CRAWFORD, CAROLINE A.
Caroline A. Crawford, of Guilderland, (formerly of Ossining) died on Friday, August 29, 2008 at the home of her son, Thomas. Mrs. Crawford worked in the incoming mail department for Reader's Digest in Chappaqu, NY. She was with the company for over 20 years before retiring in 1978. She was a tutor, Ossining School system 1978-1997. Mrs. Crawford was born in Yonkers, NY to Frank Drohan and Hannah Fitzgerald. She was educated in Yonkers and graduated from Gorton High School. On May 1, 1937, she married Robert G. Crawford at St. Joseph's Rectory in Yonkers, NY. Her husband died in 1969. Mrs. Crawford lived in Guilderland for the past one and a half years. Before that she lived in Ossining for the past 65 years. Locally she was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church, Briarcliff Manor. Survivors: Sons, Robert (Louise) of Ossining, NY, Thomas of Guilderland, NY, John of Novi, MI; Grandchildren, Michael (Marie) of Delmar, NY, Christopher (Christine) of Putnam Valley, NY, Jennifer of Taylor, MI, John (Kristin) of Philadelphia, PA, Robert (Karen) of Pleasantville, NY. Great-Grandsons, Andrew of Delmar, NY and Ryan of Putnam Valley, NY; sisters, Eileen Drain and Doris Kopera of Yonkers, NYand many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her sisters, Mae Qualters, Peggy Ryan, Grace McKinney and her brother John Drohan. D'ALESSANDRO, ANGELO JOSEPH JR.
Angelo Joseph "A.J." D'Alessandro, Jr., died suddenly on August 2, 2008 from lung cancer. He was born July 21, 1957 in Yonkers, NY, son of Angelo and Edith D'Alessandro. A.J. was a 1976 graduate of Port Chester High School and was the Food and Beverage Manager for Radisson Hotel in Boca Raton for 13 years. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Kenny D'Alessandro, all of Rye Brook, NY. He is survived by his sisters, Donna Stevens of Cave Creek, AZ, and Doreen Florence of Greenwich, CT. Also, his nieces and nephew, Jennifer and David Florence, IV of Greenwich, CT, and Taylor and Rachael Stevens of Cave Creek, AZ. A graveside blessing of the ashes will take place 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2008 at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook, NY. DUNN, HELEN E.
Helen E. Dunn, of Nanuet, died on August 29, 2008 at Nyack Hospital. She was 80 years old. Helen was born in Harrison, NY to John and Helen Traynor, she had lived in Nanuet for 35 years, prior New Rochelle. Mrs. Dunn worked in her early years for the Phone company and later the Rockland Journal News. She was primarily a homemaker and a lifelong sports enthusiast. She married George J. Dunn in 1958 in Port Chester, NY and he predeceased her in 2001. She is survived by her son, Timothy of Nanuet; her daughter and son-in-law Colleen and Mike Hanigan; and her grandchildren, the joys of her life Michael and Thomas Hanigan. She also leaves behind her sister Theresa Marinaro of Bardonia, and many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by her sister Frances in 2004. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Higgins Funeral Home, New City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM in St. Anthony's Church with died peacefully on August 30, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 12, 1934 to Manuel and Rose (Abbondola) Fernandes in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. Bob was the owner and operator of the famous Jo-Jo's Hot Dog Stand noted for its delicious onion sauce. The City of Yonkers DPW employed him for over 35 years as a Labor Supervisor of the Sanitation Department and as the Manager of the Sewer Department until his retirement in December 1999. On April 14, 1955 he married Mary Dugan in Sacred Heart Monastery Church, she survives living in Yonkers. He was a parishioner of this Church where he enjoyed volunteering for Bingo; a member of VFW Post 1666 and the Amackassin Club. Bob was an avid deep-sea fisherman and Mets fan. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the Destroyer USS Allen M. Sumner DD692 that circumnavigated the world following the route of Magellan. He was often quoted as saying, "I was in every 'Port of Call' in the world and there's no place like America!" He was proud to be a "Shellback!" We will miss our Sunday dinners and watching the Lottery results with him. Besides his devoted wife, Mary, he is survived by his four loving daughters, Laura (Frank) Sinatra, Jr. of Yonkers, Catherine (William) Nowak of Yonkers, Anne Riti of Cortlandt Manor and Jennifer DeMascio of Yonkers; nine cherished grandchildren, Christine and William Nowak, Frank III and Robert Sinatra, Danielle, Ashley and Mary DeMascio and Nicole and Robert Riti; one adored great-granddaughter, Gianna Nowak-Ujkic; two sisters, Marie Pizzuti of Scarsdale and Linda Silliman of Yonkers and many special nieces and nephews. His parents, a brother Joseph and a sister Ann, predeceased him. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave. on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart Monastery Church on Tuesday at 10:30 AM, followed by an interment at St. Mary's Cemetery.
HANNA, PATRICIA
Patricia (Barrett) Hanna passed away suddenly on March 3, 2008. Ms. Hanna was a life-long Yonkers resident. She was born to John and Emma (Hoek) Hanna on May 19, 1944. In 1961, she married Eugene Barrett Sr. (deceased) She attended Yonkers schools and was employed at various companies in the Yonkers area. Patricia was predeceased by her parents. Survivors include her three children; Eugene Barrett of Arkansas, Ron Marra (Michael Barrett) of Woodbury, CT, and Angela Barrett of Florida. She is also survived by her brother, John Hanna, Jr. and long-time companion Ray Ascorra, both of Yonkers, and seven grand-daughters. Funeral arrangements were handled by Flynn Funeral Home. Burial at Oakland Cemetery.

Anne H. Hass passed away on August 29, 2008. She was born in New York City on July 28, 1912 to George and Anna Riedl. Anne was a resident of Nanuet, since 1962 prior Astoria, Queens. She is survived by her daughter Anne of Nanuet and her son George and his wife Marlene of Saugerties. She will be missed dearly by her grandchildren, Barbara, and Anne of Ulster County. Also surviving is her dear sister Elizabeth Riedl of Nanuet. She is predeceased by her husband George and daughter-in-law Barbara. Family will receive friends on Monday, September 1 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY.
