Ruby Fay Lockhart, daughter of John Washington and Frances Jane Taylor Silvey, was born. She was preceded in born and raised in the Seymour area, and graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1940. After she and Walter were Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m., Thursday, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 366, Seymour, MO 65746.

Sidney O. Newton, 91

Sidney O. Newton, 91, of Boise Cemetery.

He was married Myrtle Marie Farris, the most beautiful girl he has ever known. That marriage lasted 68 years.

They moved to Vale, Oreg. for three years, then to Homedale, Idaho, where Sid was manager of the Morfitt Store for ten years. He was very active in community affairs, serving as president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of Homedale Kiwanis Club, and lieutenant governor in the Utah-Idaho Kiwanis.

Ten years later Sid, Myrtle, son Joe and daughter Karla moved to Boise, where he was co-owner of Boise Avenue Market. Eleven years later Sid and Myrtle moved to Sunnymead, Calif., where they owned the Sunnymead Variety Store, then back to Boise, where he worked for Drake Plumbing Co. until his retirement at age 69. Sid enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, hiking and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; son, Joe A. Newton; granddaughter, Karin Yoder; great-granddaughters, Amanda and Emily Yoder; and sisters, Jewell Johnson and Reba Ross; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in born March 21, 1913, in Rippee, Mo., and death by his parents; his wife on Feb. 14, 1997; three brothers, Charles, Vasel and Vivien Brown; and two sisters, Celeste Tucker and Maxine Holmes. Survivors include two children, Sally Taylor and husband, Stephen, of Springfield, and Dave Brown and wife, Cathy, of Salem; seven grandchildren, Jeff Taylor and wife, Lori, of Morris, Okla., Jacinda Roberts and husband, Jim, of Wichita, Kan., Jason Taylor, Fresno, Calif., David Lyle Brown, Salem, Sean Brown, Columbia, Dawn Pharr and husband, Ryan, Jefferson City, and Melissa Fleener and husband, J.T., of Salem; eight great-grandchildren, Curtis Taylor, Chase Howard, Dalton Howard, Dalton Brown, Zettye Brown, Allie Fleener, Blaine Fleener and Carlie Fleener; and a host of nieces and nephews. Lyle enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral services for Lyle Brown were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at James & Gahr Chapel, Salem, with Russ Davidson officiating. Cemetery with all arrangements under the direction of James & Gahr Mortuary.

Claire Rifenberg Ehrhardt, 79

Claire Rifenberg Ehrhardt departed this life on July 10, 2005, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo.

She was married at Ypsilanti, Michigan. They moved to the farm near Squires in 1954.

Mrs. Ehrhardt was a member of the Ava United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, dedicated to community volunteer work.

Mr. Ehrhardt survives; as do two sons, Bill and Phyllis Ehrhardt, of Squires, and Ron Ehrhardt, of Ava; two daughters, Joyce and Larry Visnick, of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Judy and Randy Wray, of Thornfield; also surviving are three grandchildren, Kathy Osiel, of Seymour, Anne Visnick, of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Shay Ehrhardt, of Kennett, Mo.; one great-grandchild, Cody Osiel, of Seymour; a brother, Milo Rifenberg, of Frankford, West Virginia; a sister, Rita Rifenberg, of Kalamazoo, Michigan; other relatives and many, many friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, at the Ava United Methodist Church, under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Greg Dowler officiating. Burial followed in the Ava born Aug. 24, 1942, in Seymour, Mo. He departed this life Thursday, July 7, 2005, in Glenwood Healthcare, in Seymour, at the age of 62 years.

His father preceded him in born and raised in the Seymour community and graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1960. He served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps from Feb. of 1961 until May of 1964. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, he made his home in Wichita, Kans., where he worked for Boeing Aircraft for about two years. He then returned to Southwest Missouri, and the Seymour area.

Richard made his profession of faith and was saved on Oct. 11, 1958, near Seymour, and was baptized in Nov. of 1958.

In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and gardening. He also loved working on lawn mowers and buying, trading and selling them. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

Richard was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and nephew, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.

Services were held Sunday, July 10, at 2:30 p.m. in the Seymour First Baptist Church with Reverends Gordon Heckendorn and Mitchell Wright officiating. Burial with full military honors by Webster County Veterans Memorial Association were in Seymour Masonic born April 18, 1915 in McClurg, and departed this life July 11, 2005, at the age of 90.

Erma was a life long resident of Brown Branch.

On Sept. 25, 1937 Erma and Orville H. Siler were united in marriage at Ava. Erma was a housewife and worked on the farm and milked with her husband, Orville. She was a member of the Caney General Baptist Church at Brown Branch. Erma loved gardening, growing flowers, her church, family and friends.

Erma was preceded in Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.

Will H. Havens, 94

Will H. Havens the son of Ray Havens and Mary E. (Tooley) Havens was born. Will and Clara enjoyed 68 years together.

Will was a lifelong resident of the Ava area. He was a minister of the Gospel since 1930 and a member of the Ava General Baptist Church. Will’s motto was ‘Keep on Keeping On.’ He encouraged people with spoken words, written poems and devotions. Many people have had the privilege of having some of his poem books.

None of Will’s earthly accomplishments could compare with his desire to daily live a faithful Christian life. His family is blessed and thankful to have had his example of spiritual wisdom. They will miss him greatly but will have wonderful memories of his faithfulness and love.

Will was preceded in Interment followed in the Thornfield Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.

Memorials can be made to the Gideons International.
