Helen M. Stafford
Helen M. Stafford, age 77, of Versailles, born December 5, 1927 in Versailles, the daughter of James F. and Grace Marriott Branson. She was united in marriage on February 12, 1945 with Lester “Pete” Stafford, who preceded her in death by an infant daughter, Grace Ann Stafford, and one brother, James F. “Bud” Branson; and two sisters, Mildred Peters and Frances Hayes. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Ramon Wayne Gardner
Ramon Wayne Gardner, age 79, of Sunrise Beach, born March 10, 1926, in Joliet, Illinois, the son of Dorothy Gardner Skeen. He was death on September 30, 2005. Ramon was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and served in the Air Force Reserves. He was a member of the VFW Post in Lebanon and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He is survived by his children Richard Gardner and wife Carol of Oswego, Illinois, Sharon Goldsberry and husband Larry of Montgomery, Illinois, Joye Morrison and husband Pat of Atlanta, Georgia, Brenda Jakious and husband Randall of Naperville, Illinois, Ramon Wayne Gardner and wife Cheryl of Newberg, Oregon, Michael Gardner and wife Millie of Aurora, Illinois, and David Gardner and wife Cynthia stationed in Turkey with the United States Air Force; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services with military honors will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2005, at Garber Memorial Estates in Laurie. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. Memorial contributions are suggested to Windsor Estates in Camdenton. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Hugh William Smiley Jr.
Hugh William Smiley Jr., age 77, of Versailles, born June 17, 1928, on a farm north of Versailles, the son of Hugh W. Sr. and Blanche E. Wahlers Smiley. He was united in marriage on August 27, 1969, to Joan Marie Hilderbrand. The couple resided on a farm west of Versailles breeding registered Shorthorn cattle, and raising hay and row crops. H.W. was a member of the Stover United Methodist Church. During the Korean War, he ran heavy equipment for the United States Army in France. He is survived by his wife, Joan Marie; one son Fredrech Joseph Smiley of Versailles; one brother Milfred S. Smiley and wife Dorothy of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; one sister Louella Byler and husband Joe of Rolla, Missouri; two sisters-in-law Ruth Hilderbrand and Etta Porter both of Versailles; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in interment will be in the Versailles passed away Tuesday morning, November 8, 2005 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty. He was death on June 14, 1995. Mr. Mehl was retired from the Ford Motor Company Claycomo Plant and a member of the United Auto Workers. He was also a member of the Independence Christian Center. He is survived by two sons, Richard Mehl of Liberty, and Norman Mehl of Higginsville; two daughters, Janine Bennett of Versailles, and Marlene Love of Kansas City; one sister, Ruth Martin of Oklahoma City; 18 grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 11, at the Freedom passed away Sunday, November 6, 2005 at her home. She was Cemetery in Tipton, with Rev. Don Evan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Peggy G. McShane
Peggy G. McShane, age 75, of Sunrise Beach, born March 20, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Perry William and Genevieve Edmonds Shrader. She was united in marriage on January 27, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri, with John F. McShane, who survives of the home. Mrs. McShane was a retired clerk for W.T. Grant and a homemaker. She was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. In addition to her husband she is survived by four sons, Michael McShane of Indianapolis, Indiana, Charles McShane of Tampa, Florida, Timothy McShane of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Daniel McShane of Anderson, Indiana; four daughters, Catherine Blackwell and Mary Randolph of Pendleton, Indiana, Patricia Shelton of Sunrise Beach, and Jean Jones of Tampa, Florida; one sister, Patricia Kennard of Kansas City, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Memorial Funeral Mass was held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie, with Father David Buescher officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the St. Patrick Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.
