MASSEO, GEORGE PATRICK JR.

George Patrick Masseo, Jr., of White Plains, NY, passed away on September 11, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 31, 1957 to Marie (Napolitano-Masseo) Camilone and George Patrick Masseo, Sr. He was 50 years old. George graduated from St. Joseph's Grammar School, New Rochelle HS, attended Westchester Community College and graduated the Westchester County Police Academy. He was a 26 year veteran of the New Rochelle Police Department. He retired as a lieutenant. George was a lifetime member of Casa Calabria Society, President of Lakenridge Swim Club, National Philatelic Society. He was an avid fisherman, stamp collector, and "loved to cook'. On October 18, 1987 George married Eileen Ward in White Plains. They have four children who survive him: Patrick, Emily, Thomas and Daniel. Besides his wife and children he is survived by is his mother Marie, a brother Michael Masseo of Bronxville, NY and a sister Therese Masseo of New Rochelle, NY and his mother-in-law Gloria Ward. Also surviving is an uncle Anthony Napolitano of New Rochelle, an aunt Rita (Vito) Torcia of Mahopac. George was a dear brother-in-law to Colleen and John Iodice and Patricia Ward. A cousin to Joanne and James Battista and Lisa and Seraj Schneider. He was a beloved uncle to Sean and Erica. Also surviving are several grand aunts and uncles, cousins and an extended family of friends. He was predeceased by his father George Sr. Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9PM. Mass of Christian died suddenly Friday evening, August 30, 2008. Jim was born in Rockland County, NY on July 14, 1950. He was the son of James and Shirley Minerick of Garnerville. Jim was employed as bar manager at St. Petersburg Yacht Club at Pass-a-Grille. Jim was pre-deceased by his father, James M. Minerick Sr. in 2004. Surviving are his wife, Jean and three children; Alexandra, Dana, and Jamieson; and grandson, Riley Campanero. He is also survived by his mother Shirley Minerick and sister Deborah DeChelfin of Stony Point, NY and two brothers; Gary J. Minerick and wife Theresa of Warwick, NY, Kevin J. Minerick and wife Carol of Stony Point, NY; two nieces, Danielle Minerick of Warwick, Ashley DeChelfin of Stony Point, a nephew Garrett Minerick of San Diego, CA; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation and service at The Cape will be private.

MURPHY, DR. AUSTIN S.

Dr. Austin S. Murphy of Rye, NY passed away on September 9, 2008. He was an economist, educator and banker. Born in New York, on November 20, 1917, the son of Daniel J. Murphy and Marie Austin Murphy. He received his BA, St. Francis College in Brooklyn in 1938, MA (Hayden fellow 1938-1940) Fordham University 1940 PhD. He was an instructor at Canisius College 1986, Fordham University 1938-1941, economics instructor Georgetown University 1941-1942, Fordham University School of Education 1946-1955, dean of school of business administration Seton Hall University 1950-1955, dean of school of business administration Canisius College Buffalo 1955-1962. Chairman and President of River Bank America, (formerly East River Savings Bank) 1970-1989. He was married to the former Mary Patricia Halpin who predeceased him in May 1974. He remarried the former Lee Chilton Romero who also predeceased him in February 2007. He is survived by his children Austin Joseph and Owen Gerard, his grandchildren Rachel, Gerrit and Lizzie Murphy, Tessa and Katie Romero. Friends may call at the Graham Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 to 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at Resurrection Church 10 AM. NORFLEET, PHILIP (BIKE) SR.

Philip (Bike) Norfleet Sr., 77, a Haverstraw resident for six decades, passed away Sept. 8, 2008. He worked as a launderer at Letchworth Village and Rockland Psychiatric Center before he retired in 1986. He was an active member of the Fairmount Baptist Church, and was well known and well liked by many people in Haverstraw and throughout Rockland County. He was predeceased by his wife Estelle, stepdaughter Elgeva, granddaughter Evette, brothers Joseph and Peter, and sisters Celia, Mary, and Virginia. He is survived by his sons Philip Norfleet Jr. and James Norfleet; daughters Michele Blair, Yvonne Norfleet, Gail Pendleton, Linda Patrone, and Virginia Norfleet; sisters-in-law Evelyn Norfleet, Thelma Carrow, and Catherine Bibbins; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; his longtime companion Lydia Merriman, her daughter Nikki Merriman-Samuels, and her grandson Aaron Merriman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 AM. All services will be held at Fairmount Baptist Church, 39 Division Street, Haverstraw, NY. Charles Henry Johansen, Sr.
January 02, 1925 - November 24, 2013

Charles Henry Johansen, Sr., 88, of Carmel, NY passed away on November 24, 2013 at Putnam Hospital Center. Mr. Johansen was born on January 2, 1925 to George and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Johansen in Mt. Vernon, NY. During World War II, he proudly served his country with the US Army. On January 18, 1948, he married Adele Barbara Schlöer at Holy Rosary R.C. Church in the Bronx, NY. Mr. Johansen, was very active in his community, and was a member of the following; VFW, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Putnam County Joint Veterans. Mr. Johansen worked as a Nuclear Technician for Gulf United in Pawling, NY and he also worked as an Assistant Engineer for Metro North at Grand Central Terminal in NYC. He is survived by his devoted wife, Adele, his three loving children; Charles Henry Johansen, Jr., Ellen Jame and James John Johansen, eight adoring grandchildren and four wonderful great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1 Noonan Drive, Carmel, NY 10512.

Roger Matrigali
May 15, 1930 - July 05, 2013

Roger Matrigali, 83, of Carmel, NY passed away on July 5, 2013 at Hudson Valley Hospital. Mr. Matrigali was born on May 15, 1930 to Perfetto and Louise (Rosse) Matrigali in North Adams, MA. In 1948, he graduated from Drury High School in North Adamas, MA. He then went on to proudly serve his Country in the Korean War. On June 27, 1953 he married Phyllis Haley in North Adams, MA. He had lived in the Carmel area for the past ten years and before that Brewster, NY for 48 years.
Before he retired in 1996, Roger was employed as a Conductor for Metro North Commuter Railroad. Roger was an active member with the VFW Post 673 and a past Officer of 672 United Transporation Union.
He is survived by his two loving sons; Peter and Adam and four adoring grandchildren; Mark, Matthew, Stephen and Ashlee. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Phyllis and his brother Robert.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer service commencing at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of the flowers donations can be made to: VFW Post 672, 262 Peaceable Hill Road, Brewster, NY 10509.
