RICHTER, DR. PETER

Dr. Peter Richter, a long time resident of Garrison, NY, and New York City, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008. Dr. Richter was born on May 16, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Dr. Curt Paul Richter and Dr. Phyllis Greenacre. During World War II, Dr. Richter served as a Naval Pilot, receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of ensign. Dr. Richter graduated from Yale University in 1946, and Cornell Medical School in 1950. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at New York Hospital. For almost 40 years, Dr. Richter practiced as a psychoanalyst in New York City. He was a member of the faculty of the New York Psychoanlytic Institute and also served as the institute's Vice-President and chair of the Education Committee. Dr. Richter was an avid gardener, fisherman, golfer and woodworker. He leaves behind Patricia, his wife of 59 years, his sons Eric of Garrison, NY, Peter of Garrison, NY and Curt of Helsinki, Finland. HENDRICKS, RAYMOND F.

Raymond F. Hendricks, of Yonkers, NY, died relatively peacefully on August 28, 2008, two days short of his 88th birthday. Raymond was born in South Amboy, NJ, and his parents soon moved to Nepperhan Ave. in Yonkers. The son of Joseph and Anna (Kovalik) Hendricks, he was one of eight children and completed one year at Gorton High School after which he started working full time at the age of 15 to help support the family. Raymond served proudly and honorably during WWII as a Sergeant in the 6th Army Air Force stationed at France Field, Panama for 3 years as a crew chief and mechanic. He returned to NY in 1945 where he worked as a truck driver for many years. He retired after 25 years with the NYS Thruway Authority where he worked as the master carpenter and bridge dock builder Supervisor of the Tappan Zee Bridge. In 1952 he designed and built his own home on Fennimore Ave. where he lived with his wife Helen (Palica). Helen passed away in December 2003. He met his wife at a church bazaar and fell in love the second he set his eyes on her. Together they raised two children, Marylyn Rinaldi of Solana Beach, CA and Raymond Jerry Hendricks of Ardsley, NY. Raymond leaves behind three grandchildren Christine, Laura and Raymond John and four great grandchildren Noah, Kalea, Ryan and Andrew. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Bartholomew's Church on Wednesday September 3rd at 10 AM. HERDE, LAWRENCE F.

Lawrence F. Herde, of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, died peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at the age of 83. He was born in Bronx NY and worked as a Service Manager for New York Telephone Company in New York City for 38 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and participated in the invasion of Iwo Jima. His patriotism and pride in his country were well known to his family and friends. He leaves behind a son James (Kathleen) and a daughter Janet (Robert) Hritz, and granddaughters Kristen and Lauren. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Rose, a sister Carol and two brothers William and Charles. Visitation services will be held Wednesday, September 3, from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday Sept 4th at 11 AM at the funeral home, followed by passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2008. Fritz was born in Germany on June 24, 1915 to Fritz and Emma (Fricke) Hoch. He was an Honorably Discharged Merchant Marine. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Ossining. Fritz is survived by his wife Margaret, nephews William and Scott Berroyer, nieces Judy Rumpf and Gail Brehm and a Goddaughter Maryanne O'Hara-Ryan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 2, 2008 from 7-9 pm and Wednesday 10-12 noon at the WATERBURY & KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Pleasantville Road, Briarcliff Manor, NY. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday September 3rd at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, NY.

HYLAND, MARY

Mary Hyland nee (O'Brien), a native of Tineteriffe, Cappamore Co., Limerick, Ireland died August 31, 2008. She was 90. Mary was born May 12, 1918 in Tineteriffe, Cappamore Co., Limerick Ireland, to Patrick and Johanna O' Brien. Mrs. Hyland worked in Dublin Ireland, London England, and New York City, retiring from Bronx Community College. Mrs. Hyland lived in Pearl River for the past 7 years with her daughter Susan. Previously she lived in the Woodlawn Section of the Bronx for 23 years and the Fordham section for 24 years. Locally she was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Tolentine R.C. Church, St. Barnabas R.C. Church, and St. Margaret's R.C. Church. She is survived by her sons Patrick Hyland of Reston, VA, James and wife Marci of Cleveland, TN, her daughters Maureen and husband Bob Zgorzelski of Somerset, NJ, Susan and Husband Carlos Cardentey of Pearl River, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael and Kelly Hyland, Colleen, Rachel & Ryan Zgorzelski, Erin and Karen Cardentey. She is predeceased by her husband James in December 1980. Visiting will be held Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. LEONARD, ELAINE

Elaine Leonard (nee Smith), of Hartsdale, NY, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2008. She is survived by her devoted husband David, her daughter Beth Fass, son Andrew Leonard, grandsons Jeremy and Matthew Fass, and brother Joel Smith. She was an accomplished artist, a devoted teacher, a community volunteer, and a good friend to many. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 625 McLean Ave., Yonkers, NY at 11:00AM (Phone: 914-965-0660). LYNCH, RICHARD J. JR.

Richard J. Lynch, Jr., of Suffern, NY, entered into internal rest unexpectedly on Saturday August 30, 2008 at home. He was 36 years old. Richard was born in Suffern, NY on July 29, 1972 to his loving parents Richard J. and Roberta Puzziferro Lynch. He was employed as a computer technician for the County of Rockland. He is also survived by his beloved sister Colleen Moriarty of Goshen, NY and nephew Joseph Moriarty. The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday September 3 and Thursday September 4, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at WANAMAKER & CARLOUGH F.H., 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday Sept.5, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Suffern, NY Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum at Ascension Cemetery, Monsey, NY. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home.
