Emily Lily Carson, 1925-2002
Graveside services for Emily Lily Carson, 77, of Wasola were held Tuesday, June 11 at the Ava Cemetery with Bishop Jerold Brown officiating.
She died Friday, June 7. She was born April 23, 1925, in Santa Rosa, Calif., the daughter of Fredrick and Emily Agnes (Gasser) Ayres. She married Harold Carson Dec. 7, 1954, at Mare Island, Calif.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was also an artist, craftsperson and a homemaker. Her life centered on her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and great personality.
Her early years were spent in California where she attended high school in Sonoma County. She later lived in Germany, Turkey, Maryland and Missouri.
Mrs. Carson is survived by two daughters, Cathy Ann Johnson and her husband, Douglas, of Missoula, Mont., and Cherie L. Gordon of Wasola; three sons, Bill E. Carson and his wife, Patricia, of Monrovia, Md., Michael R. Carson and his wife, Shelia, of Mount Airy, Md., and James L. Carson of LaGrange, Ky.; 15 grandchildren, Eldon Carson, Donna Carson, Wesleigh Carson, Daniel Carson, Joe Carson, Ben Carson, Jennifer Carson, Rianna Carson, Stephanie Gordon, Kristina Gordon, Brian Johnson, Michael Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Aaron Johnson and Kimberly Johnson; and four great-grandchildren, Samantha Johnson, Preston Johnson, Christina Carson and Kayla Carson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sherry Lee Hiteman; and one brother, Frederic Ayers.

Phillip Cheek
1937 - 2003
Funeral services for Phillip Eugene Cheek, 66, of Udall were held Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Cloud 9 Ranch chapel with burial in Baptist Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Cheek died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, in St. Luke Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wis. He was born May 29, 1937, in Vandalia, Mich., the son of the late Verlan and Laura (Hodgson) Cheek. He married Ruby Farel Jan. 14, 1956, in Belvidere, Ill.
He had been a truck driver most of his life and most recently was employed at Cloud 9 Ranch at Caulfield.
He was a member of the Baptist Hill Church and the Teamsters Union. He loved fishing and enjoyed watching the wildlife from his back porch.
Mr. Cheek is survived by his wife, Ruby; three children, Cindy Badell and her husband, Robert, and children, Justin and Daniel, of Edmond, Okla.; Brenda Kudingo and friend, Doug Ford, and children, Ian and Tia, of Belvidere, Ill.; and Charles Cheek, and his wife, Susan, and children, Michelle, Suzanna and Elizabeth, of Gassville, Ark; two brothers, Tom Cheek and his wife, Bernice, of Poplar Grove, Ill.; and Bruce Cheek and his wife, Bonnie, of Garden Prairie, Ill.; many nieces and nephews; and many friends from Cloud 9 Ranch.
He was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Richard Cheek; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Bessie Farel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Doyne P. Smith, 1924-2001
Funeral services for Doyne P. Smith, 77, of Ellis, Kan., were held Monday, Dec. 17 at Wasinger Funeral Chapel in Ellis, Kan., with Rev. Sheryl Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis, Kan.
Mr. Smith died Friday, Dec. 14 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kan. He was born May, 23, 1924, at Sycamore, the son of George W. and Minnie (Davis) Smith. He married the former Norene Farmer July 23, 1946, at Mountain Home, Ark.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW. He served in World War II in the 10th Armored Division in Europe. He was the president of Triangle Well Service in Ellis, Kan., until he retired.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Norene; one son, Rick Smith of Buhler, Kan.; three grandchildren, Tara Goans and her husband, Lonnie, of Hutchinson, Kan., and Mindy Smith and Brett Smith, both of Buhler, Kan.; one great-grandson, Colton Goans; and one brother, Theodore Smith of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Vernie, Hershel and Doyle.

Andy Lee Goble, 1967-2002
Memorial services for Andy Lee Goble, 34, of Pontiac will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 8 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.
Mr. Goble died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Pontiac. He was born Nov. 29, 1967, in Coon Rapids, Minn., the son of Robert Goble and Joyce (Arrington) Theis. He married Judy Goble May 14, 2000, in Oakland, Ark.
He was a mechanic in a motorcycle shop.
Mr. Goble is survived by his wife, Judy; three stepchildren, Rob McClure of Springfield and Mike Canterbury and Tianna Mead, both of Gainesville; his father, Robert Goble of Coon Rapids, Minn.; his mother, Joyce Theis of Coon Rapids, Minn.; eight brothers and sisters, Randy Baum of Naples, Fla., Sandy Olene of Isanti, Minn., Tammy Goble, Mandy Theis and Robbie Goble of Minneapolis, Minn., Jerry Goble of Rice, Minn., Toni Goble of Elmore, Minn., and Cindy Hare of Niffwa, Minn.

