WHITE, THERESA F. (WARD)

Mrs. Theresa F. (Ward) White, of Tarrytown, died August 28, 2008 at the age of 70. Born February 26, 1938 in Yonkers, she was the daughter of Daniel F. and Mary E. Haggerty Ward. She was a graduate of Yonkers High School. Theresa had a long career with Verizon and she also worked for Barhite and Holzinger in Bronxville for ten years. Theresa is survived by her devoted husband Henry (Hank) White of Tarrytown as well as her step-children Laura (Robert) Scott of Clearwater, FL; Deborah Klein of Orlando, FL and Marc (Cheryl) White of Colorado. She is also survived by seven step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren; her sister Mrs. Agnes (Fred) Olita of Poughkeepsie; three nieces and four nephews and two great nieces and two great nephews. She was predeceased by her great niece Kristin Lee DiPillo. Visitation will be at COFFEY FUNERAL HOME on Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be at Transfiguration Church on Wednesday at 10:30. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Phelps Hospice 701 N. THORP, JOHN

John A. Thorp, 88, of North Ft. Myers, Florida, formerly of West Haverstraw, New York, entered eternal rest on 29 August 2008. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Lucy and Alfred Thorp on 15 August 1920. He had one sister, the late Mary Milan of Lyndhurst, New Jersey. John served proudly in the U.S. Army in World War II. He relocated from New Jersey to West Haverstraw, New York, and owned and operated John Thorp Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning in West Haverstraw for over 30 years. He and his wife Edna retired to Naples, Florida in 1988. John was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Edna, his daughter Sandra of Naples Florida, his son John and wife Margie of Omaha, Nebraska, his grandchildren Missy, April, Michael, and Brian, his great-grandson, Salvatore, and his niece Joyce. "Poppie" was the rock of his family. He will be profoundly missed. WALKER, ROBERT I.

Robert I. Walker, age 88, of Gallatin, TN, formerly of Kerman, CA and New Rochelle, NY passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 from asbestosis. Bob was born in Los Angeles, CA on September 22, 1919. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jennie (Bochicchio) Walker, three children, Judith Evans, Christine (Rodney) Nale of Gallatin, James (Renee) Walker of Dixon, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bryan Walker of Clovis, CA, Kim Walker of Fresno, CA, Sarah Evans of NY, NY; one great-grandchild, Kandice Walker of Clovis, CA; his sister Christine (Add) Clark of Visalia, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Walker proudly enlisted in the US Navy in 1940, serving until his discharge in 1946. He is a Pearl Harbor survivor, assigned to the USS West Virginia on December 7, 1941. Dad's narrow escape from the WeVee lived in his heart and mind for many years thereafter. After Pearl Harbor, he was assigned to the USS Destroyer Case serving in Alaska. He later became a Navy diver throughout much of Asia and the Pacific on the USS Pandemus, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After 54 months of sea duty, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberty Medal, American Defense Medal, American Area Campaign Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He and Jennie were married in 1946 in New Rochelle, NY. After his discharge in 1946, Bob began work as a plumber working mostly in construction. He was a valued member of the Plumber's Local Union for over 50 years. After his retirement in 1982, he was appointed to New Rochelle's Plumber's Board as secretary from 1983 to 1999. There was nothing Dad could not fix or repair, except our broken hearts over losing him. He taught each of his children the value of hard work and expecting nothing less from anyone who worked with him. MIELE, ANTHONY

Anthony J. Miele, 91, of Ephrata, PA, entered into rest at Ephrata Manor on Friday September 5, 2008. Born in Yonkers, NY, he was a son of the late Peter and Angelina K. (Amato) Miele. He was the husband of the late Marion (Clow) Miele, who passed away August 13, 2004. He attended Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic church. He enjoyed movies, music, caring for his pets and gardening. He was an active member of the DAV in Yonkers, NY and the Queensbury American Legion. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II with the 277th Signal Pigeon Company. He was employed for many years by the County of Westchester, NY and the owner of Miele's Pet Shop in Yonkers. Mr. Miele is survived by two daughters, Dr. Katherine A., wife of Andrew Gomez of New York, NY, and Christine, wife of Richard L. Patches of Ephrata, PA, two brothers: Michael Miele and Joseph Miele both of Yonkers, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Nicholas and Ralph Miele and four sisters, Ann, Mary, Lena and Millie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 11th at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 320 Church Street, Ephrata, PA, with Fr. James Small officiating. A viewing will then be held from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday night at Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Avenue, Ephrata. Final Commendation and Farewell will be at 12:30 PM on Friday, September 12th at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp., with full military honors. BIONDI, RICHARD

