Carmon Childress, 93, born Jan. 4, 1912, near Superior, Neb., to Orval and Edyth Childress. As a young man he attended high school and three years of college in Ft. Collins, Colo. He was contracted by the government for work in Hawaii and Midway Island. He later served his country in World War II. During that time he death of his wife he moved back to Lebanon to be closer to family.
Mr. Childress was preceded in death was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lebanon.
Graveside services for Mr. Childress were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Ava died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at St. Anthony Hospital in Thornton. She was 73 years old.
She was married Wando G. Farris on June 9, 1961, in Ava, Mo.
In 1962, the Farrises came to Leadville, where Wando Farris went to work for the Climax Molybdenum Mine.
Together the couple had three children and Betty Farris spent the rest of her life making her famly her priority. She loved cooking and baking for them, and her wonderful fudge soon became legend. People would buy the ingredients and bring them over for Betty to work her magic. Visitors to the Farris home would walk in and ask, "Is there any fudge left?"
After raising her family, Betty went to work for the Delaware Hotel, where she worked for many years.
She was a sweet and gentle lady, who will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in died on Nov. 3, 2004, and five siblings, sisters, Celo Self and Ruby Lockhart, and brothers, Buck, Aaron and Leonard Silvey.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Diane Farris, in Thornton; and sons, Steve Farris in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Darin Farris, in Georgetown; three grandchildren, Jodi, Aaron and Zoe Farris; one sister, Leona Comer, in Ava; and her aunt, Opha Denney, in Springfield, Mo.
A private family Cemetery on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005.
Arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home.
Miriam L. Rasch, 64

Miriam Lee Rasch, 64, Ava, born Nov. 28, 1941, in Memphis, Tenn., the daughter of Charles Raymond and Doris Elizabeth (Gammon) Cates. On Dec. 9, 1961, she was united in marriage to James Donald Rasch.
Miriam’s life was characterized by compassion, sensitivity, love and a caring and giving spirit. She was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, and a faithful Christian. Her church membership was in Rugby Hills Baptist Church of Memphis, Tenn., but she presently attended Goodhope General Baptist Church of Ava. Miriam also enjoyed cooking, family time and traveling.
She was preceded in Cemetery.
Alta Snearley, 80

Alta Snearley, the daughter of Otis Herd and Eva Mae (Vanmeter) Herd, was born. On May 3, 1952, Alta and Warren W. Snearley were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark., Mr. Snearley preceded Alta in death by her parents; one brother, Troy Herd; one sister, Freda Cockrum; and one sister-in-law, Linda Herd.
Alta is survived by a son, Kenneth and wife, Janet Denton, Ozark; a daughter, Deloris and husband, Robert Hammons, Oldfield; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Leslie Herd, Marionville; one sister, Leta and husband, Bill Tabor, St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Herd, Beulah, Colo.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Howard Kenyon officiating. Cemetery south of Ava. Visitation was Monday, from 1 p.m. until service time.

Esther Lee Shelton Bradbury, 91, born Oct. 27, 1914, in Ava, and moved to Phoenix in the 1930s.

Ethel Pearl Frye, 71

Ethel Pearl Frye, 71, of Milan, Ill., Cemetery, Rock Island.
Ethel was married Herman Frye, Jr. in 1964 in Rock Island.
She was a waitress at the former Bringer Inn, Milan, Ill., for many years. Prior to this she worked in food service for the former Milan Grade School. Ethel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ava where she and Herman lived for many years.
She enjoyed gardening, fishing and making crafts. She participated in the annual M.I.P. Craft Sale in Milan. She loved being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Herman; a son, David Rouse, Moline, Ill.; grandchildren, Tera Elliott, Silvis, Ill., and Brent Rouse, Erie, Ill.; seven great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Cheryl McLaughlin, Hampton, Ill.; sisters, Beulah Buckwalter, Milan, Ill., Dorothy Bush, Hannibal, Mo., Doris Walters, Memphis, Tenn. and Viola Coder, Lake Placid, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
