Gary Gabbert

Gary “Gabby” Gabbert, 68 of Hankinson, ND passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at his home under the care of his family. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hankinson, ND with burial at Immanuel Cemetery, Hankinson. Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at Immanuel Lutheran Church. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Gary was born on June 4, 1946 at Hankinson, ND to Louis and Irene (Miller) Gabbert. He was baptized, confirmed and was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Hankinson where he served as an elder for 27 years. He was also an A.A.L. Branch officer for more than 10 years and in that capacity led many large fund raising events in the community.

He graduated from Hankinson Public School in 1964 and then served in the National Guard from 1965-71. He married Dorothy Novotny at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hankinson on September 10, 1966. They purchased a farm from Max Wipperman in 1966 where he farmed for several years and then rented out the farm land and went to work for 40 years as a heavy equipment operator at a site (under several different owners) just ½ mile from his home. He semi-retired in 2008 and then worked part-time as a truck driver for the Richland County Highway Department based at Hankinson.

Gary loved to hunt deer from his deer stands on his land and Colorado elk for more than 20 years with the hunting “gang”. He also enjoyed fishing the many lakes around here and also going on some fun Canadian fishing trips. He was very active in the Richland County Wildlife Club where he served as an officer for 20 years and was the founder of the R.C.W.C spring fishing tournament which he managed for 23 years. He so enjoyed fishing and sometimes winning that tournament with his son Paul and granddaughter, Kendra. He also played old pro softball and was part of the 1984 State Old Pro Champs. Gary also enjoyed snowmobile racing and demolition derbies in his younger years and for the last 20 years he hosted an annual large family 4th of July get together where he earned the name “Gangster Gary” from his nephews and great-nephews for his “new” rules in the annual croquet tournament.

Gary was blessed with 3 beautiful and loving grandchildren. He loved to play with them, take them fishing and go for countless miles of riding on the 4 wheeler. They never stopped amazing him and making him smile.

Gary is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy, 2 wonderful sons, Michael, Hankinson and Paul (Amber), West Fargo, ND; 3 grandchildren, Kendra, Trystin and Tessa, West Fargo, his mother, Irene, Hankinson and sister, Norma (Jack) Murphy, Hankinson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis.

Jacklynn Kae Miller

Jacklynn Kae Miller, 46 of Hankinson, ND passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson, ND with Rev. Adam Moline officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service. The organist will be Bev Buckhouse.

Jackie was born February 15, 1964 at St. Gerard’s Hospital, Hankinson, ND to Alfred & Judith (Simonson) Miller. She was raised and attended high school in Hankinson. Following high school she moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area where she attended Moorhead tech, she worked for Custom Graphics for several years and other various jobs until she started her custom painting business in the Fargo/Moorhead area.

She was an avid softball player, loved to play pool, darts, fishing and a passion for riding her motorcycle and so many other things. She just loved to be outdoors and spending time with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter: Danielle Miller, Fargo, ND; parents: Judith (Wayne) Hockert, Brandon, MN & Alfred (Sandy) Miller, Hankinson, ND; two sisters: Peggy Miller, Moorhead, MN and Jody (Michael) Taxdahl, Hankinson, ND; a nephew: Tyler Taxdahl, Hankinson, ND, an aunt & uncle and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal & paternal grandparents: Alfred & Eleanora Miller, Sr. and Herman & Ethel Simonson and a cousin: Lori Witlund.

Winnie Wallock

Winnie Wallock, 69 of Hankinson, ND passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 at her home in Hankinson, ND. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Hankinson, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 6-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson, ND. There will also be visitation on Thursday one hour prior to the service.

Winnie was born March 16, 1946 in Fargo, ND to Jake and Jean (Palmer) Kemple. The family lived in Milnor until 1958 when they moved to Hankinson. She attended Hankinson Public School, graduating in 1964.

Winnie married Richard "Dickey" Jaeger in July of 1965. In July of 1970 their Son Leigh was born. Richard passed away in Sept. Of 1970.

Winnie married Wayne Wallock in July of 1972. In Sept. of 1975 their Daughter Neeley was born. Wayne passed away in July of 1982.

She then worked at Imation until retiring in 2006.

In earlier years Winnie was an avid bowler and softball player. Her passion to this day was her 5 Grandchildren and the farm. She loved every minute she spent with the kids and her animals. She enjoyed riding horse, fishing, gardening and just walking among the cattle and calling them by name.

