GOLDSTEIN, MYRA ANN

Myra Ann Goldstein of Manhattan died peacefully at her apartment on Saturday, she was 60 years old. She was born in Nyack, NY on January 20, 1948 and raised in South Nyack. She attended the Nyack Public Schools and graduated from Nyack High School in 1966. She has lived in Manhattan for the past 40 years. She was the manager of the fine jewelry dept. at Saks Fifth Ave. N.Y. and the marketing manager for Simon & Sobie & Son. She was a member and was very active in the Women's Jewelry Assn. She is survived by her brother Ross J. and Lynda of Barnaget, NJ, sister Joan and Ryan of Bemus Point, New York. She is also survived by her best feline friend Boo-Boo. Services are planned on Wednesday at 12 noon at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack, NY with burial to follow at Temple Israel Memorial Park Cemetery in Blauvelt. Calling hours are planned for Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. CRANSTON, RONALD V. SR.

Ronald V. Cranston Sr. of Ossining passed away on Oct. 7, 2015, at the age of 79. Beloved husband of the late Elaine Stangle Cranston. Devoted father of Karen O’Driscoll (Kevin), Kimberly DeSousa (Phillip), Kerri Lyn Cranston (Joseph Orfino) and Ronald V. Cranston Jr. (Lily). Loving papa to Jordyn O’Driscoll and Elaina Orfino. He was born on Aug. 6, 1936 to James Vincent & Emily (Tompkins) Cranston and was a proud lifelong resident of Ossining. Ron attended Ossining High School and upon graduation he served with the National Guard. On August 11, 1962, he married his sweetheart, Elaine J. Stangle. Ron completed his apprenticeship in 1964, became a Master Electrician and was the owner/operator of Cranston Electric for over 40 years. Ron was a well known community member who was loved and respected by all. He enjoyed unforgettable summers traveling with his family, spending time with his grandchildren and was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first grandson this winter. He was predeceased by his brother James and is survived by his brother Arthur Cranston & sister Joanne DiGirolamo and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Leach & Thomas, Inc. 32 State St. Ossining Mon. 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial Tues. 11:30am at St. Augustine’s Church, burial St. Augustine’s Cemetery. BINGELL, JILL MARIE

Jill Marie Bingell, formerly of Ossining, died suddenly on September 28, 2015, she was 27. She was born December 22, 1987 to Henry Bingell & Georgina Dufresne. Jill is survived by her daughter Vivian, father Henry Bingell and step-mother Brenda Bingell, mother Georgina Cloke, step-father Dennis Cloke, brothers Dennis, David & Frank and sister Julia Cloke. A memorial wake will be Sunday October 11, 2015 from 5pm-7pm at Leach & Thomas, Inc., 32 State St., Ossining. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family for Vivian’s college fund would be appreciated.

TRAPASSO, SAMUEL A.

Sam Trapasso of Ossining died Oct. 1, 2015, he was 95. He was born Nov. 24, 1919 in Highland Falls to Louis & Serafina Trapasso. Sam served 4 ˝ years in the Army during WWII as a Tech. Sgt. In the 9th Infantry Division. He was captured in 1944 by the Germans and held captive until the end of the war. He received 12 medals including the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Sam was pre-deceased by his son Anthony who died in 1952 and 14 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Rotella Trapasso, daughter Sandra Thomas, grandson Joseph Thomas and sister Louise Merante. Sam will be reposing Sun. 2-5pm at Leach & Thomas, Inc. 32 State St. Ossining. Mass of Christian Burial Mon. 10am at St. Ann’s Church, interment private.

FOLEY, JAMES E. III

Jim Foley of Lake Peekskill, formerly of Ossining, died September27, 2015, he was 56. He was born June 25, 1959 in North Tarrytown to James & Phyllis Foley. Jim worked as a Corrections Officer for Westchester County Department of Corrections in the Penitentiary and later as a Police Officer with the Village of Ossining Police Department, from which he retired. He enjoyed watching and caring for the birds in his backyard, playing with his dogs, and spending the day on his boat on the Hudson River with friends and family. Jim is survived by his wife Ana Foley, son Sean Tyler Foley, sisters Claudia Indovino (Joseph) and Patricia Foley-Jones and Aunt Dorothy M. Foley. He will be reposing Friday October 2nd from 4pm-8pm at Leach & Thomas, Inc. 32 State St. Ossining, interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Putnam SPCA PO Box 850 Brewster, NY 10509.

Robert L. Volckhausen

Robert Louis Volckhausen died peacefully on September 14, 2015 in Ossining, NY. He was one day shy of his 77th birthday. He was born on September 15, 1938 in New York City to William Louis Volckhausen and Jessie (nee Rankin) Volckhausen. He and his older brother William and younger brother John grew up in Teaneck, NJ, Virginia, Mount Kisco, NY and Larchmont, NY. He graduated from Horace Greeley High School before attending Farmingdale State College. He worked for many years at Arcadian Gardens in Ossining, NY and later at Green Valley Nursery in Hawthorne, NY. He was a devoted son to his mother, Jessie, selflessly taking care of her in her later years. Ever gregarious and generous, he had a great love of horticulture, baseball, politics, food and his many friends and family. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ossining, NY. His gentle, upbeat spirit will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know him. He is survived by his nieces Jeannie Senior and Sharon Volckhausen, his nephews Jeffrey Volckhausen and Alex Volckhausen, and his sisters-in-law Martha Volckhausen and Grace Lyu-Volckhausen. A viewing will be held at Leach & Thomas, Inc. 32 State Street, Ossining at 10am on Sunday, September 20, 2015, to be followed by service at the First Presbyterian Church at 11:45 am. Graveside Service Monday 11am at Kensico Cemetery.

MASARECH, JULIE

Julie Thomas Masarech died on September 13, 2015, she was 101. She was born in N. Tarrytown, the daughter of Helena Stach Thomas and Andrew Thomas. She grew up in the Pennybridge section of Tarrytown, the eldest of six brothers. Julie married John Masarech Jr., son of Anna Ochadnicky & John Masarech Sr. at the Carmelite Church in Tarrytown. Julie was a devoted & caring wife, mother grandmother and great-grandmother. Many weekends were spent picking violets on the Rockefeller Estate and sitting along the Pocantico River. She loved music and enjoyed playing her mandolin & accordion. Julie was pre-deceased by her husband, four brothers and her daughter, Elizabeth Manna Hausler. She is survived by her daughter Julianne Long, brothers Peter & Benedict Thomas, sister-in-law Dorothy Thomas and son-in-law James Hausler, five grandchildren Evelyn Messina, Julia Fonseca-Dart, Robert Manna, Christine Booth, John Manna, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great great grandsons and well as many nieces and nephews and a large extended family and will be greatly missed. She will be reposing Friday 9:30am – 11:30am at Leach & Thomas, Inc. 32 State Street Ossining. Mass will follow at 12pm at St. Augustine’s Church, burial Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
