating. Burial, with full military honors, was in the Basher Cemetery east of Ava near Sweden, Mo., under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains.
Mr. Pettyjohn born June 20, 1927, in Sweden, Mo., to Archie Horace and Rutha Mae Plumb Pettyjohn.
He enjoyed antique cars, his pets and loved his family. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his son, Gary Pettyjohn, Moody; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Pettyjohn and wife, Lola, Linsday, Calif., and Bill Pettyjohn, Port Byron, Ill.; three sisters, Geneva Stevenson, West Plains, Audra Ralfs, Moody, and Phyllis Hamby and husband, Ronald, Caulfield; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents and one niece preceded him in Cemetery and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains.
Everett William Lawrence, 83

Everett William "Bill" Lawrence, 83, Oldfield, born May 18, 1923, in Douglas County near the Merritt community, the son of Lloyd and Maggie (Williams) Lawrence. On Aug. 25, 1939, he was united in marriage to Elma Adams and to this union four children were death by his parents; the mother of his children, Elma Lawrence; two brothers, Johnny and Edgar Lawrence; and a great-grandson, Zephan Lawrence.
Everett is survived by his wife, Barbara; his four children, Martha Stillings-Booth, of Ava, Kathy Tate, Tucson, Arizona, Lloyd Lawrence and wife, Sue, of Lindale, Texas, and Linda Jean Chapman and husband, Danny, of Sparta, Tenn.; one adopted daughter, Mindy Snodgrass, of Florida; seven stepchildren, Micky Millstead, Gary Millstead, Debbie Arnn, Cathy Sanders, Bob Felty, Sally Felty and Russell Yates; one sister, Mary Lee Johnson, of Maysville; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many caring friends.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, in West Huffman Cemetery, Ava, under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with the Rev. Mark Hatcher officiating.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark.
