NELSON, MARIE

Marie Nelson died Sunday August 31, 2008 at her home in Patterson, NY, at the age of 81. Mrs. Nelson was born May 12, 1927 in Bronx, NY, daughter of the late Dominick and Suzanna (Ftak) Peragine. Mrs. Nelson moved to Patterson in 1940 then married Ernest M. Nelson on May 7, 1949. Ernest predeceased her on Oct. 10, 1985. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Second Kent Baptist Church, the Republican Committee and the Putnam County Italian American Social Club in Brewster. She also worked as a clerk for the Community Pharmacy in Brewster before retiring in 2003. Mrs. Nelson is survived by her two sons Kenneth Nelson of Pawling and Eric Nelson of Patterson, a daughter Cassandra Cronk of Wallkill, NY, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her son Lawrence and brother William Peragine. A Funeral Service will take place today 1 PM at Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street in Patterson, NY. Internment will follow in Maple Ave. Cemetery in Patterson. Calling hrs. will be held prior to the service from 11 AM to 1 PM. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Hospice Care of Northern Westchester and Putnam.

OSBORNE, ROBERT LOUIS

Robert Louis Osborne, of Delancey, NY, formerly of Sloatsburg, NY, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at home. He was 76 years old. Robert was born in Sloatsburg, NY, on December 5, 1931 to the late Walter and Margaret Wilson Osborne. He was a mechanic for Avon Products in Suffern for 35 years. His surviving family includes his beloved wife Lorraine A. Osborne, at home; children Lynn L. Brady and her husband Michael, of New Hartford, NY; James P.G. Osborne, of Newburgh, NY; Louise M. Renud and her husband Sven, of Airmont, NY; Lisa A. Schmidt, of Walton, NY; a brother Edward (Ted) Osborne and sisters Eleanor M. Lewis, of Monroe, NY; and Elizabeth M. Larsen and her husband Frank, of Kennett Square, PA.; grandchildren Eva M. Burns and her husband Derek, Beth A. Finch and her husband Michael, Ryan M. Brady, Amy M. Osborne and Natasha L. Renud; great-grandchildren Connor Burns, Lyndsey Burns and Abigail Finch, and several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his daughter Amy M. Osborne, his brothers, Walter F. and James P. Osborne, and his sisters, Edith M. Waldron and Mabel I. McDonald. The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at WANAMAKER & CARLOUGH F.H., 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday Sept. 4, 2008 at 10 am. The Rev. Tom Johnston of the Brick Church will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot of the Sloatsburg Cemetery, Sloatsburg, NY. Memorial Donations may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820.

PONICO, JAMES

James H. Ponico, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died on August 31, 2008. He was 91.
Mr. Ponico was born on September 30, 1916 in New Rochelle.
He was a landscape gardener for many years until he retired in 1980.
He served in the Air Force during World War II.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen who died in 2000.
He is survived by a son Frank Ponico of New Rochelle; a grandson, Steven Ponico and a great-grandson Brandon James.
Visiting Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle.
A funeral Mass is Scheduled for Thursday 10:00am at St. Joseph's Church.
Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Sisto & Paino Inc., directors.

TAUSIG, ARTHUR

Arthur Tausig, a former resident of Mt. Vernon, NY, died on August 30, 2008 at the age of 84. He was born on June 25, 1924. He worked as a studio mechanic in New York City up until he retired. Arthur married Dolores Della Vecchia on December 28, 1953 and have remained together for 55 years. Arthur had two children, Karen Tausig Autorino (Deceased) and Steven. He and Dolores recently moved to Tucson, AZ to be closer to his family. He is survived by his sister, Sandra Landes, son Steven, four granddaughters and one grandson.

THAYER, H. STANDISH PH.D.

H. Standish Thayer, Ph.D., of South Nyack, NY, died on August 8, 2008. A Memorial Service will be held on September 6, 2008 at 1 PM at the Fellowship of Reconciliation, 523 North Broadway, Upper Nyack, NY. HANNEMANN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 88 South Broadway, Nyack, NY (845) 358-0573

RYAN, FRANK

Frank J. Ryan passed away on September 1, 2008 at the age of 86. He was born in Mt. Vernon on July 20, 1922 to Mary Callan and Frank V. Ryan. Mr. Ryan retired in 1991 as an executive of Ray Rasal and Petro Oil Co. During WWII, he served with the Navy in the South Pacific. He was a graduate of Iona Prep School and Iona College. He was a member of the Larchmont Shore Club for 47 years. Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife Gloria whom he married on June 5, 1949. He is also survived by his son Frank J. Ryan Jr, his daughter--in-law Jane Ryan and the love of his life granddaughter Lauren Marie Ryan. Visitation at McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass Friday 10:30 am at Holy Family Church, Mayflower Ave, New Rochelle. Internment will follow at Holy Mount Cemetery, Eastchester, NY.

SEAGER, CRISTINA H.

Cristina Hernandez Seager, 52, passed away August 29, 2008. Born in Santo Domingo, raised in Chicago and resident of Mt Kisco, Cristina will be dearly missed and cherished by her husband Edward and daughter Simone Seager, mother, Rhina Hernandez and sister Olga Nugent of Lombard, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to either the "Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco" to be used for the Emergency Shelter Partnership (ESP-Cristina Seager), or to the family college fund for Simone.