Gregarious, warm and above all, kindhearted, Richard P. Biondi was called to the angels on Wednesday, August 27, 2008. The world has sadly lost an elegant diplomat, refined gentleman and a driving force behind multiple causes in Westchester County. Known in many circles for his tireless efforts on behalf of the aged, the blind, those with special needs and academia, Richard Biondi was a champion for others and was committed to making the world a better place. Born on June 20, 1944 at Women's Hospital in Manhattan to Jennie and Alphonse Biondi, Richard was a graduate of St. Helena's High School and Iona College, and received a Masters Degree from SUNY Albany. He married Maureen Ann Baker on August 19, 1967 at Our Lady of Assumption in the Bronx. Richard leaves his post as Senior Vice President of White Plains Hospital Center. Prior to joining White Plains Hospital Center, he worked for Verizon, New York Medical College, and General Foods Corporation. Early in his career, he enjoyed a multifaceted role in higher education at Iona College. Very active in community and civic activities, Richard was appointed to the Westchester Putnam Workforce Investment Board, where he served as Secretary. He served as Vice-chairman of the Westchester Public/Private Partnership Fund for Aging Services and was the immediate past Co-chair of the Corporate Community Jobs Project. In addition, he is the Past Chairman of the Board of: the County Chamber of Commerce, the City of White Plains Charter Revision Commission; Junior Achievement of the Lower Hudson Valley; the Lighthouse International (Hudson Valley Region); the White Plains Public Access Cable Television Commission; Food-PATCH (now the Food Bank for Westchester); the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association; and the American Heart Association of Westchester, Rockland & Putnam. Richard also served as a Board Member of Advisory Trustees at Iona College and of the Department of Transportation, Westchester County. He was an immediate past co-chair of Westchester Coalition of Social Adult Day Service Programs and a Board Member of the League of Women Voters of New York State, Education Foundation, Inc. He was also an active parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains, past President of the Parish Council. He is survived by the greatest love in his life, his family; his mother, Jennie Biondi, his wife, Maureen, daughter, Jennifer O'Sullivan, son-in-law Kevin O'Sullivan, son Richard II and daughter-in-law Kelley and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ruth Baker. The Biondi spirit will live on in Mr. Biondi's family members and especially his grandchildren, Jay and Christian Biondi, Maureen, Thomas and Connor O'Sullivan - all whom he adored. Calling hours are Friday 2-4 and 7-9pm at McMahon Funeral Home in White Plains. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains followed by entombment at Gate of Heaven. FIORIANTI-BARTOLOMEO, ANTOINETTE

Antoinette A. Bartolomeo, of Haverstraw, NY, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was 87. Antoinette was born May 8, 1921 in Brooklyn to the late Paul and Michela Iovino. She was an avid reader and loved cooking, she also loved to play Bingo. Antoinette loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Antoinette is survived by her children Valentino and his wife Olga Fiorianti, Paul and his wife Carol Fiorianti, John and his wife Elizabeth Fiorianti, her daughter Joan and her husband Louis Marcucci. She is also survived by her grandchildren John A. Fiorianti, John F. Fiorianti, Michael Fiorianti, Robert Fiorianti, Valerie Desimone, Helena Fiorianti, Paul Fiorianti Jr., Trish Fiorianti, Tracy Fiorianti, James Fiorianti, and Christopher Marcucci, great-grandchildren Kendall-Nichole, Ashley and John A. Fiorianti, Jr. Friends may call Thursday 2-4, 7-9 PM at the T.J. McGowan Sons F.H. GARNERVILLE. GUARNIERI, ANTHONY

Anthony Guarnieri, age 79, of Chestnut Ridge, NY, passed away at Summit Park Hospital in Pomona, NY on Thursday, August 28, 2008. He was born May 28, 1929 in New York City to the late Pasquale and Angelina (Campanella) Guarnieri. He graduated from Samuel Gompers Vocational High School with a degree in electricity. Angelo served in the U.S. Army and Reserves form 1951 to 1957, including a tour in Korea. On September 10, 1955, he married June Gattie at Our Lady of Solace Church in the Bronx. In the early years of married life, Angelo and June resided in the Morris Park section of the Bronx. Angelo was a NYPD police officer for 22 years serving in the 41st precinct (Fort Apache), Bronx Tow and the 45th precinct. He was also a carpenter by trade; tirelessly alternating the two jobs to provide for his family. After he retired from the police department, Angelo and June moved to Rockland County in 1978. In retirement, Angelo drove a school bus and continued to utilize his carpentry skills in helping his children build their homes. In his later years, he became an avid Giants fan. He will especially be remembered as a wonderful father and grandfather who was always there when you needed him. Angelo is survived by his wife of 53 years, June; his son and his wife, Ralph and Iwona (Iwawowska) Guarnieri of Harriman, NY; his daughter and her partner, Vicky Guarnieri and Anne Baumann of Sloatsburg, NY; his daughter Angel (Guarnieri) Ortiz of Bardonia, NY; and his daughter and her husband, Diane (Guarnieri) and John Ortiz of New Milford, CT. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Tyler, Jennifer, Nicholas, Danielle, and Dominick. He is also survived by a brother and his wife, Daniel and Norma Guarnieri and his best friends, Dom and Terry De Rienzo. In addition to his parents, Angelo was predeceased by his son-in-law, Edwin Ortiz. Funeral Services will be held at 10:15 AM Saturday, August 30 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack, NY. Relatives and friends are welcome at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 Main Street, New City, NY, on Friday from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM.
