MSGT. (Ret.) Johnny L. Pruett was born on June 21, 1918, in the Dogwood community in Douglas County, the son of Alvah L. and Violet Mae Stafford Pruett. Upon the death by his parents, one infant brother, Paul, and one sister, Mary Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of the home; three brothers, David Pruett, Springfield, Bill Pruett and his wife, Edna, Nixa, and Aaron Pruett and his wife, Bonnie, Seymour; three sisters, Alice McCullough, of Kalispell, Mont., Nadine Barker and Goldie Bryant, both of Seymour; one sister-in-law, Gladys Fulford, Columbus, Ga.; eight nephews; 14 nieces; several great-nephews and nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held in Parkhill died at the age of 74. He was married his fiancée Kathryn Haden and began a life with her on the farm.
They soon felt the call to Chris-tian ministry, so in 1952 Duane and Kathy followed his family back to Washington State where jobs were more plentiful. By the end of the 1950’s, Duane had earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Literature, been made the pastor at the Delridge Chapel Free Methodist Church in West Seattle and become a father with the birth of his daughter Brenda in 1955 and of his son Daniel in 1959.
During this time Duane also worked full time for the Boeing Aircraft Company and began working on his graduate degree. In 1963, however, Duane left the ministry and eventually was divorced -- though he retained contact and friendship with his wife Kathy. Though he had left the ministry, Duane’s drive to help others endured and he found time to serve the community by teaching at the both the high school and community college level.
In 1972 Duane went to help his parents in Eastern Washington. However, he could never really leave the Ozarks behind and during his spare time he worked his 10 acre farm where he milked cows, raised livestock and sold roses and fruit trees. Despite this hobby and a full time job, he found time to vol-unteer with charitable organiza-tions.
After Duane was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease he moved to live near his daughter Brenda in Kalama Washington for the last year of his life.
Duane is survived by his sisters, Shirley King and Nolita Smith; daughter, Brenda (Larson), and son, Daniel; grandchildren, Stephanie, Sean, Benjamin and Grace; and great-grandchil-dren, Paris and Britlese.
In the spring, family members will return his ashes to the Ozarks, for burial at Goodhope passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Mo. Eldon was death by his wife Helen; his parents; and one brother, Wilburn Harper.
He is survived by three sisters, Freda Cole, Pierce City, Mo., Goldie Scott and husband, Bruce, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Joyce Harper of Goodhope; three brothers, Bill Harper, of Goodhope, Wayne Harper and wife, Joyce, of Goodhope, and Don Harper and wife, Marty, of Anamosa, Iowa; a special friend, Barbara Magoon, of Ava; many nieces, nephews and caring friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. in Barnes Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by Ava American Legion Post #112 and V.F.W. Post #5593 will follow in the Ava passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, in the Riverways Manor, VanBuren, Mo. She was death by her parents; a twin sister, Arlena M. Suskey; a sister, Lorene Keeton; and two brothers, Raymond and Vernon Levan.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, in Turkey Creek born Sept. 23, 1975 in Memphis, Tenn., and departed this life Nov. 2, 2005 in Mansfield, at the age of 30.
Eric was a resident of Douglas County since September 2003, moving here from Memphis, Tenn. He was a framing carpenter employed with Penhart Construction Co. Eric loved canoeing and fishing but above all he loved his daughter, Haylee Kaye.
Eric was preceded in Interment followed in the Fannon Cemetery.
Marie Ellen Murphy, 74

Marie Ellen Murphy, 74, of Mansfield, left us to continue her journey on Dec. 2, 2005.
She is survived by her mother, Marie Womack; a daughter, Allison Andujar; grandchildren, Amanda, Nicole, and Crystal; great-granddaughter, Averi Sky; and all of her countless friends, co-workers, animals and children that were touched by her vivacious spirit and insurmountable energy and compassion.
She began her life in Greenbrier, Tenn., where she traveled the county as a child star, was a cheerleader for West End High School in Nashville, Tenn., attended Peabody College, became a model in New York City and Miami, and was a world traveler.
After retiring in the Ozarks she gave 20 years of service as a master foster parent and took pride in her extensive involvement in the Children’s Division which some activities included being a member of the Area 4 Foster Parent Advisory Board, STARS trainer, facilitator for the Independent Living Program, resource coordinator and one of the founders of the Foster Parent Support Group.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Marie Murphy Foundation, P.O. Box 663, Mansfield, MO 65704, so that her work can continue to touch the lives of many more children. A memorial service will be held at Holman-Howe Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m.
Her friends have peace in knowing she will reunite and rejoice with her son, Brian, and grandson, Shaun.
