Helen D. Pettit, 93, of Shenorock, NY died on July 27, 2008. Mrs. Pettit was born on July 16, 1915 to Joseph and Catherine Jakubowski. Mrs. Pettit worked as a clerk for Walker Studios in Yonkers, NY. She is survived by her two loving sons, John (Margaret) and David (Jean); six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin today from 2 - 4 PM & 7 - 9 PM at Cargain Funeral Homes.On Wednesday there will be a service at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. RIVERA, ANTHONY
Anthony Rivera of Chestnut Ridge, NY entered into eternal rest on Saturday July 26, 2008 peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was 76 years old. Anthony was born on April 11, 1932 in New York City, NY to the late Angel and Regina Rodriguez Rivera and was the beloved husband of Doris Mary Anazagasty Rivera whom he married on December 8, 1956. Anthony graduated from Williams College in Pennsylvania, served in the US Navy during the Korean War, and was a retired VP of Manufactures Hanover Trust Co in the Bronx. Along with his loving wife at home he is survived by his children Tony and his wife Anna Maria, Denise, Glen, Chrissy and her husband Billy, and seven Grandchildren Christina, L.B., Brandon, Justin, Nicholas, Ben, and Anthony. Friends and family are invited to call Tuesday July 29, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Wanamaker & Carlough F.H., 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY 10901. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday July 30, 2008 at 10 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the F.W. Loewscher Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY 10977.
ROBBINS, LORETTA L.
Loretta Lee Robbins of Chappaqua passed away on July 27, 2008, she was 68 years old. She was born in the Bronx on July 7, 1940 to Adele Jacobs Hantman and Sam Hantman. Loretta received her education at the High School of Performing Arts, a B.A. in Art & Education at Hunter College, an Art Therapy Degree from NYU and an Art Workshop at WCC. She was active in the community in the Chappaqua Artists Group, ORT, League of Women Voters, Affiliates/ Purchase College Foundation and Temple Beth El. Loretta is survived by her husband David Bruce Robbins, her son Jonathan, her daughters Christine and Jennifer. She was a grandmother to Melissa Ramirez, Megan Cutler, Benjamin & Lauren Robbins and a great grandmother to Jayden Ramirez. Loretta is also survived by her brother Alan Hantman. The family will receive friends at Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester 229 Bedford Road in Chappaqua on Wednesday July 30th where her service will begin at 1:30 PM. SCORDATO, EMIL
Emil A. Scordato, 95, of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Eastchester died on July 26, 2008. Beloved husband of the late Frances to whom he was married for 51 years. Devoted father of Madeleen McKenna and her husband Tom and Richard Scordato and his wife Susan. Cherished grandfather of Scott, Carolyn, Jill and Gail Mckenna and Elizabeth and Brian Scordato. He was a talented engineer who worked on airplane engines, printing presses and elevators. He also invented the first automated machine for testing blood clotting. Then he founded Medical Laboratory Automation (MLA) in Mt. Vernon in 1961. The company moved to Pleasantville in 1985 and was the largest employer in Pleasantville. He was a world leader in that field. Visiting at WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, Inc. Thursday July 31st from 2-4, 7-9PM. Funeral Mass Friday August 1st at 10:30AM, Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe, followed by entombment at Ferncliff Mausoleum. LOMONACO, NINA TINI
Nina Tini LoMonaco, a former resident of Hawthorne, passed away September 5. She was 97. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas and Madelene Tagliavia Tini. In Hawthorne, she was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church and for 38 years, worked in sales for Saks Fifth Ave. in White Plains. She then moved to Port Richie, Florida with her husband Salvatore, where he passed away in 1988. For 30 years, she was very active in volunteer work in advertising and sales in various political and social activities. She is predeceased by a daughter, Marie G. Williams, survived by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, a son-in-law Dr. John P. Williams, two nephews and several grand-nephews and nieces. Predeceased by brothers Joseph and Anthony Tini. A Rosary will be recited Friday morning at 10:15 at the Maher Funeral Home, Pleasantville, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at 11:30 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Irving Appel, 92, of Coconut Creek, FL formerly of Monsey, NY passed away July 24, 2008. Beloved husband of the late Celia. Cherished father of Marty Appel and Norman (Jacqueline) Appel. Grandfather of Brian (Katie), Deborah, Scott, Andrew and Bradley. Brother of Arlene Applebaum. He served his country in WW II and was a member of the Knights of Pythias & Masons.
