MOLITERNO, VINCENT JAMES

Vincent James Moliterno, 91 years old, a 41 year resident of Eastchester, passed away on April 11. Beloved husband for 55 years of the late Vita (Marino). Devoted father of Joseph and Arlene Moliterno and Marguerite and Clement Pizzo. Loving grandfather of Vincent M. Moliterno, Maria Moliterno, Gerard Pizzo, Annemarie and David Aronowitz. Proud great-grandfather of Leah Aronowitz. Dear brother of Ernest Moliterno, Angie Bongermino and the late Nancy Vitelli. Caring son of the late Joseph and Margherita Moliterno. Vincent was a member of the "Greatest Generation", a distinguished veteran of WWII. He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan whose personal hero was Joe DiMaggio. Vincent will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends at WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC., EASTCHESTER, Sunday 2-5 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday April 14 at Assumption Church at 10:30 AM. Entombment to follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum.

Julio Rios, Jr.
January 25, 1972 - November 4, 2019
Julio Rios of Yonkers, NY spread his wings and left us on Monday, November 4, 2019 to join our heavenly Father in heaven. Julio, born to Rosa Soto on January 25, 1972, was only 47 years old at the time of his departure.
Julio is survived by his wife Milagros and 4 children (Elijah, A’lanah, Alexus, Aaron), mother Rosa, sister Sujeiry (Andy), brothers Anthony, Daniel and David, 3 children (Christopher, Gabriella, Isabella) with former spouse Maryann and 2 grandchildren (Sofia, Dominick).
For those who didn’t know Julio, he had the biggest heart and one of the kindest souls. No matter what life threw his way, Julio always remained in good spirits and kept his head up. His strength and perseverance was admirable to say the least. You always knew you could count on Julio to be there for you no matter what. He was genuine, honest and a great listener and friend. Julio had a cheerful personality, was always upbeat and just an easy going person all around. He was admired as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend who will always be remembered for his infectious smile and contagious laugh. Julio would only want everyone to remember him in good times.
Our beloved Julio you will never be forgotten! I know that you are in good hands and your spirit will forever remain in our hearts! God rest your soul.

BATTISTA, MARY

Mary Battista, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on March 2, 2008. She was 80. Mrs. Battista was born on October 11, 1927 in the Bronx to the late Joseph and Francesca (Tomanelli) Morea. She was predeceased by her husband Carlo, who died in 1979. She is survived by a sister Theresa Novak, and several loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers contributions to Rosary Hill, Hawthorne, NY.

CARLSON, JAMES E.

James E. Carlson passed away on March 2, 2008. He was born on December 13, 1939 to Florence and Alfred Carlson of New City. Jim graduated Clarkstown High School in 1957, and Harpur College in 1961. He received a Masters in Economics from Penn State University in 1963. Jim spent a career of over 25 years at Merrill Lynch where he retired as a Senior Vice President. He served as Chairman of the Board for Jawonio and was President of the New City Jaycees. Jim is survived by his loving wife Frances and their children James, Lisa, Eric, Gina, Elizabeth, William, and David. He will be missed dearly by his three adoring grandchildren Nicolo, Zachary, and Trevor. He is also survived by his brother Alfred, his sister Eileen Kaplan, and his aunt Marti Siegriest. Family will receive friends on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main Street, New City, NY. A service will be held Thursday 11:30 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Germond's Cemetery, New City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jawonio, People to People, or Nyack Hospital. HIGGINS FUNERAL HOME, 321 S. CHARLA, JOHN G. SR.

John G. Charla Sr. (Flash) of New Rochelle on March 2, 2008 at Northern Westchester Hospital. He was 90. Mr. Charla owner of Charla Brothers Iron Work in New Rochelle, a family business with his brother Leonard for 55 years before retiring in 1995. Mr. Charla was born on July 11, 1917 in New Rochelle to Louis and Antoinette Amoroso Charla. He was educated in New Rochelle and graduated from NRHS. Mr. Charla served in the army during WWII. On October 10, 1942 he married Jean Martinetti at St. Joseph Church in New Rochelle. Mr. Charla lived in Lincolndale for the past eight years before that in New Rochelle. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren at holidays and other family functions. He will be remembered for his annual vegetable garden and his generosity and his long time in New Rochelle business that lasted over 100 years passed down from his father. He is survived by son John Charla Jr. (Carol); daughters Ursula Hickey (Michael), Joan Kraft (Vernon) and Alba Devine; grandchildren John Charla III, Jordan Charla, Edward Devine and Jeanne (Devine) Rissin (Howard); twin great grandchildren Zoe and Chloe Rissin. Family members who died earlier include six brothers and four sisters. Calling hours are Wednesday only 2-4 and 7-9 PM at N. Cancro Funeral Home. The funeral is Friday 11 AM at St. Joseph Church. CUCCIA, FANNIE T.

Fannie Cuccia (nee Sansone), a lifelong Yonkers resident entered into eternal rest on Sunday March 2nd at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck New York. She was 87. Born in Yonkers on September 3, 1920 to Josephine Curcio and Austin Sansone, she was educated in Yonkers Schools and graduated from Commerce High School. On August 1, 1943 Fannie married Jack R. Cuccia at St. Mary's Church. Mr. Cuccia was the owner and operator of the Cuccia Funeral Home on Lockwood Avenue in Yonkers until his death in 1975, at which time Mrs. Cuccia continued to operate the business until 1989. Fannie was an active parishioner of St. Bartholomew's Church and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also active in Opus Dei and a supporter of Vancourt and many other charities. Fannie was a devout homemaker whose life was dedicated to her children and grandchildren. Fannie is survived by her daughters Jacqueline Muniz (Juan) of Tivoli, NY, Marilyn Matura (James) of Scottsdale, AZ, Rosemary Rispo (Antonio) of Mahopa, NY, and Joanne Cuccia (Robert Appel) also of Mahopac. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Beccaria, Antoinette Stein, Louise Devine and a brother, Samuel Sansone. Mass of the Resurrection will take place on Thursday 10am at St. Bartholomew's Church in Yonkers. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale. Lawrence W. Vandak
May 30, 1988 - May 15, 2020

Passed peacefully after a brave and challenging two-year battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was loved infinitely by his wife of 5 years Julie (Zwisdak) Vandak who was his high school sweetheart and business partner. He loved punk rock music, playing video games and watching wrestling. He enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee every morning with his mom Mariellen (Wilson) Van Nostrand. Larry had an amazing ability of making lifelong friends instantly with his easygoing, carefree personality. He was a talented musician and played in a number of local bands including Broken Record and The Gravity Theory. Larry was a funny, kind and motivated individual. He became an entrepreneur at the young age of 25 when he opened the dog grooming salon Groom Spot in Tuckahoe, NY. He loved his dog Maeby and had dreams of rescuing many more shelter mutts. He is survived by his wife, his mom, his grandpa Charles Edward Wilson, and an extensive family of cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Social distancing required. Please keep in mind Lawrence would want to keep everyone safe, therefore limit unnecessary travel.
He will be buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
The family will have a celebration of his life at a later date as no visitors are allowed at this time.
