Patricia P. Miller
Patricia Pearl Miller, 54, died Nov. 26, 2004, in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born Sept. 16, 1950, in Bertrand, Mo., daughter of Cassie (Bowen) Stricklin, who survives and resides in Poplar Bluff, and the late Rayburn Stricklin.
She was united in marriage to Jerry Miller Feb. 24, 1970, in East St. Louis, Ill., and he survives, residing in Ellsinore.
Mrs. Miller had been employed by Brown Shoe Company, Piedmont.
She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by one daughter, Misty Miller, Ellsinore; two sons, Allen (Yvonne) Miller, Poplar Bluff, Nick (Ebby) Miller, Ellsinore; four brothers, Larry, Gary, Rick and Tim Stricklin, all of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Janet Miller, Piedmont, Becky Hampton, Fairdealing, Sheila Barnett, Theresa Battles, both of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Derek, Brittni, Colby and Charlie.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Brad Stricklin.
The funeral was held Nov. 29 at McSpadden Funeral Home Chapel, Ellsinore, with Rev. Milton Gearhart officiating.
Burial was in Carson Hill Cemetery.

Orion L. Holmes
Orion L. Holmes, 84, died Nov. 20, 2004, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born Jan. 3, 1920, in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late Lucien and Ethel (Lewallen) Holmes.
He was united in marriage to Phyllis Imogene Duckett Feb. 2, 1947, and she preceded him in death June 25, 1987.
He married Wilma Meador Nov. 7, 1987, and she survives, residing in Williamsville.
Mr. Holmes was a member of the United Methodist Church of Williamsville, a charter member of the Williamsville Lions Club and chairman of the Williamsville Water Department.
He served on the Greenville R-3 School Board.
After returning from a civilian contract welding position with the U.S. Navy in Hawaii, he purchased from his mother the Holmes Store in Williamsville, which he owned and operated for 37 years before retiring.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, Benjamin Holmes, Springfield, Va.; two sisters, June Shearrer, Hannibal, Mary Riddle, Williamsville; one stepson, Larry (Gerri) Sellars, House Springs; one stepdaughter, Patty (Terry) Thurman, Catawissa; two step-grandchildren, Tracy (Steve) Schall, Tammy (Bob) Orzel; two step great-grandchildren, Carter and Cayden Schall.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Douglas Holmes April 14, 1969, one brother, William L. Holmes Oct. 27, 2004, and one sister, Sybil Nothdurft.
The funeral was held Nov. 23 at the United Methodist Church, Williamsville, with Rev. Kent Wilfong officiating and music by the congregation with Susan Wilfong, organist.
Pallbearers were Roger Shearer, Robert Riddle, Gary Riddle, Charles Riddle Jr., Larry Sellars and Andrew Atchison.
Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Williamsville.
Arrangements were under the direction of Ruegg Funeral Home, Williamsville.

Rona B. Riegler
Rona B. Riegler, 90, died Nov. 24, 2004, at Fountain Blue Nursing Center in Festus, Mo.
She was born Feb. 15, 1914, in Lodi, Mo., daughter of the late Finley and Stella (Mitchell) Davis.
She was united in marriage to Samuel Jesse Reagan, and he preceded her in death.
She married Adolph Riegler, and he also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Riegler had done clerical work for A&P; Grocery.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by one brother, Sharon Davis, Elk River, Idaho; two sisters, Faye Hovis, Festus, Laverne Neelen, Carmichael, Calif.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, Willard, Chester, and Haskel Davis; four sisters, Lena Strahl, Helen Wilson, Bernice and Maxine Davis.
The graveside service was held Nov. 27 at Antioch Cemetery, Lodi, with Rev. Richard Dean officiating and music by Diane Strahl.
Pallbearers were Scott Hovis, Donnie Corbin, Bob Strahl, Jack Roach and Al Wills.
Arrangements were under the direction of Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville.

