Grace “Holt” Haden, 93

Grace Holt Haden, daughter of John Franklin Holt and Emma Thompson Holt, was born.
Grace was a member of Springcreek General Baptist Church.
When she was young she loved to fish. In her later years she enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and watching her brother, Bob, play the fiddle. She also enjoyed spending time with and checking up on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially talking with her grandson, Steve, at the end of the day.
Grace was preceded in Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Visitation was held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Memorial contributions can be made to Springcreek Cemetery with the Rev. Noel Scott officiating. Services are under the direction of the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Melvin (Barney) Drapich, 84

Melvin G. Drapich, known to everybody as Barney, 84, Ava, born June 16, 1922, at Holms, Calif., to Samuel and Dolly Drapich.
He attended public school as a youth and was baptized in the Catholic faith. Barney has always been a hard worker starting in his early teens setting pins at the local bowling alley. He joined the Navy during World War II as a mechanic. After the war Barney returned to Eureka, a small timber and fishing community in northern California, and worked in a barrel factory, and then in the lumber industry as a forklift operator for over 30 years before coming to Ava.
On Sept. 4, 1960, he death by his wife, Ruth E.; his parents, Samuel Drapich and Dolly Adams; his brother, Clarence Drapich; and his stepfather, Lewis Adams.
He is survived by two sons, Bob State, of Ava, and James State and wife, Laurine, of Morgan Hills, Calif.; a daughter, Robin Newby and her husband, Glenn, of Eureka, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Corinne State Morrison, Destry Girard, Dr. Caton State, Sylus Girard, Dillon State, Ben Drapich Newby and Weston State; and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Barney are two brothers, Lewis Adams and Sam Drapich, and one sister, Deloris Bastain, all living in California; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Burial was in the Ava passed away Friday, July 7, 2006, at the Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville. She was death by her parents, her husband, Palmer, and one sister. Winifred is survived by one son, Ronnie McKnight, and wife, Charlotte; and one daughter, Phyllis Gregory and husband, Lee. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lisa Stafer and husband, David, Shelly McKnight-Haynes and husband, Matthew, Steven McKnight, and Felisha Ethridge and husband, Steve. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Winifred is also survived by her sister, Zelda Stamper. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 10, at Ava City born June 28, 1926 in Wright County, and departed this life Friday Aug. 4, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 80.
On Oct. 18, 1952, he was united in marriage to Joan Bennett and to this union two daughters were death by his parents, a granddaughter, Miranda, a brother, Gaylen Dedmon, and a sister, Lois Owens.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joan, of the home; two daughters, Tracy Haden, of Ava, and Vickie Ward and her husband, Stacey, of Marshfield; four grandchildren, Timothy Haden, Jennifer Haden, Dustin Ward and Christopher Ward; three brothers, G.A. Dedmon and his wife, Virginia, of Mansfield, Roy Dedmon and his wife, Nelda, of Hartville, and Jack Dedmon and his wife, Francis, of Mansfield; one sister, Kay Patterson, of Marshfield; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of many other relatives and many friends.
Bill was Interment was in Steele Memorial died tragically on Aug. 13 from injuries sustained in a bicycling accident the preceding evening. He was in the company of his brothers, Neel T. and Dale E. Pahl, who both flew in from Denver.
Randy was married to Janet Wait, in Alliance, Neb.
His professional career took him to Medford, Ore., Denver, Colo., Washington state, and finally to Phoenix, Ariz., where he made major contributions in the area of chemistry and computers. Over the years, Randy received numerous achievement awards.
He is survived by his son, Maclaine Aaron Pahl, of Portland, Ore., and daughter, Paige Elise Pahl; his parents, Bonnie B. and Herschel A. Pahl, captain US Navy (ret), of Ava; and his two brothers, Neel T. Pahl and Dale E. Pahl, of Denver, Colo.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Lakeshore Mortuary, Mesa, Ariz., with the Rev. Jim Fountain of the Chandler United Methodist Church presiding.
His family requests donations to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.

Raymond Hughes Jr., the son of Raymond Hughes Sr. and Doris Jeanell (Heddinger) Hughes, was death by his parents.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Cliffy, of the home, Thornfield; eight children, Debbie Robertson, Mtn. Grove, Kim Walker, Ava, Cody Hughes, Hartville, Heidi Hughes, Boston, Mass., Jon Hughes, Branson, Ashley Hughes, Thornfield, Fraley Smith, Shreveport, La., and Patricia Pickering, Boyce, La.; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, Leroy Hughes, Lamar, Robert Hughes and Ron Hughes, both of Nevada, Mo.; and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ava, with Bishop Jerry Brown officiating. Cemetery, Harwood, Mo.
Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