Mima Mae Coulter
1916 - 2003
Funeral services for Mima Mae Coulter, 87, of Wasola were held Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel in Gainesville with Gary Honeycutt officiating. Burial was in Lutie Cemetery.
Mrs. Coulter died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at her home. She was born in Taney County May 11, 1916, the daughter of Aaron "Paddy" and Daisy (Randall) Taber. She married Earl Norman Coulter in July 1948 in Michigan. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Coulter is survived by five daughters, Earlene Gallagher of Riverside, Calif., Phyllis Veatch of Eagle Rock, Glenda Perry of Theodosia, Vicky Thompson of Squires and Sue Miller of South Rockwood; three sons, Harold Simmons of Fruitland Park, Fla., Monroe Simmons of Bone Cave, Tenn., and Eldon Simmons of Taylor, Mich.; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Garnett Peacock of Theodosia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents; two sons, Donald Simmons, who died in Vietnam, and Earl Coulter Jr.; two brothers; four sisters; and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers were Thomas Perry, Allen Perry, Steve Schemekel, Steven Earl Schemekel, Tim Thompson, Brad Hickson, Burr Taber and Kasey Taber. Honorary pallbearers were Eric N. Miller, Mike Miller and Tony Thompson.

James Mark Gault
1943 - 2003
Memorial services for James Mark Gault, 59, of Olathe, Kan., were held Aug. 25 at the First Christian Church in Olathe, with burial in the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Gault died Aug. 19, 2003, at his home. He was born Dec. 5, 1943, in West Plains, the son of James Henry and Sue (Sanders) Gault.
Mr. Gault moved to Olathe in 1972 from Kansas City.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Olathe. He was a graduate of Gainesville High School and worked for Johnson County Information Technology Services and retired after 27 years. He also was a member AA.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; one son, Henry Gault and his wife, Sara, of Olathe, Kan.; one daughter, Cris Gault of Tonganoxie, Kan.; one grandson, Ryan Gault; two brothers, Ed Gault of Elgin, Okla., and Joe Gault of Ozark.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 200 E. Loula, Olathe, KS 66061.

Hobert Hadley Ledbetter, 1908-2002
Funeral services for Hobert Hadley Ledbetter, 94, of Theodosia, were held Saturday, Oct. 26 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville. Burial was in Lutie Cemetery.
Mr. Ledbetter died Oct. 21, 2002, at Cox Walnut Lawn in Springfield. He was born Oct. 19, 1908, in Ozark County, the son of James Henry and Caldonia (Jones) Ledbetter. He married Jerda Maxine Hogan Feb. 17, 1936, at Gainesville.
He was a member of True Hope General Baptist Church in Theodosia, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of Sampson Lodge #298 and had received his 50-year pin.
He and his wife, owned and operated Ledbetter General Store in Theodosia for more than 55 years. He was a former postmaster and mayor of Theodosia. He enjoyed dealing in livestock and enjoyed baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.
Mr. Ledbetter is survived by his wife, Maxine; three daughters, Lena Hobbs and her husband, Rex, of McKinney, Texas, Joyce Hampton and her husband, Arnold, and Sue Baber and her husband, Stan, all of Springfield; one son, Travis Ledbetter and his wife, Virginia, of Branson; one daughter-in-law, Earlene Ledbetter of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Ledbetter of Springfield; 11 grandchildren, Anita and Bill Horton, David and Robyn Hobbs, Pam and Will Wegis, Ben and Tammy Ledbetter, Mary and Myron Bruffett, Greg Hampton, Greta Pierce, Gayla and Chris Marafino, Sam Baber, Diana Baber, Shane and Kris Ledbetter and Susan and Richard Ewing; 17 great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jackson, James, Ellen, Matt, Annie, Addie, Michael, Christal, Bianca, Gabriel, Zachary, Madison, Nicole, Sally, Molly and Hadley; one great-great-granddaughter, Demara; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edna (Reich) Ledbetter; one son, Dwight Hadley; one grandson, Steven Baber; and four brothers, Raymond, Emory, Allen and Rayford.
Memorials may be made to the Lutie Cemetery at Theodosia.

Clemence Edmonia Coatney, 1928-2002
Funeral services for Clemence Edmonia Coatney, 73, of Gainesville, were held Friday, Dec. 6 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home with Dale Roberts officiating. Burial was in Isabella Cemetery.
Mrs. Coatney died Dec. 3, 2002. She was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Tebbetts, the daughter of Samuel L. and Clara Mae (Craghead) Griffin. She married Charles Coatney Dec. 24, 1954, in Rhineland.
She was a member of the Gainesville Christian Church and a school teacher.
Mrs. Coatney is survived by one daughter, Clara May Kaufman of Peoria, Ill.; two sons, William Lawrence Kaufman of Conway and Charles Edward Coatney Jr. of Jefferson City; seven stepchildren, Dick Coatney and Denny Coatney of Gainesville, Elva Beard and Charlotte Hanks of Mountain Home, Ark., Retha Friend and Levita Turley of Kansas City, Kan., and Freda Dodson of Great Bend, Kan.; and one sister, Edith Mae Griffin of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; one brother; and one sister.
Pallbearers were Dick Coatney, Denny Coatney, Marty Coatney, Bill Cook, Rex Johnson and Larry Grisham.
Honorary pallbearers were Dwain Hannaford, Ray Ingram and David Stevens.