Ruth Tinsley
Ruth May Tinsley, 74, died Sept. 13, 2004, at her home in Fredericktown, Mo.
She was born Nov. 11, 1929, in Wayne County, Mo., daughter of the late John and Etta (Burnham) Morris.
She was united in marriage to Glenwood Tinsley Aug. 18, 1949, in Fredericktown and he survives.
Mrs. Tinsley was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by three sons, Lee McAllister, Piedmont, Joseph Tinsley, Bradley Tinsley, both of Fredericktown; three daughters, Donna Martin, Marsha Breakfield, both of Potosi, Rhonda Tinsley, Fredericktown; two brothers, Donal Morris, Arnold, Clifford Morris, Patterson; two sisters, Viola McAllister, Piedmont, Mildred Hassell, Mill Spring; 14 grandchildren, including Katherine Tinsley Lawler, whom she raised; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, Leroy McAllister.
The funeral was held Sept. 16 at Follis & Sons Chapel, Fredericktown, with Rev. Clyde Bess and Rev. Truman Huffman officiating.
Pallbearers were Ted Breakfield, Robert Lawler, Irving Garbison, Jon Garbison, Dean Morris and Glen Guess.
Burial was in Christian Cemetery.

Venable M. Houts
Venable M. Houts, 88, died Oct. 8, 2004, in Piedmont, Mo.
He was born Sept. 20, 1916, near Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of the late James and Pearl (Sparkman) Houts.
He was united in marriage to Gladys Goss May 17, 1944, in Bedford, England, and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Houts was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945.
He retired as a heavy equipment operator from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Clearwater Lake and had worked for First Midwest Bank of Piedmont.
He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and a past member of the VFW.
He is survived by three sons, Bruce (Shirley) Houts, Piedmont, William (Linda) Houts, Cedar Hill, Venable (Cynthia) Houts Jr., Kirkwood; one daughter, Mabel (Michael) Miller, Piedmont; two brothers, Paul Houts, Houston, Texas, John Houts, Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Elizabeth Atwood, Erma Epps, both of Poplar Bluff, Patty Condray, Ellsinore; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Anita Louise Houts, two brothers, James and Farris Houts, three sisters, Mavis Brennan, Betty Jean and Ina Louise Houts.
The funeral was held Oct. 11 at the First Baptist Church in Piedmont with Rev. Mark McMullin, Rev. Jim Stewart and Rev. Kevin Kinnard officiating. Music was provided by the church choir, Wilma Seabaugh, Summer Garrett and Donna D'Amico.
Family remembrances were given by Venable Houts Jr.
Jason, Jonah, Brian and Bradley Houts, Michael Miller, Brandon Clark, Michael Morris, Everett Minton, Matt Moran and Joe Hogan served as pallbearers. Burial was in Sparkman Cemetery, Poplar Bluff.
Arrangements were under the direction of Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont.

Nell W. Underwood
Nell Watkins Underwood, 76, died Sept. 28, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born June 20, 1928, in Calloway County, Ky., daughter of the late James and Effie (Peebles) Morton.
She was united in marriage to John Watkins Sept. 2, 1944, and he preceded her in death May 2, 1964.
She married Lloyd D. Underwood June 29, 1974, and he preceded her in death May 21, 1999.
Mrs. Underwood was a homemaker and a member of the Greenville Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry Watkins, Horn Lake, Miss., Bobby Watkins, Greenville, David Watkins, Patterson; two daughters, Barbara Hixson, Greenville, Nelda Broshuis, Jackson; two sisters, Audie Denton, East Prairie, Letha Wheeler, Hornbeak, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Kathy Jones, Glen Allen; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.
The funeral was held Oct. 11 at Liley Funeral Home, Marble Hill, with Rev. Gene Robbins and Pete Morton officiating.
Burial was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Hiram.

Cornelia B. Yant
Cornelia Belinda Yant, 89, died Oct. 6, 2004, at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont, Mo.
She was born April 24, 1915, in East Prairie, Mo., daughter of the late William and Tessie (Green) Bankston.
She was united in marriage to Plesie William Yant April 2, 1932, in Risco, and he preceded her in death March 24, 1995.
She is survived by one son, Shelby (Connie) Yant, Piedmont; three grandchildren, Mike (Flora) Yant, Scott (Amanda) Yant, Lisa (Richard) Brewington; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Kevin Yant, Dylan and Rebecca Brewington.
She was preceded in death by one son, Plesie "Sonny" Yant, and two brothers.
The funeral was held Oct. 9 at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden with Rev. Elijah Bennett and Bro. Jack Ruble officiating.
Pallbearers were Mike Yant, Scott Yant, Richard Brewington, Wyman Brown, Gary Bankston, Spurge Bankston and John Cook.
Burial was in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Clarkton.
