Nichola Alexander

Nichola Alexander (Nick) of Pawling, NY passed away on August 4, 2012. He was born on May 19, 1940 in Paterson, NJ to Marguerite (Sacco) and William Alexander. He was raised in Holmes, NY and attended Pawling High School. Nick proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960. After returning home from the service he married Genevieve Dougherty April 27, 1963. He was employed by the U.S. Post office and retired in 2002. Nick enjoyed to play computer games, the ponies, and Lotto. Nick is survived by his wife, Genevieve (Gen) M. (Dougherty) Alexander, of Pawling, NY; his sons, Richard M. Alexander of Wingdale, NY; Edward Alexander (Jennifer) of Philmont, NY and his daughter Diana M. Scrivanos of Brewster, NY. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, Richard M. Alexander Jr., Kerri Scrivanos, Nicholas, Abigail, Joseph, and Kristen Alexander. Nick also leaves behind a brother Herbert (Shirley) Alexander of Holmes, NY; three sister-in-laws Shirley, Barbara, and Patricia Alexander; and several nieces nephews and many friends, including his good friend and betting partner Alex Scott. He was predeceased both parents and brothers William and Joseph. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 9 PM at Cargain Funeral Homes in Carmel, 10 Fowler Ave. Carmel, NY 10512 (845)225-3672. CRUSE, MARY A.

Mary A. Cruse of Sloatsburg, NY passed away September 10, 2008 at the age of 90. Born June 19, 1918 in Sloatsburg, NY to Frank and Angelica (Fanny) Persichetti, Mary was retired from Avon Products in Suffern, NY. She was Pre-Deceased by her husband James in 1991, and was an Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, and also volunteered at St. Joseph's Home in Sloatsburg, NY. She is survived by two brothers Bennetto Persichetti and his wife Kathleen of Sloatsburg, NY, and Frank Persichetti and his wife Juliann of Sloatsburg, and one sister Rose Wagenhoffer and her husband Robert of Sloatsburg, and numerous nieces and nephews survive her. She was pre-deceased by one brother Frederick and his wife Agnes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday September 15, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern died on February 28, 2007. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Carnes. Devoted father of William F. Carnes and Virginia M. Carnes. Service at St. John's Episcopal Church, 100 Underhill Street, Yonkers, NY, on Tuesday, March 6, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment in St. John's Churchyard. Friends who wish may contribute to the Carnes Fund, c/o St. John's Episcopal Church.

JESSIE, SARAH B.

Sarah B. Jessie, passed away on March 2, 2007 at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, Bronx, NY after a long illness. She was 87 years young. Prior to moving to Rockland County, she lived in the Bronx, however in recent years, she had divided her time between Stony Point and her first love, Montauk, NY. Survivors include one son, William and his wife, Donna of Stony Point; two grandsons, Wayne (wife, Anita) of Pearl River, Robert (wife, Nicole) of Stony Point; one granddaughter, Victoria, also of Stony Point. She is also survived by one great grandson, Mark of Pearl River. Friends may call at the Edward C. Finn Funeral Home in Stony Point on Sunday, March 4, 2007 from 6-9 pm and again on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Church at 10 am with Entombment at Ferncliff to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial donations may be made in her memory to either the Juvenile Diabetes or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Societies. EDWARD C. COZZA, JOHN MICHAEL

John Michael Cozza, Sr., age 68, passed away on March 1, 2007 in Armonk, NY. "Jack", born in Mt. Vernon, NY attended Wilson/Traphagen Elementary School, Mount Saint Michael Academy, Fordham and Manhattan Colleges. He served in the US Navy and was on President Eisenhower's Communication Staff. He was an avid athlete who enjoyed Skiing, Swimming, Golf, Tennis and Football. Jack was a Nationally Ranked Oarsman, an honor that earned him a lifetime membership to the New York Athletic Club. He later coached the Manhattan College Crew Team, turning an intercollegiate club into a Varsity Sport winning the Dad Vail and Metropolitan Championships in 1971. After growing up in the construction industry he founded JCI Mechanical Contractors working primarily in Westchester County. He later worked with major construction companies on projects such as the King Khalid University Hospital in Saudi Arabia, the AT&T; Building, the Metropolitan Towers, the Rockefeller Laboratories at Memorial Sloane Kettering in Manhattan and the clean up effort at Ground Zero after 9/11. Jack married the 'love of his life', Anita (Giugno), was a devoted father to Cheryl Milano (Henry), Michele Dill (Bob) and John Michael Cozza Jr. (Monica) and grandfather to RJ, Henry, Patrick, Michaela, Christopher, John Michael III, and Anthony. He is also survived by his brother Michael Cozza (Penny), brother-in-law Carl Giugno (Marie), sister-in-law Debbie Cozza, wife of his late brother Richard Cozza, an Aunt Josephine Cardillo, an Uncle Joseph Cozza (Gloria), and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Oelker & Cox Funeral Home, 262 Main St., Mt. Kisco, NY (914) 666-5891 on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Church, Armonk, NY on Tuesday at 11 am. In lieu of flowers his family has established the John M. Cozza, Sr. Memorial Football Scholarship at Mount St. Michael Academy and contributions may be sent to HPM Management, 555 Pleasantville Rd., Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510.

HUVANE, JAMES

James Huvane, a resident of Orangeburg for 47 years, died on March 1, 2007. He was born in NYC on November 7, 1920. During WW II, he served in the US Army as a Second Lieutenant in Africa and Italy, where he was wounded. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. After the war, he earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Comparative Literature from Columbia University while working as a police officer in the 24th Precinct in Manhattan. He taught English at Columbus High School in the Bronx for almost 20 years. His wife Jean died in 2005. He is survived by daughters, Bernadette Huvane and her husband Edward Altman, Jacqueline Huvane, and Kathleen Lynch, her husband Daniel Lynch. Loving Grandfather of Daniel and Madeline. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, 10 am, at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt, NY, with passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2007. Beloved wife of the late Army Lt. Stanley Jazwinski. Dear daughter of the late John and Katherine (Falaszewska) Swierz. Loving sister of Regina Halay and the late Julius Swierz. Cherished aunt of Catherine Halay-Silvers, Mary Priede and John Swierz. The family will greet visitors at Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home, Inc., Monday, March 5, from 11:00 am-12 noon, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