Survived by her 2 beloved children: Leigh (Alexia) Jaeger and Neeley Wallock and her 5 precious grandchildren, Cody, Richard, Shelby, Addison and Skyla, all of Hankinson. Her Sisters: Sherrie (Dick) Kirkeby and family and Judy (Loel) Marohl and family, both of Hankinson and the family of her late Sister, Shannon Steffens.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Richard and Wayne. Her parents: Jake and Jean and her sister: Shannon Steffens.

Melissa Weinkauf

Melissa Kay Weinkauf, 43 of Fargo, ND passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at her home in Fargo. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home in Hankinson, ND, with Rev. Teresa Heupel Buckhaus officiating and burial will be in United Cemetery in Hankinson, ND. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to the time of the service on Saturday. Pallbearers will be; Brandon Wahler, Amber Wahler, Sherry Wahler, Kyle Wahler, Kelsey Mohs & Aaron Mohs.

Melissa Kay Weinkauf was born on March 11, 1968 in Breckenridge, MN, the Daughter of Myron Weinkauf and Constance Wahler. She grew up in Wahpeton, until the death of her mother, when she went to live with her Aunt and Uncle near Lidgerwood. She graduated from Lidgerwood High School in 1988. She then moved to Fargo, ND where shehaslivedsince.

She enjoyed socializing and had a good sense of humor and was always giving. She is survived by; a Sister; Samantha Weinkauf of Fargo, ND, an Uncle & Aunt; John (Eileen) Wahler of Lidgerwood, ND, Bev (Kevin) Mohs of Wahpeton, ND.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; Myron Weinkauf, Constance Jentz, grandparents: Elroy & Mildred Wahler and Gust & Minerva Weinkauf.

Frank Family Funeral Home of Hankinson, ND is in charge of the arrangements.

Elda Mae Vig

Elda Mae Vig, 85, was called home by her heavenly Father Saturday, June 6, 2015 at United Living Community, Brookings, SD. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Veblen, SD with Pastor Tryphine Olson- Schruba officiating and burial will be at Veblen Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7pm all at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Veblen. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Pallbearers are: Jerry Christenson, Tom Christenson, Ron Christenson, David Christenson, Dan Bessler, Fred Bessler, Kent Mottle, Joel Vig, John Sweetmilk, David Vig & Ed Ormand. Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren: Joshua Vig, Jesse Vig, Jeremy Deutsch, Kendra Deutsch, Troy Larson, Colin Vig, Kelsey Vig, John Danaher, Kaleb Vig & Brianna Vig. Organist will be Coleen Halverson with special music by Jerry Nelson.

Elda Mae Vig was born October 16, 1929 in Aurora, SD the daughter of Fred & Barbara (Balzer) Bessler. In 1931 she moved with her family to Veblen, SD. She attended country grade school and graduated from Veblen High School in 1947. After high school she attended Northern State Teacher’s College & taught country school near Veblen. On December 21, 1948 she was united in marriage to John Neal Vig. After their marriage they farmed until retirement. Elda had daycare services in her home, worked at Dacotah, Inc., The Veblen Clinic and lastly at Nelson & Grobe’s Grocery. John Neal passed away on August 13, 2009.

Elda enjoyed visits from her children & grandchildren. She always enjoyed company, brewing up some coffee with numerous homemade goodies. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, scrabble & crossword puzzles. She was a life- long member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was involved in various Ladies Circles. Elda was also a life-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary of South Dakota.

She is survived by her children: Darrell (Lois) Vig, Rapid City, SD, Jeff (Denise) Vig, Sioux Falls, SD, Cheryl (Ron) Deutsch, Brookings, SD, Dennis (Beverly) Vig, Veblen, SD, Sandra Danaher, Stuart, FL; & John F. (Darla) Vig, Brookings, SD; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two step grandchildren & three step great grandchildren; sister: Ardis Mottle, Minneapolis, MN; sisters-in-law: Doris (Roy) Sweetmilk, Breckenridge, MN, Lorretta Bessler, Sisseton, SD & Lorraine Vig, Veblen, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Fred & Barbara Bessler, husband: John Neal Vig, grandson: Allan Vig, sister: Eileen Christenson, brothers: Keith & Kenneth Bessler and nephews: Larry & Bruce Christenson.

Roy A. Dickerman

Roy August Dickerman, 79 of Hankinson, ND passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at his home in Hankinson, ND. Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hankinson, ND with Rev. Adam Moline officiating and burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, June 1, 2015 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hankinson. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Pallbearers are: Bruce Bommersbach, Kevin Erickson, Craig Erickson, Herb Carlson, Jody Birchem & Randy Kubitz. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren. Organist will be Bev Grohnke with special music by Gwen Loll.

