DESMOND, ROBERT MICHAEL (MICK)

Mickey Desmond passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, September 6, 2008. Born in the Inwood section of Manhattan on October 28, 1952 to Mabel (nee O'Brien) and Albert Desmond, the family moved to Nanuet in 1960. Mick attended Bardonia Elementary School and graduated from Clarkstown South, where he was a track and wrestling athlete. He was an MP in the US Army and after serving his country, graduated from Ramapo College. Using his management skills, he worked as Operations Manager for several corporations including Nastasi-White, American Health, Par Pharmaceutical, and Lederle Laboratories. But he left the corporate world for his first love, the health field. Mick graduated from the Upledger Institute as an LMT (Licensed Massage Therapist) and was a Master Bodyworker. His specialty was lymph drainage, and his healing hands worked magic on many people. He worked at The Fountain Spa, and eventually opened his own practice. Anyone who knew Mick, knew he was the quintessential health fanatic. He knew everything there was to know about vitamins and homeopathic medicine. Mick studied Chinese medicine and taught Ti-Chi. Mick was also a talented stained glass craftsman, as well as an expert dog trainer specializing in K9 German Shepherds. He was an avid outdoorsman and was instrumental in saving Washington's Lookout in Stony Point from land developers. He is survived by his cherished mother, Mabel, his beloved sister, Janice, his nephew Christopher Connolly (Lisa), his great-nieces Kaitlyn and Emily, many friends and his loyal German Shepherd, Samson. He was predeceased by his father, Albert Desmond, in 1989. Services by Higgins Funeral Home in New City on Tuesday, September 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Cremation will take place privately. MICHAEL J. DIPIETRO, CHARLES

Charles F. DiPietro, age 47, a resident of Port Chester, passed away peacefully in the arms of his family on Saturday, September 6, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. He was born to the late Phyllis and Charles DiPietro former residents of Mamaroneck, NY. He is survived by his son Randy of Port Chester, two sisters Joann Antaki (Michael) of Port Chester and Karen Catalano (Tony) of Carmel. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews: Robert, Nicky, Dana, Christine, Michael and Paul. Along with beloved aunts and many cousins. After graduating Rye-Neck High School, he then continued his life in Port Chester, NY. He was a loving father and beloved friend to all that knew him. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday September 11, 2008 at 10:00am at Our Lady Of Mercy Church at 260 Westchester Avenue, Port Chester, NY.

ECK, HENRY C.

Henry C. Eck, of Blauvelt, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at the age of 82. He was born in NYC, on November 30, 1925 to Charles and Mary Eck. He was a decorated veteran of two wars, serving in the U. S. Army in both World War II and the Korean War. Henry married Jean Campbell on June 4, 1949 in the Bronx; she predeceased him on Nov. 22, 1988. Henry was an avid fisherman who enjoyed cooking and photography. He worked for many years as a telephone repairman for AT&T; and was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Henry was an Honorary Life Member of the Blauvelt Fire Department, is a Past Chief and was now serving as their Safety Officer. He was also a member of the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps., a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by three sons, Robert and his wife Mary of Pitman, NJ, Ralph of Armenia and Kenneth and his wife Rifka of Middletown, NY, 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and his companion, Winifred Rudden. Friends may call Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the "Family Owned" Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc. where Firematic Services will be held on Tuesday evening at 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in the Greenbush Presbyterian Church, 614 Western Highway, Blauvelt. EGGERS, FRED E.

Fred E. Eggers 90, of White Plains, NY, died on September 7, 2008 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was born on September 15, 1917 to the late Fred and Bertha Eggers in Waffensen, Germany. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII. Fred was a retired jeweler for M. Boner & Co. in NYC. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Haupt) Eggers in 2005, two sisters and one brother. He is survived by his children Fred Eggers and his wife Barbara of Danbury, Conn., Robert Eggers of Putnam Valley, NY and Barbara Williams of New Lebanon, Ohio. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Wednesday morning 10 AM- 12 Noon. DUARTE, HENRIQUE

Henrique Duarte, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on September 6, 2008. He was 58. Mr. Duarte was born on November 7, 1949 in Portugal to Maria (Ferreira) Duarte and the late Jose Duarte. He worked for over 12 years as a chef for Aquario Restaurant in West Harrison; prior to that he worked for many years at Luis Café in New Rochelle. He is survived by his wife Maria; a son, Bruno Duarte and his wife Claire; a daughter, Zelia Lopes and her husband Paulo; two grandchildren; two brothers, Jose Duarte and Eduardo Duarte; and a sister, Lurdes Domingos. Visiting Tuesday 6-9 PM at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday 9:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment Private.

EVANS, ANGELA

Angela (Angie) Evans, a 52-year-old resident of Peekskill, NY, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2008 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. Angie was born in Peekskill on December 7, 1955 to James Evans and Joan Carr. She was engaged to her fiance James McNair of Peekskill. Angie worked at the V.A. Hospital in Montrose for several years as well as Holy Comfort in Cortlandt Manor. She is a longtime friend to Frank Walker of Peekskill. Angie is survived by her brothers Eric, Tony, and Robert, her sisters Deana, Rita, Lisa, and Veronica, two aunts, one uncle, many nieces and nephews, and one grandson James Evans. Her surviving children are Jevon, Frank, James, Jade, and Xavier. She was predeceased by her paternal and maternal grandparents. A viewing celebrating her life is scheduled at JEREMIAH EDWARDS FUNERAL HOME, 645 Washington St., Peekskill, NY 914-739-6881 on Thursday, September 11 from 10am-12pm with the funeral following. Angie will live in our hearts forever.

FARRELL, THOMAS J.

SELINSGROVE, PA - Thomas J. Farrell, 72, formerly of Monsey, died Sept. 7, 2008 at Sunbury Hospital, Sunbury, PA, after a long illness. He was born in New York City in 1936 to the late Thomas J. and Mary B. Farrell. He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Farrell in 2003. He was employed by the NYC Board of Education and was a member of Union Local 891 Operating Engineers. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary E. Farrell, three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Susan Farrell, Goshen, Brian and Bridget Farrell, Selinsgrove, PA, daughter in law, Nikki Farrell, Spring Valley, daughter Kathleen and son in law, John Starkey, Suffern, Steven and Beth Farrell, Bethany, CT, sister, Mona Farrell, Newport Ritchie, FL. Surviving are 13 grandchildren, Haylee Rose Farrell, , Anastasia, Delaney and Dillon Farrell, Joseph, Christen and Virginia Farrell, Ashleigh and Kaylyn Porrazzo, Mollie, Megan, Aidan, and Fiona Farrell, several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to call Tuesday September 9, 2008 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901, phone number: (845) 357-0423, and a mass at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern with his interment at Ascension Cemetery, Saddle River Road on Wednesday, September 10th. Memorials in Thomas' memory may be made to the National Parkinsons Disease Foundation, Staten Island, NY. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home.