Roy August Dickerman was born December 16, 1935 at Fargo, ND to Roy Lee and Hattie (Strache) Dickerman. He attended grade school in Fairmount and high school in Hankinson. On October 18, 1961 he married Helen Meyer at Sisseton, SD. After their marriage they lived in Hankinson and Roy worked at Scheller’s Service and was part time city police officer. He worked many years for Meide & Sons until an injury forced him to retire.

Roy is survived by his wife Helen, of 53 years, Hankinson, ND; sons: Troy (Lorraine), Hankinson, ND and Jamie (Jenifer), Jamestown, ND; grandchildren: Kyle, Lacey, Kaylee, Joshua & Karter.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy & Hattie, uncles: Fred & August and beloved grandson: Steven Michael Dickerman.

Keith Bessler

Keith Bessler, 84 of Veblen, SD passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Veblen, Veblen, SD with Pastor Mark Terayama officiating. Burial will be in the Veblen Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at the church. There will also be visitation Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are: Daniel L. Bessler, Kyle A. Bessler, Jerad Bessler, James Sigaty, Lester Hansen, Jon Greseth, Jeff Vig, Dennis Vig & Kent Mottle. Honorary pallbearers are: Raymond Brickzen, Larry Meyers, Duayne Baldwin & Keith Butrum. Organist will be Vivian Munson with special music by Holly Butrum.

Keith Darrell Bessler was born July 5, 1926 on a farm in Aurora, SD, the son of Fred and Barbara (Balzer) Bessler. He grew up on the farm and when he was 5 he moved with his family to a farm near Veblen, SD. He attended country school and Veblen High School. After school he farmed. On September 16, 1948 he was united in marriage to Lorretta Berreth at the Presbyterian Church of Veblen. After their marriage they continued to live on the farm even after retirement and he continued to help out on the farm when he could.

Keith was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Veblen and the Mason’s.

He is survived by his wife: Lorretta Bessler, Veblen, SD; sons: Daniel E. Bessler, Veblen, SD and Frederick K. (Sandra) Bessler, Veblen, SD; a daughter: LaVae (Howard) Sigaty, Brookings, SD; sisters: Ardis Mottle, Minneapolis, MN and Elda Vig, Brookings, SD; Seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Fred & Barbara Bessler; twin brother: Kenneth Bessler; sister: Eileen Christenson; nephew: Larry Christenson & grand nephew: Allan Vig.

Ralph Reisdorfer

Ralph Reisdorfer, son of Frank and Cecelia (Kirpach) Reisdorfer was born on August 6, 1927 on a farm in Barney Township, North Dakota. He was united in marriage to Mabel (Linck) Reisdorfer, November 27, 1948 at Breckenridge, Minnesota. They lived in Wahpeton, ND. He drove truck for Northwestern Sheet and Iron and peddled freight for Murphy Motor in Wahpeton. In 1976, they purchased the Mantador Grocery Store and operated it until 1984. Ralph and Mabel were custodians for Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church and Mantador Elementary School. He also graded roads and was a farmhand. In 2007, Ralph moved to Hankinson, ND. Ralph enjoyed softball, fishing, square dancing and playing cards.Ralph passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at St. Gerard’s Community of Care in Hankinson, ND. He was 87 years old. He is survived by son Gene (Jan) Reisdorfer of Janesville, WI; daughters, Kathleen (Milton) Wilkinson of Moorhead, MN; Gloria Reisdorfer of Breckenridge, MN; Judy (Bill) Krump of Hankinson, ND; Lois (Randy) Krump of Hankinson, ND; and Carol (Dale) Anderson of Breckenridge, MN. Grandchildren: Jason (Nicole Hongerholdt) Restemayer, Daniel (Sara Gregor) Krump, Lori (Jim) O’Donnell, Kara (Cory) Trom, Curtis Krump, Nathan Krump, Lisa Anderson and Christopher Anderson. Great grandchildren: Ty Hongerholdt, Skyler Restemayer, Aydenn Restemayer, Adrianna Krump, Caitlynn Krump, Samuel Trom, Jackson O’Donnell. Step grandchild: Kay (Arv) Amundson and step great grandchildren: Kyle Amundson and Sam Amundson. He was proceeded in death by his wife Mabel, a daughter, Mary Reisdorfer, his parents, Frank and Cecelia Reisdorfer. Funeral mass will be Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Mantador, ND with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday June 24, 2015 from 4:30 – 6:45 pm with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the mass at the church on Thursday.

Funeral mass will be Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 10:30 am Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Mantador, ND with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday June 24, 2015 from 4:30 – 6:45 pm with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the mass at the church on Thursday.
